According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Houston metro area added 139,789 residents in 2023, which is a 1.9% increase from 2022. This is equivalent to one new resident every 3.8 minutes. The Houston metro area's population growth is attributed to two sources: people moving to the area and births outpacing deaths

The Dallas are is much the same Houston. The inky major difference is the weather. We get numerous 100.+ days every summer. We get Phoenix style weather but with humidity.

Don’t do it. TXDOT wants to build the freeway double the size it is now and send all the I-45 traffic through there in the process. It’s a terrible idea, but TXDOT exists to build highways, and that’s all the know how to do, so they always do it eventually. There is not a real supermarket for miles away. The young people think it’s cool because they don’t know what a bad area it always has been. Many young minority people have been moving into the River Oaks and Upper Kirby areas, and that’s great. That area will always be the best part of town and they should take advantage of that fact too. If you can afford a decent place in EaDo you can afford something in 77019 or 77098. EaDo will be going back downhill just like Midtown did. Any location that was ever a ghetto will never be prime real estate.

The property tax in tax will end up destroying the real estate market. The local politicians keep raivit to insane levels. The state increases the deduction but the local leaders then raise it even more. One neighborhood of 100 homes can be built and those higher prices are used to hack up the entire area’s property tax rates. The state needs to take it away from all cities and counties including school taxes which is also insane.

The mosqitos in Houston are horrible! I remember as a kid in the 70s, the trucks that sprayed insecticide for mosquito control would drive down my street (Aldine Westfield Road) in the morning. I also remeber when Hardy became a toll road in the 80s.
