How is riding with passenger? Does it have enough power?
I don't take passengers but like everything in life, I guess the more weight the slower things are going to be. A lot smaller bikes do ride 2 up and so power is subjective.
That's a little frustrating. You did a test ride but made no comment on the difference
Sorry about that, I had mic/sound issues on the actual ride as it was a severe weather warning day but I did make a comment in the video @6:14 but just to reiterate, it made a real difference in reducing the wind factor and I am glad I fitted it.
Brilliant!
Nice job, next time put a little grease on your pin before sliding it back in, makes it easier.
Magnificent Roy. Your skills you implement on making these owls out of just plain logs is INCREDIBLE. AN ARTIST AT WORK. Keep it going Roy. Whoop Whoop. 😊
Thanks for saying and glad you liked them
nice work..did you use a carving bar or just the regular blunt nose..
Cheers Kennova01, I have a range of chainsaws and bars but only use the standard bars which come new with the chainsaw. i.e. I don't use carving bars.
They are beautiful.
Cheers for saying and much appreciated, I do love the smell of 2 stroke engines 😁
Finally is it goot for that money? Ninja400 or CBR500r?
Hi, For me it has to be the Honda CBR but Kawasaki are great and so that’s going to be down to Branding and personal choice at the end of the day.
I like that hi vis jacket with the police stripes. That's the way to keep safe on the road. Just terrorise everyone into driving carefully. Is it legal? And where can I get one?
Yep its legal and certainly gets you noticed especially when folk are busy trying to cut you up! Mine was second hand/given to me but I know you can buy similar on ebay or surplus stores. Amazon has this one and reviews look pretty good: www.amazon.co.uk/HYCOPROT-Visibility-Reflective-Adjustable-Construction/dp/B07Z4XQMHH?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Hello from the west of Ireland I was a DR in London many years ago this brought back memories that T7 definitely is a good lane splitter ride safe mate happy new year 🍻
Hey Brian, Happy New Year and good to hear from West of Ireland, lucky you and the landscape there is wonderful, enjoy. Regards, Roy
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles Hi Roy, thanks and a happy New year to you it is a nice part of Ireland have you ever done the wild Atlantic way tour if not you'll love it take care
does it tend to pop alot or is it quite tame with that and just add extra noise?
Extra noise I would say
You took off WAY too much material when you wiped your disks down, now you've gotta buy new ones AND sometimes a new white beach towel or a new king sized sheet... Maybe a comforter is ok to use as a rag for clean up. Just don't use it to dry off after showering. Keep it as a rag!
Wrong buddy a soft sponge won't take any metal off! I have no idea what your other comment was about but I guess in another dimension out there in space it meant something, somehow to someone, somewhere!
What is the bracket called that the caliper itself is attached to?
I guess it's the front brake caliper mount
I pick up my first bike end of this month. Cbr500r 2018 red white black. Also purchased black screen, and black widow can 300mm carbon tip. Red levers and black tank protector. Clothing I got new ruroc atlas 4 core and engine hawk predator hoodie. Can't wait so excited. Your video helped me decide. Thank you again. Hope you didn't get a ticket from the speed cam at 15.26 haha
Hi Bud, Excellent news and sounds like a beauty, for a first bike you've picked a winner. Enjoy and ride safe👌🏍️
Hey, so how's this bike off road? I live in Utah and there's a lot of dirt/spotty roads. I considered adjusting the suspension once I get one.
Hi iv just bought cbr500r 18plate. Would you recommend this slip on for it?
Hi, I think there are louder cans on the market but this Blackwidow was the road legal one and easy to remove the baffle by a grub screw, versus other types which can have a spot weld. The price was pretty good too. If you checkout the Blackwidow website they tell what will fit and what is or isn't road legal. I fitted the same can on the CB500X and made another video which was probably a better audio as I gave it a lot more throttle. Hopefully the neighbours were out when I done it :0) kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5mIzdOsXdm9hdY.html
Nice video Roy. Just subscribed (gary from Gosh) 👍
Hi Gary, Good to hear from you and glad you liked the vid, thanks for the sub!
