okay finish it was pretty easy Once I follow so he didn't say to leave the printer on but once I turned it on to see if it'll move the thing it worked nicely like the other guy commented here so yeah he's right you have to have it on the cartridge will be close to the middle and then it's a matter of just pulling them out so I'm done I did it the harder part was finding the correct ink

If cleaning doesnt fix the problem just get a second set of cartridges, yeah right, do know how much that costs, I cant put out that much money for TWO sets of cartridges.

The ink cartridges are labeled with the HP information printed on. When you slide the cartridge into the correct location, the printing needs to face UP, not OUT. I'd been trying to fit the cartridges in, with the printing facing OUT. That makes ALL the difference. When you slide the cartridge in with the printing facing UP, not OUT, they lock into place very nicely. And then when you've had a couple of paper jam fiascos and try to do the paper jam fix, make sure to CLOSE FIRMLY the little white drawer on the bottom, until it clicks, otherwise it will keep making the paper jam. Sheesh. There could be better instructions. I just did all this, and now the printer is working.

What brand ink cartridges did you use? These were not HP cartridges.

My printer was working yesterday. The black just wasn't printing. So I cleaned the heads a few times. It was a fairly new cartridge so it has ink. Now I get a "can't detect the cartridge" error. I can't get to Home or maintenance. I've ordered a new epson cartridge. But does anyone think the printer might be dead? Epson NX430. I've had it for years, but has always worked great. I've always used OEM cartridges. But itbis sometimes days between when I use it. Cleaning has always fixed it.

My Epson printer constantly stops recognizing cartridges for no reason. Have had it stop recognizing brand new cartridges just after a few prints. The last time I barely printed anything, just did the head cleaning a few times and it stopped. Its been doing it for years, I can't remember the last time a cartridge actually got to being out of ink, happens with both OEM and 3rd party ink. Will never buy another Epson product again. I can't trust them.

printer ink is the biggest scam out there. when i used to buy my own ink for $80- it lasted less than a year, usually only a few months before it says its empty, i then got "the plan" where they charge 5 bucks a month (then like .10 cents a page over 30 pages.. yeah) and when they see you are running low, they send you a new cartridge. im now at 2.5 years and the ink is still working fine... if i cancel the plan, it will signal the$60 printer that the ink is empty. total scam

For me, I couldn't pay ink because the tanks were still full, I did not see the levels, I had to dismantle the printer to see this. If the tanks are full, the ink does not flow.

I have MFC-J497DW tried all your methods and still yellow message:Cannot Detect Ink.I don't use genuine cartridges but everything was always OK. I didn't use that printer for 2 months and noticed that one color doesn't print properly, i performed Head Cleaning and also downloaded and installed "improved" program ( Y17A_C2_UWC_PP-usa-inst-F2.EXE) and then all Cannot Detect Ink problem started. Can you help me, please?

Is "improved program" a firmware update? If no, you can try uninstall the program to see if it works.

I Unplugged the printer for 2 days, removed all ( think) files with a name Brother from my computer, plugged it back and still the same massage "Cannot detect ink" on all cartridges! I can attach the picture of the the display ( but I think i cannot in the reply). I haven't had that kind of problems using Brother printers. What should I do before smashing it into pieces....

HP8600 HP Black ran out. Replaced with New non Expired HP Black Cart. Tells me its damaged? Tried just about everything on the Web. Even went out and bought all 4 new HP Carts... Now It says all are damaged?????

wf 3820 when turned off returns the ink holder to the "stored" position which does not allow new cartridges to be added. Printer must be turned on to get new cartridges in. Your instructions, otherwise very good, are to not turn on the printer before adding new cartridge. Can't be done. HP next time...

How to clean the nozzles of a dry printer cartridge in a 3 seconds. You need to immerse the printer cartridge halfway, nozzles down, for 2 - 3 seconds in boiling water, pull it out and wipe it. Let me explain: boiling water will slightly soak the dried paint and the internal pressure will “break through” and wash the nozzles with ink that is inside. True, the cartridge will “lose” some ink. If it still won't print, it means there is no ink in it.

Wow , one must be a complete dumb ass to not know how to read a color on a cartridge or see the colors lol. More so you have to go into the menu an select replacement of ink cartridge for the cartridge cage to align itself with the arrows

We have an HP L7680 with just the black not working. The printhead has both yellow & black. The yellow works, not the black. Will these tips work in our case? Could we just run warm water over to clear the clog? The test report says the printhead is still good. Thanks

Use isopropyl 3% and heavy garage paper towel on bench and cleaning all other parts. Do not block air vent hole with tape. Use the needle to puncture a hole just thru the tape.

I suspect you've been using inkjet printers; I had one years ago, died once under warranty, they repaired it, & it worked for almost another month. GOODBYE inkjet printers. Since then, nothing but HP Laser Printers. Swap in a new toner cartridge, and you've also replaced most common wear parts of the printer. A dream come true.

I had to make this comment. My Epson XP-530 that I have operating for more than 7 years, just today had this issue with the ink cartridge. I followed step by step all the directions of the video and just before I lost hope, after cleaning the contacts, it worked! Thank you!
