    Thanks for your story! It gives me hope. I am 5 months into a lower leg palsy after traumatic injury to the sciatic nerve. No improvment so far. How often did you perform EMG/Neurography tests after the first one? Did they see any improvement/signals after 6 months? So 11 months you saw the first signs of improvement and it took 2 years until 95 recovery? Did the call it Neuropraxia or Severe Axonotmesis? Do you remember the grade of injury? Thanks for giving me hope!

    Omg thank you for sharing! I am in the same situation but the cause is a little different. I have nerve damage from sitting on a toilet for 12-14 hrs. I ended up having 2 strokes from sitting that long. The drs tell me my foot drop is not caused from strokes even though that is common. I would like to ask you though at what part of your leg was the sciatic nerve damaged? Again thank you I’m on my 11th month now and still in so much pain in my foot. I pray all the time that it heals.

    "How to fix foot drop" by Bob the Physio. Heart problems, go see a cardiologist. Lung problems, see a heart/lung or pneumothorax doctor. Sore throat, go see ears, nose, throat doctor. Female problems seek a gynecologist. Pregnant ? Go see and Obstetrician. Tired, fever, vomiting go get blood tests. Gas pains, stomach, colon issues, go see a gastroenterologist. I think your situation has more to do with your hip, pelvic or Lower lumbar. Talking is a cover up. They should have sent you for X-ray. Hey if a person can have a full blown strike and the first thing they do is an x-ray instead of what they see, confusion, can't speak, face totally u functional...it's obvious a STROKE. Why are doctors not sending you to X-ray? You DID have foot drop and they did think it was a back injury....it WAS!!! And the MRI doesn't always show soft tissue damage. I can almost bet you have one hip forward and the other is higher plus tilted opposite direction ...so during surgery pulling it pushing you to another bed yanked it to the point it got impinged or compressed.

  • @michellepernula872
    @michellepernula8723 ай бұрын

    When you have nerve problems know that the nerves go through bone called the spine. Bones that protect the cord. The fix is a chiropractor. They will see and show you the X-ray then adjustment the spots that are sitting on your nerves. You're going to do exercises to develop muscle to lift that spine to stop compressing nerves.

  • @michellepernula872
    @michellepernula8723 ай бұрын

    So last doc just gives you stories and hope ...that does nothing. That electrical feeling is neuropathy, that's the nerve dying, it's wasting away because your brain was no longer stimulated so your body allows it to die. It's very painful. They give you pain pills that will just addict you. It's a way to cause depression, then people resort to amputation or suicide. Alcohol is bad because the liver is needed to deal with your cortisol flooding your body. The tens machine is moving blood with lots of oxygen to start to regenerate nerves, takes years. My son was impaled, over 20 surgeries so he shifted weight to better leg then it caused nerve damage. They want to do injections to kill his nerves intentionally in his whole foot but insurance won't pay for it. I'm a nurse and don't want him to do that. I've begged him to go to a chiropractor to adjust his foundation (hips/pelvic) because it's obviously moved from body weight shifting it to other side to bear weight. He thinks it's to painful to do. Not as painful as neuropathy. So he wears insoles and cries a lot. Wife does massages but doing them improperly can kill new nerve growth. This country needs healthcare. We deserve it. You deserve it.

  • @michellepernula872
    @michellepernula8723 ай бұрын

    I hope you sued the hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist. Did they drop you moving you on gurney or yanked your leg? Any bruising? Sounds like sacrum needed adjustment and pelvic. If you just had a baby the pelvic and hips shift. Chiropractor? X rays? Neurologists will want to do surgery and pills, the chiropractor can adjust skeleton to decompress the nerves. The longer you wait, that nerve sends message to brain and it will finally start dying as it's useless. MRIs are not always accurate on soft tissue. Myelin sheath is what surrounds the nerve. You need oxygenated blood and it takes a month, not a day to grow width of a hair. Tens machine, adjustments needed. immediately, therapy and exercise.

    In a very short time I developed a foot drop on my right foot, followed by loss of knee jerk reflex on my left knee. Also, I can not push up from a sitting position using my left foot. While flat on my back, I cannot lift my left leg/foot. Pain/numbness/tingling/needling, etc are always there on both legs below the knees. I can stand on my feet, but the moment I try to walk, I lose my balance and fall. I have to use a walker to move. Legs feel like they are dead, like 2 concrete blocks I am dragging around, with no feelings in them. For the last year, I have seen many, many doctors and specialists. I had MRIs, X-rays, Cat scans, EKGs, nerve conductivity studies, and over 130 different type of blood work. No diagnosis yet. Nerve study revealed nerve issue. I have been taking vitamin B12 as I was low on it. Not knowing what is going on, and not getting anywhere with our "healthcare system" is extremely frustrating. I am basically on my own. None of my doctors and specialists want to see me again... I refuse to take Gabapentin which came with 9 pages of possible bad side effects. I would rather live with pain. Pain tells me how far I am pushing myself. I do therapy and exercises at home, as much as I can. I don't want muscles to atrophy any more. I am not giving up, although there are days when I'm extremely depressed.

Thank you for this post i needed it even if im in early recovery i didnt feel very hopeful mostly due to the pain and how tired my calf gets after just a few steps.

I’m able to move my foot but the only thing I can’t is lift it up i still feel like my brain isn’t connected that nerve but I’m working on it everyday because everything she explained about drop foot is true from physical challenges to mental challenges you don’t know how much you need your foot until it is gone. I’m 23 years old and I was working in construction going to school for construction I’ve been training in mma since a kid I was going to compete in my first mma competition in January 27th but then I got shot in one of the most important limbs and now I feel like everything I have done has gone to waste but you definitely need to be strong this a life changing challenge that we need to face I definitely don’t take nothing for granted no more

    Thanks for the vid, I stumbled on it this morning. I'm 64 and had a fight with the lawn mower 5 months ago .... and it won. I went through exactly all the symptoms as you did and am still in recovery ... hopefully. Left foot. I'm interested in what, if any exercises you did for physio? I've spent a fortune on aids and handles ... cushions ... afo braces etc. Also acupuncture and I've just ordered an inverter! I'm gonna start a new physio programme soon too with a local guy. Did you have to use a walking stick? I do. I must have spent over $1000 on stuff! I'm still on Gabo but it kinda does work for me. I was very active initially, but it took over recently and I can only walk about 1/2 mile with stick now. I still do my physio routine 5 times / week. I'm 75K and was a runner about 20k per week. I've never had a car and used to walk everywhere!!! Not now! It is indeed a life changer. Thanks for sharing, I too have looked all over but only find super fit guys telling you which exercises to do or not do !!! Crap! If you could share any stuff you did for the many months you suffered and any tips that helped you get through physically would be appreciated.

I pray your 100% total healing restoration, Amen.

Also as you can imagine moving and positioning for months in the hospital and weeks in ICU. They have been home for a year with BOTH feet completely numb and the neurologist has done nothing but suggest neurotherapy…meaning put on braces and try to walk. Hearing your story has prompted us to push the neurologist for something more or we are getting a second opinion. I have tried to suggest the sacral wound or something causing nerve damage.

I can lift ankle but not if there is any resistance. I can not feel my toes at all it’s been 4 1/2 months. I have been told that where my foot progresses is at the 1yr point is the best it will get.