Great review. Can I ask what's the best tires from the standards, best slip on exhaust that sounds nice but won't upset the neighbours at 7am haha
I put on the Michelin Road 5 tyres on and didn't have any performance problems, the grip in the wet was excellent. I must admit though, the rubber compound went a bit "flakey" and looked like there's an issue, a little disconcerting to look at only but there wasn't any performance issues. A few of my buddies had the road 5 too that went the same way. For that reason I would actually recommend the Metzeler they seem really grippy and I have tested them on a few other bikes. End can wise, well it depends upon a few things really, like being road legal, noise levels and personal budget etc. I went with the road legal BlackWidow which had enough sound with the muffler still in, about £200.00 all in. Hope that and the following helps. This link is when I put my CBR Blackwidow end can on the CB500X kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5mIzdOsXdm9hdY.html This link is when the Blackwidow was fitted on the CBR500R kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3iLl9lriK_YfJM.html
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles thank you much appreciated
I have the Continental RoadAttack III tires on my 2016 CBR500r and am really happy with them. This bike is more of a light-middleweight sport tourer than an all out sport bike and a good set of sport-touring tires is a great choice when replacing the originals.
Clicked on this video to see how the CBR handles London traffic and this guy's driving through my area, I live on those estates near Harris Battersea 😂😂
Just wondering why you got rid of CBR and got this
Hi MT13, This CB500 vid was only a review. My CBR was hit while parked and alas written off. I test rode a lot of bikes after that and even considered getting another CBR but in the end I went for something completely different and got the Yamaha T7. Regards, Roy
I think OEM will be the best engineered system. Very different than after market kit. Following the load paths after watching your install video made me appreciate Yamaha's design. They went to great length's to keep bad crashes from harming the bike.
Hi Erik, I concur, I actually dropped the bike stationary on tarmac and nothing bad to report from that incident. The bars did a great job protecting everything and didn't lose any shape neither.
good commuter!?...standard tires? on the fence between T7 and x´adv honda ...good footage btw...gosh i miss London traffic very much!) used to live in W4 close to Mark Knopfler studio
Hi Marek, Thanks for saying. I have standard tyres on my T7 as I commute everyday. These tyres and suspension are rugged enough for pot hole London and the nasty weather thrown in too. Some of the other benefits are: The height for seeing over traffic, great upright seating position, handle bars get over cars wing mirrors, the torque is excellent, the stock can is good enough for noise levels, balance of this bike is wonderful, this bike is an all year commuter or all year weekend ride. Perhaps a street fighter naked or smaller lighter bike would get places quicker but then again they would loose the previously mention pro's of a T7. Tenere 700 as a mean city street commuter is a thumbs up from me. Regards, Roy
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles thanks Roy! Say hello to Chelsea, Barnes, Hammersmith, Richmond and Notting Hill... the places I loved the most
@@marekhlina74 I will do bud and just seen your channel, Epic! and no wonder you want an Adventure type motorbike!
Nice and relaxing content. Thanks
Thanks for saying Pietro and you're welcome. The weather in the UK is a bit different today at nearly °C
THANK YOU!
Hi , I suggest to buy a " Y" key (10, 14 and 17 size) on the chinese shop (i bought in Italy at 2,90 €)...this key (17) will permit to lock correctly the center bolt because the external diameter is 23,50 mm and fit perfectly with the hole present on the original crash bar yamaha...ciaoo ✊
Hi RD ND Thanks for the tip and festive greetings bud. Regards, Roy
Great ride in my old neck - Tadworth, grew up there but now live in Calif. Cheers from San Diego
Hi Julian2311, thanks watching bud and good to hear from you. Tadworth is a super place to ride around. Regards, Roy
I removed the OEM bars today. They were bent after a few low speed falls Concerning the bolt at the back (that goes trough the frame) I removed it, so now there's just a hole. So initially there is no bolt in there, correct ?
