You just bought Logic Pro | Why bother with 3rd party synths and plugins?

Музыка

Whether you’re a beginner with Logic or an experienced Logic user, the hype around plugins requires some understanding and consideration. Logic comes with 70 plugins and 25 instruments, so why is there a robust market for 3rd party plugins? This video dives into the reasons and compares what’s delivered in Logic versus what’s available from other vendors. It’ll cover both free plugins and bundles, both VSTs, and FXs. In detailed explanation, I’ll inject my own experience with plugins and use demo’s and examples.

Thanks for this thoughtful explanation. I started composing with Logic but found it overwhelming. I found myself spending hours looking for the right sound instead of focusing on chords, harmony, rhythm. Also, having to continuously use a mouse and computer keyboard to do anything while I just wanted to play music was a big problem. It just disrupted my creative flow. When I play or create music, I want to interact with an instrument, not with a machine interface designed for office work. Then I discovered NI Maschine Mk3, which, along with a small midi keyboard allowed me to create tracks, pick a plugin, write arrange and mix music without using a mouse or typing, except when I had to save my work. I made several complete tracks on that platform. It obviously has some limitations and I still prefer to record and mix audio (vocals, guitar) in Logic or Ableton. What holds Logic back is that it lacks the ability to create music and design sound without mouse/computer keyboard as there are no specific Logic midi controllers. Ableton Live has a number of powerful options (Arturia, Novation, AKAI) and Maschine is basically designed with its controller in mind. The Izotope suite is amazing by the way. Thanks again for the video. Learned a few more things !

Excellent video, thanks! One nagging question for relative beginners like me, though, is whether the Logic virtual instruments, sound-quality-wise, and from a professional use POV, match up to the third party ones. Any advice?

Just my opinion, but the Logic instruments are very high quality. The leading 3rd party vendors like U-He, Arturia, Native Instruments, UAD and IK Multimedia are all top notch as well.

FYI: I'm finding that in your nice videos, that the video and audio go out of sync... And if I hit my arrow keys to move the KZread playhead around, it resyncs. Not sure how you're producing these, but something isn't right. I'm viewing on recent Mac running safari browser.

Thanks, I’ll investigate. I produce in DaVinci Resolve at 4k on an M1 Max MacBook Pro and test the audio sync before I upload to KZread. So, I’ll see if the audio sync varies with the YT resolution settings.

@@JeffyGIve got an m2 ... I don't want you to go down a rathole on this... After I posted I noticed it on another video, not yours. It could be a Safari issue in that it occurs after a long time of running safari without restarting it, or after watching a long video it appears to slip out of sync more to the middle or end of. ... but I'm having a hard reproducing this today... Its 720p and I've got no ads, so not interruptions are happening during play.
