Very useful. Thanks for your time and expertise. I thought Enviromnent was deprecated, but happy it's just hidden 🙂
Hey Jeffy, I don't know if you still have Apollo but have you noticed a noise sound when you try tu EQ hight frecuencies? specially when you are using the Unison? do you know out it? I 'm having that situation rihgt now.
@@Cla-2A I had a noise. Turns out it was from my OWC Thunderbolt power supply, but could be heard on the Apollo. Plugged the Apollo x4 directly into my Mac - noise gone!
@JeffyG well. That's not my case, it's only when I use Unison, specially when you the level or gain, that noise is getting printed in my guitars and voices.
You make good video Jeffy. Keep it up.
Thank you for your research and technical discussion. This video is gold. 🎉🎉🎉
I gotta buy Atoms and try it out. Is it on sale?
Best Riffler video!
Hi jeff. Great work. Thanks
I upgraded to version 6 in the march now it asking to pay again to upgrade 6.5, do you have any idea?
@@vcodev108 yes - I saw that. There isn’t enough new in 6.5 for me to upgrade, but it’s a personal choice. RX has some new audio fix features, but I find I’m happy with the basic, like de-hum, de-click, de-reverb and general clean up. I’m a songwriter and studio owner, not in the business of mixing and fixing a lot of audio for others. If I was a mix and mastering engineer full time, I’d consider the upgrade to 6.5, but as it is……I’ll wait.
Best Drambo video I've seen thus far - you did a great job separating the forest from the trees. Most tutorials miss the mark on the song-building aspect of the app and focus more on sound creation, and I wanted to know exactly how one uses this product to make music. You explained it perfectly.
Thanks. I hear lots of 4 and 8 bar sequenced ‘bits’ on iOS - but rarely a complete song. Although, now with Logic for iPad, a lot more full DAW-like production is being done. Prior, I had used Cubasis and BeatMaker 3.
I think it is a step towards the future of production, mostly because of time. With the fast pace life of 2024 its takes alot of money and time to create. Having software such as this helps keep the creative flow moving faster and easier for younger minds to stay tuned into. Although the process of doing things is inspiring and epic. Not everyone has the knowledge or time to do so unfortunately.
I thoroughly appreciate how you explain things. Thank YOU!
I feel u but 12•5=60 Annual bucks Not to bad
I took the plunge, no shock. 😎
Fl studio was 1st to do this with mobile, no any many sounds but I had sounds
Would you mind sharing the Excel spreadsheet you created? Freebe or paid, let me know. Thanks. I use Cu asis 3 on an Ipad and I could use the spreadsheet as a quick reference. Cubasis does not have any features like Logic. Thanks for the video, I dont have a Sonic Cell yet, just purchased one from Japan after watching your video.
@@myterrain no problem! I’ll but it on my website ‘Resources’ and send you a link in a few minutes.
@@JeffyG I found a sound bundle Excel file under "Resources" it was a blank spreadsheet. Opened in Office365.
Roland SonicCell Patch list can be downloaded jeffagoddard.com/resources
JeffyG, thanks a bunch for sharing your work. Im still waiting on the Sonic Cell I purchased on Ebay, but meanwhile this list will be invaluabe to set up a few templates in Cubasis for IOS. The patch change function in Cubasis is not useful. Again thanks.
Hello Jeff, I have been offered this for just £50.00 which I think is great value ...Can I ask how can I set this up with or without using a pc ( not an appl pc ) ? I normally play a tyros 3 and a casio ctx 5000.. I would like to have a 76 key bed for occasional use.. Can you offer me any suggestions ??
@@manjsingh5073 you don’t need a PC. The default config should work. Buy a 5 pin midi cable. Plug 1 side into the A33 midi out #1, the other into your Casio midi in. Playing notes on the A33 should trigger sounds on the Casio. If not, you may have to configure the Casio to receive external midi (check the manual). Let me know….
I wonder if the Komplete keyboard has the same integration for standard Logic instruments in terms of the command-B parameters. I guess the third party insts won't auto-map at all.
@@BoogieBoogsForever some 3rd party instruments will auto-map if they are NKS compliment (like uhe, Arturia, etc) to your Komplete keyboard. Which 3rd party VSTs are you trying?
You're covering stuff I have been having a hard time finding. Thank you. To follow up, when using third party plugins, you switched over to custom. Did you have to map the rotary knobs before making this video? Or does switching to custom automatically map so that the instrument parameters just work? Thanks again, this is good in depth info. Peace!
@@BoogieBoogsForever I switched to ‘custom’ then did the midi-learn for the encoders in the 3rd party VST.
Great video! I've been doing something similar live with my X4, but it's just me and my electric guitar, so no full band. (Admittedly this is probably overkill but I love using the different UAD guitar amp plugins to change up my sound, and I don't have to lug heavy amps to gigs) I use the HI-Z's on the front as inputs for my guitar, one clean channel and the other a little dirty, and use an A/B footswitch to switch between them. My mic into preamp 3. Then I send those 3 channels to AUX1 & 2, (pre-fader importantly!) and leave the guitar & mic channels muted, but I can tweak each AUX send for each of those channels. I then use AUX1 as a mix bus for the dry signal, and AUX2 is a parallel reverb bus. The AUX1 & 2 sliders can blend the dry & reverb signals. And for my purposes live, I mono both the AUX1 & 2 to avoid phase issues. I then send the monitor outputs to the FOH or my PA system and can then simply use the monitor knob & mute to control the overall volume. Works like a champ for me. My only thing is that I wish so much that the Console's 'Monitor Out' had a couple of inserts for a limiter or eq or other things, but now I'm just being picky! 😁
Nice!