Hi HimyDAD, Yes the T7 originally came with nothing in that centre hole until the bars were fitted because the bolt was part of the OEM kit. Regards, Roy
Would definitely leave the chain guard off
You have one links who he shot i would replay chain the stock chain DID brand look like they are crap...... happen same on my honda cb650f I have to replace with another DID
What a lovely road for this Bike.....!?
Hi Barny, yep there's better roads to ride for sure mate.
Man you really take care of your bike she looks brand new.
Thanks bud and all credit to Honda for their build quality.
Its kinda hilarious with the music
Thank you 🏍😀
Wow beautiful bike I'm 34 just started riding I'm currently on a second hand 2016 Lexmoto Michigan 125 cruiser while I get some experience looking at doing my A license next march was adamant my next bike was gonna be a ninja 650 but after watching this and looking at stats and reviews of 500r for commuting and wknd fun I think I'm sold great reviews especially showing different weather/road conditions here in the uk
Hey MT13, The CBR500R and 650 Ninja are both great bikes and thanks for liking my review bud. All the best with your test next March 🏍 Roy
I decided I was gonna did my CBT never rode before did my 1 hour taster then passed CBT first time
Me too. I was looking to ninja 650 it has more power but more expensive. Then decided to cbr500r as first bike to gain some experience riding and maybe upgrading to 650r later (love 4 cylinder bikes) if feel the need to or just keep this. Just time, personal taste and needs will tell.
I'm gonna make 33 years old in December and just got my A license too.
I got my license driving mt07 but first lessons were with cb500f. So got some taste of the naked version of cbr500r. Mt07 has more engine power same weight very nice to turn, but I found the Cb500f so much fun to drive and the stock exhaust sound is pretty decent with some pops. Loved it.
For commuting do you wear proper motorbike boots or work boots as looking at getting this bike once done my A license and don't know weather just to wear work boots or get some proper motorbike boots
Hey MT13, I wear proper motorcycles boots and would definitely recommend them versus other types of foot ware. Roy
I would definitely require a pub be open at the destination if I had to make that trip often. Lol. That was fun to watch. Stay safe and enjoy.
Haha to the pub and glad you enjoyed the ride Steve. Ride safe. Roy
What size is the bolt closer to the clutch? Is that also a 17mm? Thanks
Hi Gigi, Its 14mm nut with a 17mm bolt head on the other side. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6Rl0phuYZTJidY.html
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles Great! Thank for the quick reply
Not sure if it helps just fitted mine tonight and found access easier by taking the top bolt out from the small engine cover on the right hand side of the bike and slackening the lower second bolt . Rotate anti clockwise then you can gain better access with a deep socket.
Cheers James, all tips and tricks welcome, thanks for sharing bud and am sure this will help folk.
Nice video! Thanks~
Cheers CP
Basically everything you were doing would be illegal in Canada and US.
Ouch, that seems a little unfair for US and Canadian bikers. Needless to say, here in the UK its fully legal, the motorcycle examiner expects to see some filtering on the bike test day and will take the new rider on a route to find heavy traffic. Thanks for letting us know. Ride safe bud. Best Regards, Roy
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles Yes, rules here are really stupid. Only place in the world I know of where you can't filter. The rules for motorcycle are the same as for bigger vehicles. Just sit in traffic, its unbelievably backward. California is the only State that allows filtering. Wish I could ride like you guys, makes a whole lot more sense and is safer.
I had the same problem with that center bolt I ended up using a thick flat screwdriver to hold the bolt on one side and it worked I tightened it up good, not sure why this hole isn't bigger.
Hi SmokinZen, Yep its strange how difficult they made that bolt fit and your screwdriver idea sounds like a great fix. Thanks for sharing. 👍 Best Regards, Roy
Love how you guys in the UK&I go out in the rain like it’s nothing! Good to know in case I get caught in it here in Florida. Is that right leg lift the way you wave over there?
