Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Now that the Engine has been removed, we need to investigate what went wrong, and more importantly, get these heads to my local machine shop for some clean up! Check below for a full copy of the FSM provided by BirfMark from the iH8Mud forum!
I've got a little something planned for when we reach the 1000 sub mark, so help us get there and we can start giving back to you guys!
Thank you all so much for your time.

Nice. I just finished my motor. On my OBD1 1FZ, the split gear compensates for backlash. I would change out all those timing components: timing chain, cam gear, crank gear, sub-gear. That headgasket is toast. You can tell if it was original if it's different than the redesign gasket, the new Toyota head gaskets are different. Mine was blown on cyl 3 and I didn't even know until after I pulled the motor out. It also didn't have perfectly round cylinder holes in the gasket. Specifically on the blown cylinder. That's going to look clean when you get it back!

I saw your latest video! Looking great, and it's an awesome feeling seeing engines come together 😂. Just did a parts inventory and I've got everything related to timing brand new. Had been awhile since I looked 😂.

Didn’t know you are in El Paso. I’m up in Ruidoso and know this is going to happen at some point for my 1994 80 series Land Cruiser

yes the chain tensioner needs to be replaced. you shouldn't be able to push it with your fingers.

looks like warped head or cheap gasket or maybe head bolts were reused not replaced last time head gasket was done

Really appreciate these videos! Right now I'm struggling to replace the ripped leather shifter on my 80, and that's after browsing ih8mud for hours, so this is aspirational stuff haha Gotta say, I laughed out loud when you said "my thinking cap was on today" and then right after said the engine stand was made in Canada, when the instruction manual said both "Ontario, CA USA" and "Made in China" 😂 I mean that in the best way though, and as someone who also thought Ontario, CA meant Ontario, Canada when I first saw it

Great video, very helpful I've kept filling up my 40th LC with oil. Today, I noticed the oil leaked outside of the engine head and the white smoke on the exhaust. After watching your videos, I assumed it must be the head gasket blown out. Where did you purchase the short block from? Thank you

Thank you! I ordered it directly online from Olathe Toyota in Kansas! I would give them a call and I think they can give you a lead time on it too.

Ontario, California USA. Also, I pointed out in a previous video you have an EGR delete. Would love to see how deep you get into the diagnoses of fail in #6 piston. I am planning on replacing my current 1FZ (2nd motor in LX450) with an LS swap at the next major motor failure.

I would definitely go LS if you want to get the best bang for your buck and don't mind things sitting for a little while. Also I need to look into some EGR block off plates, because all the EGR components are still on the engine 😂

@@motor.mausGarage I think witsend used to carry EGR shaped "keychains" for various vehicles. A relatively expensive but very clean solution. On my first donor motor swap I put off the LS because I just wanted to keep the rig moving and be ready for summer. Good luck with the rig. Dig the videos

Most descriptive 1FZ close up footage on youtube! I've got a 93, absolutely caked in grease. I just did the birfields and a pinion seal, found out why six point sockets are necessary for certain bolts (welder had to make an appearance to get my diff plug removed). I'm curious how many miles this engine had before failure. I like many others have considered an LS swap when my FZ meets its fate one of these days, and if I were to be taking the motor out for repair I would be happy to put something in with more power and better gas mileage. Realistic price comparison from what you are doing vs a swap? Thoughts?

This one let go at 246k miles, and wasn't maintained very well 😂. I would probably say it's a pretty similar price to either OEM rebuild or LS, but LS would definitely give you more bang for your buck imo. I've got a video coming out in a day or two going over the total cost of this rebuild for some context!

best way to remove diff fill plugs is to use a 6 point socket and breaker bar with a bottle jack if the socket slips a bit put a dish cloth over the plug. also my rear diff drain plug has been spinning for about 10 years after hit it on a rock it wont tighten wont loosen and cant remove it but it doesn't leak and have to use a vacuum pump to change the oil

Isn't a built turbo short block going to cost more than an LS swap and get you like 6 mpg if you're lucky? Lol. I wanted to do the same thing because the concept sounds super rad but also super impractical.

I had considered an LS swap for quite awhile actually. The thing that kept me from that the most is those projects always sit for a number of years for one reason or another, and ideally I'd like to have this thing running this year at least 😂.

Not to mention I can collect turbo parts as I go, and still be able to drive the 80 which is more my style.
