    I think there is a fuse for the light or you switched the wires from empty to full I can't recall if is the green or the brown.

    Hmmm I didn't see a fuse on the diagram for that light, but might be worth a second look. As far as switching wires, perhaps, I just ended up putting them back the way they were, which could've been swapped at some point in it's life. 🤔

    @motor.mausGarage I have an xtra one assembled. I will take a look at it to let you know about the wires. I changed mine because the gas was showing at full all the time(but was empty) and noticed that the little sensor attached to the floater was stripped and pretty much open. Got a new one. Also noticed that if the floaters touch the metal part, it does not move up or down. And if stays down, the light will stay on.

    Would love a build list, suspension and lessons learned especially (I'd love to avoid any excessive vibrations on highway if that's actually possible)... I've got a mildly built 200 and I've been baselining my 80 for a build, but I'm a bit hung up on direction to go. I live pretty close to Moab, so I'm debating a 3 link versus a quality 3.5" lift and some 37s, any input would be much appreciated since you just built yours and witnessed some of the others.

    Great video! It's very informative and will use in the future. I plan on doing this to my 1997 Fzj80 in a few months. One question... Is there a list of new parts needed for a short block build? I've been slowly buying parts in prep reaction, such as wiring harness, injectors, water pump, blah. blah, blah. I've searched Ih8mud , but haven't found a list. I want to make sure I have all the parts on hand. Thanks!!!

  • @motor.mausGarage
    @motor.mausGarageАй бұрын

    I'm not aware of any lists, but the main points would probably be somewhere along the lines of: Pistons and rings (or just rings if you're reusing pistons) Rod bearings Main bearings with thrust washers Rods (if not reusing OEM) Freeze plugs Oil restrictor in top of block (can just reuse the original) Alignment dowels for the head Oil pump o rings Oil pickup tube gasket Rear main seal Timing cover o rings Oil squirters (if you suspect old ones are faulty) I'm probably missing a few things but that's the bulk of what you'd need. Obviously machine work would be needed, so I'd talk to your machine shop before buying pistons and rings.

    Although the Slee is nice...so is DeltaVs....I just made my own because they are a bit expensive. I just use the 2nd battery tray for storage. As with anything, just look at your use case and that solves that equation. Same with your swingout...do you think you really need it? Adding all that weight and expense? Having a good air compressor is so nice to have. I just have a Vaiair model and after airing down and up a few times it does get annoying. I think my next purchase is either the Morflate or Thorslightning. I live having it portable. Either one of those with the 4 hose inflator kit is so nice. Set it and forget it is also a great feature. And a lot cheaper than the ARB twin.

  • @motor.mausGarage
    @motor.mausGarage2 ай бұрын

    Yeah DVS makes some really nice stuff. I think storage with a .50 Cal ammo can sitting where the battery should be is my use case. I always need a place to store fluids where I'm not worried about them leaking so I think that might be a good option. As far as the swing out, I'm looking at getting a 4x4Labs since you can remove all of the accessories when they aren't in use. I really only want to mount a spare for out of town remote trips (Moab for example). I mostly want the rear bumper for added departure angle and not feeling bad about scraping my rear end up during wheeling 😂. The main reason for the ARB twin mounted is the lockers that will be going in during some upcoming videos, but I love having onboard air no doubt. MORR flate has been on my mind as well, will make inflation super easy.

    It's always good to torque down the grill screws to 300 ft/lbs 😜 So whenever the AC is on the fan will turn on? It doesn't gauge what the temp or pressure is in the AC system is and then turn on? I think there are a couple of write-ups in Mud about this. I am curious to see what affect this has on the H2O temps when that air is being blown over the radiator.

  • @motor.mausGarage
    @motor.mausGarage4 ай бұрын

    Yeah, basically this fan runs off of the AC pressure switch, I'm not sure what the function of that switch is, perhaps for compressor operation. I went wheeling soon after this and it keeps the temps right at 190 while doing low speed stuff and idling. It was about 85-90F ambient temp so I think that's pretty good. We'll see this summer when we're well over 100 degrees lol

    Great video. I have a '17 GX460 but it's so new (128k miles) my maintenance has only been preventative so far; fluids, brakes, etc. BUT, my 180k Subaru outback was having some cooling issues after a recent hose service. I determined that there was air trapped in the system. Partially because Subaru hates us and put the highest point of the cooling system in the heater core (inside the car WTF). The other part is that they didn't elevate the front of the vehicle. I ended up doing this and got *many* bubbles out. I'm sure your LC is better designed than this, just thought I would share my fun story. My coolant temps are always cooler at idle because (I have the modified fan clutch) it is actually pulling more air through the radiator. I think you will see they will climb a little while driving. You would think it would be the opposite but there is some differential between the air passing through the radiator at speed and what the fan will allow and while at idle. If that makes any sense. One way you can even make it more efficient is to put foam between the top of the radiator and the core support and between the fan shroud and the radiator. Let the fan pull as much air directly through the radiator without having any air intake from anywhere else. How much was that radiator? I replaced mine a while back with some "known brand" off ebay I think an it's been great for years. Coolant temps are such a "hot" topic 😜. Everyone is looking to be the lowest but as long as it doesn't get into the 200+teens (I think the AC cutoff is like 225º or something?) it will be ok. is that unamed co. still making those turbo kits? There's been a lot of bad blood and bad talk about that dude over the last year or so...if it's the same (WE....this could mean anything people! 😁) that I am thinking. Any updates on your temps since you put it in? Sweet gauge too! Now that's a cool company!

    Good ideas! Might have to play with those if it comes down to it. This rad was about $1200 shipped to me, so not the most economical choice but hopefully a good one lol. Yeah you guessed right 👀 IYKYK lol. So temps have been really good, I don't think I've seen them get higher than 195 doing some low speed wheeling which is really good!