Hi Matt, Great to hear from you in Florida. Its definitely worth taking the time to get some practise in stormy weather through choice, just in case we ever get caught out in it; kzread.info/dash/bejne/e6Gd09KznqnIhso.html The right or left leg lift will do as a wave if the hands are busy. Ride safe bud. Regards, Roy
The speed is in km/h or Mph?
Hi Sergio, MPH here in the UK.
Great information. I am actually thinking of removing my OEM engine bars, i've had the bike since 2019 with them fitted from new, but have heard stories of owners coming off, and breaking the engine bracket at the rear (the bracket that actually houses the rear suspension unit on the MT07 I believe). My thinking is its cheaper to replace the plastics than have anything catastrophic happen to the engine cases. It's probably rare this would happen though. Not removed them yet, but looking into it! Cheers, subscribed 👍
Cheers for saying and you're right, the bike could end up with more damage elsewhere because of the bars due to the type of crash/drop. For me though, I'm glad I fitted them because I dropped my T7 on its side on tarmac and the guards did their job nicely.
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles Yes, I'm still 50/50 on what to do! Glad the bars worked ok. If you get time, check out "Yamaha T7 rally down on TET Sweden" on KZread. The slide is @7 minutes, I was amazed at how little damage there was without engine bars! Also, good tip at the end of your sidestand switch breaks. Ride safe 👍
Fun ride. Just found your channel. Subscribed from USA , thanks
Hey Paul, Thanks for saying bud and glad to hear from you guys in the USA 👍
Bliss. I was a despatch rider in London once upon a time, and absolutely loved the constant line changes. I really miss it sometimes.
Hi Hutchie, It certainly does focus the mind when you have to constantly change lanes 👍
Nice tutorial with helpful tips! Good job. I have just a question.. How do you calculate the Nm for the nuts/screws??
Thanks for saying Fabrizio and much appreciated. Nm Torque settings are written in the instructions which come with the bars. Towards the end of this video I point out they are shown there. For example @22:24 Item number 13 has 40 Nm next to it. Hope that helps. Regards, Roy
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles When someone makes something good I must acknowledge the merit :) Ok, will have a look at the instructions then. I thought you used some kind of special tool to identify the Nm while screwing. But I will ask also the dealer to help me with that :) Thank you again and ride safe!!!

Thank you for your video's. Great job! I Just wgot my t7 and looking forward to have install a crush burs on it. Just wondering why you choose OEM and how satisfied you with OEM crash bars. Me personally like them to but in internet people say OUTBACK MOTORTEK maybe better. Thank you for sharing your experience and any suggestions
Hi Oleh, Kind words bud and I appreciate them. I installed the OEM's based upon they are made by the manufacturer and recommendations from some of the guys I know as well as some of the Tenere channels I follow like MAD TV kzread.info/dash/bejne/hn-LzK17ccjaZ9o.html I hear great things about the Outback Motortek bars too. If it helps, I have dropped my bike already on the Yammy OEM bars and they worked just great! Best Regards, Roy
Looked like a great ride down to the coast. 👍
Hi motonut, it was great to get out with some of the guys following on from the second lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions easing. Super roads and an excellent day. 👍
Hi Twisty, i am thinking about a Tenere, not had a chance to sit on one yet, but how tall are you, you look quite tall in the thumbnail, i am 1,76m, and i dont like tiptoeing when i come to a stop. The Tene looks like a tall bike.
Hi Mojo Man, I am 5ft 11" which is about 1.80m. This is a tall bike but when you sit on it the suspension compresses quite alot and for me I am very nearly flat footing the bike on both sides. I would suggest swinging a leg over a T7 to see how you feel. If you're uncomfortable with the height but like the bike, then it may be worth considering getting the bike lowered or a lower seat fitted. Regards, Roy
@@TwistyRoadRiderMotorcycles Cheers Twisty.
don't you brits need to carry obligatory first aid kit on the bike? thanks for showing the space under the seat.
Hi Tomas, we don't carry first aid kits but that does sound like a good idea though and glad if the vid was helpful. 👍
@@ElCoco1984 That's interesting to hear about the different laws in other countries and a great idea, ride safe bud. Regards, Roy
