    I have a Roland and a StudioLogic. I prefer the action of the StudioLogic also. Mine are a cheaper price range but very similar price on each but the StudioLogic has Aftertouch and Roland does not. I found the StudioLogic to be much better and the form factor to be much better also. The joystick effects is a big bonus also. Haven’t done much of an in-depth analysis like this but I find the Roland has resistance all the way down where as the Studiologic is much more pliable as I force down on the keys. Roland makes me want to play hard while the Studiologic brings sensitivity consciousness into my playing. I noticed it right away.

    What can i say? These are fantastic pianos, i used to pick one over the other and change my mind after a day or two, but now i can safely say : all of synchron pianos are great, to the point that i say it's like choosing a real piano, you only have to worry about the type of sound you're looking for and not sampling/scripting nonesense cause all of them are excellent sampled/scripted virtual pianos❤ My all time favourite is the bosendorfer 280vc which has a very authentic and alive sound to it, it feels as real as it gets Thanks David for this video

    Great video! For great players, like yourself, everything you talk about is vastly important. For most of us players, I don't know if it makes that much difference. I would love to have a relatively nice small grand piano or even an upright Yamaha, but I know my purchase budget and Maintenace budget will never all it. Therefore the best keyboard/piano for me is the one I use. I doubt if I will ever outgrow the limitations of my keyboard. I am thinking of getting the SL NUMA GT. I watched the KZread video of the tour of the manufacturing facility in Italy and it impressed me. By far the most important thing is to get out of KZread and get on the keyboard, whichever one you have.

  • @Comfort_One_Another

    Yeah, I enjoyed watching the Studiologic tour as well. The Numa X GT doesn't get as much attention as Roland, Yamah, and Kawai, but it's a very capable stage piano. I've owned it for 6 months now and my appreciation for it has grown.

    _Very_ interesting, insightful, and helpful review! I generally think of myself as preferring a heavier action, but I definitely prefer the TP-400Wes (of the Studiologic Numa X GT, _not_ to be confused with the TP-400 of various other offerings!) over at least the Roland PH4, Yamaha GHS, and Korg RH3. That said, I haven’t been able to try the Kawai RHIII of e.g the MP11 or Nord Grand(?) and would definitely find value in such a comparison! Now, _that_ said, the most useful thing in this video is the comparison with the actual Yamaha acoustic piano! I am blessed with three acoustic pianos and, interestingly, find that the newer the piano, the _heavier_ the action! In any case, I agree that whatever its technical deficits, the TP-400Wes is an absolutely _superb_ keybed, especially for the price! Cheers from a new subscriber!

    Hi. I wish I could tell you what action I prefer, but I never played a VPC1. Currently the VPC 1 is $500 more expensive than the Numa X Piano GT. The VPC 1 is only a controller with no internal sounds while the Numa has an entire library of sounds. I'll most likely try an VPC 2 if one is ever introduced, especially if they replace the old RM3II action with the newer Grand Feel Compact.

    Hey David, I’m Nathan. We’ve talked a few times through comments on KZread (I have the N1X). The last time we commented back to each other, you told me the N1X was history. This is my question. I just got the VSL Steinway D and I’m noticing that I’m hearing both the stock Yamaha CFX mixed with the Steinway when I play, especially with my headphones. Did you run into this problem? If so how did you fix it? I looked at forums and there’s not really much info out there. Please help… TIA

  • @Comfort_One_Another

    Hi. You have to turn off Local Control (page 37 in your manual) and then you won't hear the internal sounds when you play. You'll only hear the VSL piano. To turn off Local Control it's Function + C6 (C before the highest C). Hope this helps.

    Great study. There were some findings I never thought about. Namely finger sustain. On the other side: I missed some information about pivot point length respectively the difference of downweight at the tip and the end of the key. And did I miss the information about Note-Off velocity being sent? Nevertheless: great work!

  • @Comfort_One_Another
    @Comfort_One_Another27 күн бұрын

    Hi. When I did this video I had not yet taken the Numa apart, so I was unable to determine the pivot length. Having taken it apart since this video, I can say that the PHA50 has a longer pivot length. How much longer, I don't know because I don't have the Roland anymore and I never thought to measure the key length when I had it apart. I don't recall if playing at the back of the keys on the Roland was noticeable easier. It might have been slightly. Both actions send note off velocities.

    First of all, this is an extraordinary video. Incredible job you’ve done here. Really enjoyed watching the whole process. Bravo. Secondly, I have had my Numa X Piano GT for about 18 months now. Just a superb action. It’s not a keyboard without faults, but for $2,000, given the quality of action and sound flexibility, it feels like one of the best keyboards on the market for the money. With that said, I would love to have these improvements you’ve done to my action!

    Wow! Gutsy move, and only 4 hours. I really trust you on keyboard actions, so happy to have you around to test these keyboards for the professional pianists. I have to play whatever stage piano is there, most are excellent, but some are not, I have to adapt to the bad ones. I may have to practice 4 hours to adapt to the bad ones. The good ones mechanically perfect and classically tuned and voiced I just walk up a play, within minutes I'm done. The real greats, like the Steinway Concert D, play themselves, all I have to do is place the emotion into them transforming the instrument into language. Living in a small apartment with lots of neighbors forces me to practice a digital at home, a blessing actually to be able to practice with headphones at 4:00am :). I now have 3 all with different actions which really helps so I am not so shocked when playing the next acoustic stage piano.