Cool plugin. Thanks for the overview. 😊
Wonderful 🎉
Lost me when you mentioned Logic
Ok

I bought the RD-700 in 2001 and I am still using it until today! Super great product! I learned piano with the RD-700! Super quality keybed! Don't sell it keep it and use it as a main keyboard controller. If you play piano .... don't look any further! Even today the RD-700 Series models remain a regular fixture on global stages, chosen by countless players for their intuitive live operation, expressive sounds and highly playable keyboards.
how do i get the brainworks stuff guitar rig 7 pro etc? do i need to make accounts and do i get activation codes for each individual?
It is a little complicated. With your Izotope order (on their website - under Account) there are links for each product in the bundle. Yes - you’ll get a code for Brainworks to apply, and Yes - you’ll get Guitar Rig 7 from the Native Instruments website. NI bought Izotope, but it seems they still have separate portals for installing products. NI use the ‘Native Access’ app for all things, Komplete, Kontakt, Play Series, Expansions, etc. While Izotope have their own client portal app for Neutron, Nectar, Ozone, RX and such. You need both portal apps to download and install everything.
Great review of all the virtual synths available 👍
Glad you like them!
Excellent vid. Thanks.
Hey great video and walkthrough! I have been holding off because I wanted to see how well the hemisphere plug-in was implemented in console. Do you know if it’s unison supported? Because I always thought you’d want your mic emulation first before you hit eq and compression to make it actually emulate accurately. I noticed your plug in was last in your console chain, do you think it makes any noticeable difference? Thanks!
No. But worth trying first,…
IKEA have done it again, an inctredible sopha,... All synth geeks out there go and tell them to do a PC version!!!!!!!!
Ha ha ha! I started out my music recording journey on that exact model 4-track! I’ve decided to put my skills to the test and go back to recording on a cassette 4-track again 😅
Cool! I was thinking of trying the same. At some point pulling all the tracks from the cassette into Logic to mix and master.
Vidéo parfaite ! Merci
I love this I got it too
Just what the world needs....another subscription service....
Very good
Thanks
I prefer buy a logic pro 9 on g5 but the g4 is good with logic pro 8
I love this, thanks! I also have an Apollo x4 and only recently figured out how to use (some of) it properly. But your video has really rounded out my knowledge more. One question, though: When you assigned some of the input channels to external devices, did you do that through the list in the Input/Output settings? Cheers!
I have a Yamaha CS1x and i can't seem to figure out what to do. Setting the DEFINE CUSTOM BANK SETTING part is where I'm stuck at. I don't understand in what part of the manual I'm supposed to pull the info from. It's confusing the hell out of me.Any help? Thanks
Page 53 of the user manual describes the cc messages for bank and patch control, that you’d use in Logic. Section 1.2
@@JeffyG thanks mate. I'll look into it
This is great. I still can’t figure out what all this LUNA stuff is. I think the way they overwhelm you with upgrade bundles and sales sort of destroys the experience for a new user because it makes this huge pile of junk that gets in the way of getting started. Got it all installed - got the console open, and got lost - your video helps.
What happens when you use up the entire limit - 15 minutes, in the free version? Will I have another 15 minutes next month? The reason for my question is that the word 'monthly' does not appear in the free version.
I’m not exactly sure, but after my free hours were used, I had to pay a monthly subscription.
thank you!!!!!! i've been trying to figure this out for a week. i'd love a link for this.
Exactly what I was looking for, Thank you sooooo much!
One question. We have set list of 5 songs, each has different plugins in console. (Reverbs, eq’s compressors and so on) Loading each preset before each song takes bit of time. And whats worst, Consol doesn’t remeber specfic presets on each plugin (for example if there is compresor with a preset, it’s not loading with my preset but with the „default”’preset) Maybe there is some smooth way to manage this?
I don’t know of a way to load a UAD plugin with a specific preset at startup. I see your problem. We don’t load different plugins for different songs.
@@JeffyG thanks for answer! I'll try to figure it out somehow
I'm a decade out of the analog world and this stuff bends my mind. I just ordered a Twin X USB for my PC along with a Lewitt 441 mike. The Console makes some sense but the shear flexibility of it is a real mind bender and my 70 year old brain is going to have to take a long time to adjust.
Definitely a learning curve if you’re not computer savvy.
Guys can anyone help me with a method on how I can do this: so what I’m trying to do it take drums from a song and set them to the pads or keys on my midi controller on ableton. John Bonham kit sounds or Chad Smith sounds from a particular song or album and create my own beats with these sounds.
The exact detail i needed,, thanks for considering🎉
Why oh why do you say for Absolute Beginners Just like yourself I'm new to Apollo X4. Previously I used Focusrite gear with LogicX. All I would like to learn is everything from out of the box, to setting it up in my DAW. Call me dumb but just plugging it in after registration and downloading its driver. I cannot find anything out there on You-Tube to show the basic setup in Logic. Really Really frustrating.
I can help you. Want to connect?
