Hello Nicole! Great video! I just want to ask you if you know how to write math expressions in slides? When I write something like $$x_1 = x_2$$ it appears well in slide show mode, but when I export presentation it disappears!

I was initially scared off by Obsidian's UI, but so many people use it (and I'm growing ever more dissatisfied with Evernote) that I figured I should give it another chance. However, after migrating only 7k notes from Evernote, Obsidian takes forever (several minutes) to load. Not what you want in a note-taking app. I will have forgotten what I wanted to take notes about by the time it loads.

What reason did you use to not give up your other nationalities when you naturalised as a Dutch citizen? I read on the IND website that it is a must.

At around 18 minutes in the video you mention a command to convert existing note that seems to be missing from the latest release. Is there another function room that does the same thing?

Found the answer from Zsolt: this will only be visible when you have a markdown note open and the markdown note is not an excalidraw note

@@wilmerlau7520 The thing is that it was just a regular note. I was creating a template with a standard MD file and I was looking for that function to convert it and it wasnt there. I had to create a new file that was an excalidraw note, flip to the markdow portion and copy the json at the bottom of the page, but that doesnt seem like the right way even though it seems to work. Thoughts?

Update - you can do relationships now in notion, like having a property/reference table in excel and then can just dump in one database and set up views

I'm half Dutch, born in Australia and speak fluent Dutch, with an Aussie accent. I look Dutch, am 6'6 and athletic. Even I will never be Dutch nor accepted by them. I’m ok with this. I don't have a right to move to The Netherlands as I was not born there. I have family in Amsterdam, who speak the local dialect and have been priced out by disconnected whordes of rich yuppies in the tech sector. Many of the road yuppies have lived in Amsterdam for decades and can't even order a beer in Dutch. The housing crisis is bad, and prevalent in both countries in part due to this.

No one from outside can genetically become Dutch. Even though, she mentioned they wouldn't accept her as dutch, the point is not that. She, in the video, says no matter how many years you live there, they won't ACCEPT YOU. You will never feel you "BeLong" there But I thought she poorly mixed the two things together and people made it about the genetics. FYI, By Law you Can change your nationality

So awesome. 🙏 I switch from MS Windows to Linux and used MS Onenote a lot and was searching for a Linux alternative and found your videos on Obsidian. You even cover such topics like on this video, a feature I was looking for a long time. Now I just have to train to think in Obsidian.😂 Thank you for your good explanations. 🙏

Great video! How does one keep data in dataview consistent? Like for example you made a mistake "email" should be "work email". Do you need to change that for all notes manually?

You should never use AI tools. There are so many privacy issues with them, and they produce garbage. There's a reason AI is fading out of corporate life no matter how much AI bros try to hype it.

Hi Nicole, I like all your videos but run in a problem with my Obsidian. I am using theme Vileplume and today, all colors of my menu tree on the left side vanished. It looks kind of depressive at the moment. I wasn't able to restore the colors. I installed Style Settings but when I click on it it says: No style settings found. What is wrong?

I just installed Obsidian, and it has a learning curve that i am battling with, looks promising the power of a database, it will take some time from the looks of it before I can say I love it.

The thing that's really powerful about Obsidian in general is that I can do whatever I want and make the application work for me and not work for it. Most other PKMs, they're not bad, but they kind of try to box you in to their method of thinking. Like Logseq is a good application if you like working on a block level and being an outliner, but the downside of Logseq is that if you do a link reference, it automatically creates the note. Which, I use those in Obsidian as a sort of page holder or signpost for a gap I want to fill. So, what happened when I used Logseq, tons of empty pages, because sometimes I go back and delete the link because it's no longer needed. Then you look at something like Dendron, which has some great ideas like dot walking notes. So, you might have projects.project A.meetings or something, and being able to set schemas, also refactoring a note, but also being able to refactor and entire structure. I would love to have that in a more user-friendly setting. Like something between Logsq, Dendron, and Obsidian.
