Thank you for the update on the transplants, I think it's really important to also show the trees that don't make it (or which aren't doing that well). We can all learn from the failures and it also shows that experience and failure is how we make progress and become better at it. And also that we shouldn't give up.

I had a dream about inarch grafting because of one of your previous videos. I have a couple avocado trees that I'm trying to grow in containers long term, and in the dream I grew seedlings in the ground and inarch grafted them to the potted avocado as a way to give it more nutrients and support but still allowing me to cut them and move the tree when I eventually move apartments... Haha I wonder if that would work!

That's an interesting concept. Yes it can work!

My original or oldest avocado tree I've been trying to save from root rot has turned black. I broke down a bit of the soil for aeration and to check the health of the feeder roots and moisture. I accidentally pushed the tree further down in the pot. There used to be worms down in the pot, but there aren't as many now. The soil smells metalic. It's also got a lot of dead wood material. Until I get my hands on DG, I can't repot it or do anything to save this tree. 😢 Most of the roots deep are white and smell good if squeezed or broken.

I have found a website that sells decomposed granite granite and I think it ships to Bulgaria. The type of DG was 1/4 inch rocks minus something I forgot. I think I'm too late to use it for saving my tree. The trunk has almost died and the tree is exhausted. But when I pruned it I put the cutting in water. Regardless, I think it's best to switch to 100% decomposed granite. I've lost trust with store-bought potting soils. And my avocados are growing super slow even when they're they're healthy. From my experience mine grow only up to a foot a year. Sometimes, they don't even grow half a foot for 12 months. Obviously it's the soil that's causing all these problems - root rot, stunted growth and even pests. But anyways, I think I'll buy DG from that site soon, wish me luck!

Are you growing inside or outside? I found that in the long term lack of sunlight really slows down growth. Also, planting in mounds is essential if you have poor native soil and drainage/root rot issues.

I got a fresh seedling in a water cup that sent 3 separate shoots from the seed. Soon it will be time to graft 3 different varieties onto it!! Taking suggestions for the varieties. How late in the summer is too late to do grafting in SoCal?
