Spheric Reptiles, LLC

Spheric Reptiles, LLC

Spheric Reptiles, LLC., was created to explore what makes reptiles, ball pythons, different, what genes are responsible for their appearance, and to captively breed this and other reptiles without applying additional strains on the animals in their natural habitat. At Spheric Reptiles, LLC., we will only seek captive breeding projects and ways to care for these amazing animals.

    Another grear video. I accidentally got into breeding..lol..this upcoming season will be my first pairing and if both females produce all my hatchlings will be 100% double het clown pied with multiple dom and co dom genes. plan is to breed back to get double visuals

  • @sphericreptiles
    @sphericreptiles4 күн бұрын

    lol, I think everyone got into breeding the same way you are. That is a good plan to breed back to get double visuals. It is definitely easier than I looks. The hardest part, in the beginning, is the time between ovulation shed, pre-lay shed, and eggs. I watched Gavin, with Balls2U to get it down. Good luck

    They eat 7-8 times a year? Did I hear you correctly? At what age and size are you referring to?

  • @sphericreptiles
    @sphericreptiles4 күн бұрын

    I was referring to the animals in the wild. Food just does not run across them the same way it does when we keep them. We feed our males every other week, when they are not breeding. Our females get fed every week, every 5-6 days when breeding, until they go off food for the eggs.

    As of now I have 3 females, I started in 2020 but I have made so so many changes thru that time, first got back into ball pythons and wanted to do co dom projects then, went thru a lot of mistakes of getting snakes then selling them cause I realized I could have got something else. Since last early 2023 is when I have finally got it 100% in what I wanna do and now I have my snakes growing, I have a pastel yb enchi 100% het clown born 9/29/22 and hasn’t missed a meal, a normal lav albino 100% het pied, as long as I get normal lav pieds I’d be happy but want to try and get a codom or two in there, then I have a OD DH DG Pied born 4/20/23 and as of now I don’t know weather I wanna pair her w a OD DH or try to get a normal visual dg pied.

  • @sphericreptiles
    @sphericreptiles4 күн бұрын

    You can breed for hets, which would be the same as getting a non visual from a visual to het pairing. Having the co-doms mixed in will only help. In fact, the co-doms make the difference. When you look at morph market, you see the double recessive are without co-don genes. Three females is a good start because it will always give you genetic diversity. Either way, your pairings would be soils and different. 👍💯🐍

    F/T for the win! Safest way to feed your ball pythons! I have about 80 ball pythons, been in the hobby 11 years, every ball python I own eats F/T. I start my hatchlings on F/T…I haven’t had a live rodent in my snake room in almost 4 years! It takes a lot of anxiety out of feeding for me…

  • @sphericreptiles
    @sphericreptiles7 күн бұрын

    Great question. I know that there are some expensive clutches being hatched, because of their rarity. In the mid 90’s an albino ball python was going for over 20K, when that was more money than it is now.

    I agree, however this is subjective, depending on where you are buying your rodents. When we buy live, the weaned are sometimes the size of rat pups and sometimes small rats. This video was just to get people to buy the sizes when feeding: rat pup, weaned/small, then small/medium. Depending on where you live, the access to different sizes could be good, or bad. Thx for commenting 😀😀😀

Yeah buddy I was nice and pissed 😅 next I’ll order through rat pro. How do you like there small rats? Are they consistent?

    On and off food thing is big with balls I guess. Do you think it's because they get fed on a regular basis and the same thing, as in mice or rats....are there that many rats running around Africa...I wonder how often they really eat and what in the wild. I mean no way they eat just rats in wild. I thought snakes are opportunist eaters I also fig most things from Africa are conditioned to not eat as often. 😂even my dog doesn't eat just baby bunnies or Chicks.😂😂 I live in country so if he catch it he gone eat it ....😂😂😂😂 That last snake was fire 🔥

  • @sphericreptiles
    @sphericreptiles21 күн бұрын

    They normally eat 7 to 8 times in the wild, so we are feeding them more than what they would be used to there. I wonder if by the fifth or sixth generations will they switch over to being strong eaters? Not sure. Great question.
