Straight forwards things to try, no confusion on "why" I should do something, very well and concise! My 4 year old male has gone off food every year for the last three years for six to seven months. When he first did this I tried EVERYTHING, nothing worked. He just decided one day to eat. The next year he did it again, and again. I monitored his weight and he's never lost more than 60 grams when he's on strike. He's perfectly healthy, he weighs roughly 1700 grams and is 54" long! I guess that's a long way of saying that sometimes it's just your snake's behavior.

I laughed when I read this, because they do what they want. Your male is very healthy and able to live just fine eating 5-6 months a year. We have two like that. Keep up the good work.

I have 3 BP’s and one of them seems to prefer cooler temps. It’s weird. The other two like 84-88 but he always finds the cooler spots when his warm side is at those temps.

Yeah, they each do their own thing, but it is Goss you give them space to thermoregulate. If they are eating, they are happy!!! Congrats

They eat 7-8 times a year? Did I hear you correctly? At what age and size are you referring to?

I was referring to the animals in the wild. Food just does not run across them the same way it does when we keep them. We feed our males every other week, when they are not breeding. Our females get fed every week, every 5-6 days when breeding, until they go off food for the eggs.
