    I came across your channel because I’m looking at an Omega zig zag machine. I see you’ve upgraded. What were your impressions of the Omega machine? Thanks

  • @blacklaboutdoors7285
    @blacklaboutdoors72852 ай бұрын

    lol, yes, I did. Really the main reason was the presser foot height. The omega is a good machine, and really lacking in presser foot height, the power is fine, but I plan upgrading it with the servo motor I took off the Thor machine. I upgraded the Thor machine with a brushless servo motor. Sailrite makes a worker B motor that you can upgrade the omega with, but if you plan on keeping your machine in a table like mine then it makes more sense to get a regular industrial motor and upgrade with a regular sewing machine table or you can get just the leg assembly with the foot pedal. Hopefully this helps and thank you very much for watching.

    I know this is an older video, but looking around for some help! Trying to install the same trigger in my 15-22. Im running into an issue. Im NOT talking about the polymer tabs you shaved off...when trying to put the safety in, theres part of the trigger that just barely blocks the path for the safety to go in the hole. On the rear of the trigger, theres these small tabs that seem to impede the safety from going through the hole when installing. Did you run into this, or have any advice at all? Thank you!!

  • @blacklaboutdoors7285
    @blacklaboutdoors72852 ай бұрын

    First thanks for watching. No, nothing on the inside, just the tabs on the outside. You might have to rotate the safety back and forth while you slide it in there to get it past that part of the trigger.

    @blacklaboutdoors7285 I tried all sorts of wiggling and couldn't get it through. I've only done 3 lowers in my life and always installed trigger, then safety. Today, I took the trigger out completely. Then installed safety and finagled the trigger in afterward. It now works like a charm. Cant wait to throw the can on and go try it out this weekend! Looks like a blast, no pun.

    @blacklaboutdoors72852 ай бұрын

    Sailrite has an upgraded motor you can put on it, I think it is called the worker b motor. Eventually I am going to install the servo motor from my Thor sewing machine onto mine. I believe a huge part of the lack of slow speed operation is the cheap foot pedal control as well

    Thanks, I appreciate the video. The tracks seem worth it. Seems like a good savings and a decent storage bag to boot. The things i appreciate about the more expensive Makita tracks is that the Makita saw has a tab that will lock to the tracks when making angle cuts otherwise you have to hold the saw down onto the tracks with your other hand otherwise it'll want to tip.

  • @blacklaboutdoors7285
    @blacklaboutdoors72853 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching and the kind words. Yes that is a benefit for the Makita tracks, at the moment I don’t find myself doing many angled cuts like that or even long cuts where I need the tracks linked up. But I definitely love how quite it is compared to a regular circular saw and the dust collection is pretty good too.
