Growing trees all day every day. This channel is a visual diary of all my gardening projects. I graft trees, grow trees from cuttings, plant seeds, plant trees, and do all sorts of gardening experiments. I show you all of the results, regardless of failure or success. My garden is in Southern California, zone 10.

Máximo, Brasil
You make it very interesting and joyful.Thanks.
Gostei de sua camisa, yes Brasil, trabalhei na Fiat..
Obrigado. Eu amo O Brasil.
Increíble trabajo ❤😊
Wonderful, Brasil
Obrigado!
Charge biochar and throw it in after letting it soak up a compost tea mix with comfrey.
Thank you for your clear explanation and sharing the precious criteria of Cambium contact between scion and rootstock and giving us the confidence.
I totally agree on proper soil for growing avocado, I caught the avocado bug five years ago and now have over twenty trees and over a dozen varieties. Thanks for sharing *** Joe***
Nice!
Good share!
Great ❤
What is I pick them up too much late ? Will the tree make flowers even though it still have off season avos?.
Yes it should still make flowers even if you pick avocados too late
Cool video by a cool dude. Have you tried grafting with seran wraps, does it work most the time? What's best grafting tape you'd recommend for high success rate that's affordable ?
Thanks. I've never tried that. Parafilm works fine and is affordable.
Strange to see the custard apple grow good while his jackfruit struggling, I have it the other way around. I didn't seem to see in your posting people growing olive or pomegranates, would they grow better under wet conditions on a 12 inch dg mound?
Those trees don't seem to like wet conditions for too long. The mound can help
@@AJTheGraftMan or a mound with dg
I didnt know that graft fails.....feeling better now with my failures
Ola meu Irmão Aj. Very impressive collection of plants this man has in a relatively small yard. We need more clever growers like this guy! Thanks for sharing.
Yes my brother I agree!
I'm in zone 9b (25deg F). If I plant a single Mexicola Grande tree, could I get fruit by grafting B type scions for a multigrafted tree? versus planting a second tree next to it? Trying to weigh the pros and cons of multiple trees vs a single multigrafted tree.
Either way works. If you're low on space, a multigraft tree would be a better option
if i wanted to be anybody. i would be this man. id love to have exotic fruit trees on my property. dont' even have my own home to do this. :(
I would start with some container plants 🪴
@@AJTheGraftMan they would live their life in that container lol
Great information thanks for posting
where 5 year update on this tree
does this mix also work with backfilling soil when you transplant and mound an avocado tree into the ground ?
This is more of a container mix
Ok. So let’s say I have 8 potted fruit trees freshly potted in big box soil mix. What can I do to move towards a healthier soil mix without repotting and spending tons on new soil mix?
Good question. I don't know.
Learned a lot today...thanks a lot and GOD BLESS
Glad to help.. God Bless
I hear Strawberry Guava as a “rare” fruit and here it grows wild like a weed. It’s actually invasive and they are slowly being eradicated. Amazing fruit but it just takes over the environment. The wood is strong and should be used for building material. I believe anyway. I’ve seen acres and acres of land that was cleared by bulldozers that was 90% strawberry guava. Just piles and piles of it pushed together 40 feet high. Talk about a weird feeling when I hear that strawberry guava is rare elsewhere but a nuisance here where I live.
Yes when i went to Hawaii, the locals were telling me about how invasive it was. I saw forests of it everywhere. It was shocking to see. The fruit is great but I'm happy to know something is being done about it
Did I miss a description/explanation about the labels and the label makers and how long they last. They look great right now.
I believe he explains the labels on his KZread channel
A guy called in to the Australia radio station 2GB, on the weekend morning 6am to 8am 'Garden Clinic', and said his mulberry hasn't fruited ever since he pruned it. He might have mentioned 5 years.
That's strange
@@AJTheGraftMan That's the type of reply Graham Ross the garden show radio presenter made.
DILL! 😤
Dill!!
Dill!!!
hey bro. can i use this soil mix to plant my avacado tree (5 gallon tree) in the ground? ty
This is more of a container mix
@@AJTheGraftMan Can u recommend a soil mix to plant in the ground please? ty
Interesting that the pitanga has resin just like a mango, and I will assume they impart different flavors like you pointed out (Indian mango resinous flavor). With that said, I have a seedling that I can detect a coconut flavor, and the fruit is a lighter red/pink.
Yes certainly has different flavors. Very complex flavors. I have one that taste like grapes, another one that tastes like tangerines. Coconut sounds interesting
Incredible collection. If you don’t know of the late Ralph Velez he palm planted so close he developed his own style called ‘Velezian’ palm planting. You can be the Kelly fruit growing ‘Kellian’ fruit style planting. Keep it up and know you are inspiring a dude from Oakland.
I was definitely inspired. Now i have to plant things closer 🌴
Ants are the ones that pollinate my jujube flowers.
Dovyalis caffra I grew was disgusting fruit. Even birds left it alone. So if he has a grafted variety worth paying extra. My Dovyalis had male , female flowers on same tree. Awful job to dig it out with those fearsome spikes.
Yes the spikes are ridiculous. Definitely a good defensive plant
That is one impressive garden! Thank you for filming and sharing it. Kelly's enthusiasm for his garden is awesome. He really packs them in and made me realize I definitely have more space for plants. :)
Thanks for watching! Yes he made me rethink my garden layout as well! I can pack in more plants. Lol
Can this be done successfully in the summer? Specifically up in the Bay Area.
Yes
How many times in a week will you water this plant ?
Depends on the season. Summer it gets water 2 - 3 times a week
Bro I have 2 avacado plants thats about to go in the ground. As per your wisdom, I have bought DG and wondering if its possible for you to give me a soil mixture to put these in the ground with DG? I do have clay soil in my zone 9b in bay area california. TY sir.
This video might help you: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kZuOvNJ-fqu0gbQ.htmlsi=RnaeH_WKfAhO8Vq8
Is it possible to add perlite and peat moss to miracle grow potting mix and be ok? Thanks for the videos.
Depends what you are growing and how long you plan to keep it in a container
Can he tell us more about the greenhouse the cacao is in ? Do you heat the greenhouse in the winter ?
I believe it is heated but I'll wait for his answer
I have a Ruby Glow Passion fruit (I think) it has the exact same flower and leaves. I have cross pollinated with other varieties, but no fruit.
That's interesting. Maybe your passion fruit is too young to fruit?
Hi, loved the video. I’m going to be doing this for the first time and your video will be my model. One question, please. Did you leave the end of the scion that was not inserted into the branch untaped? I couldn’t tell if you taped the very end or not. I look forward to your answer. Thank you!
I taped the end. Good luck with the grafting 🌴
How big do the Pakistan variety get? Do all the varieties grow fast?
They can get big, like 40 to 60 feet tall. But with consistent pruning you can keep them smaller. There are some Dwarf varieties out there.
I need seeds please
You highlighted the Luc’s but not sure you caught the Russell’s Sweet. That is an extra special Garcinia as well!
Good to know. I'll look into it more. Thanks!
Impressive collection. In a few more years, it’s going to be a rare fruit tasting Disneyland.
Amazing collection!! Wow thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing
Great video! Strong disagree on the Panama berry, it’s a novelty fruit I wouldn’t seek to grow. Better off growing a mulberry and calling it a day.
Thanks. I've never tried Panama Berry.
I would love to have some seeds of the Eugenia
wow, thank you so much
When you make videos this long, the audience wants to see you pee on something.
