We are Rob & Tracy (and Dino our Jack Russell). We spend most of our weekends traveling and filming the places we love. We like to film in the early morning as this means that we are not walking behind crowds of people and congested locations. Passed through the village some years ago on the way to a nearby campsite. It is a truly lovely place.
Dartmoor is lovely for camping, there are so many stunning walks and Widdecombe is one of the best villages on Dartmoor along with Lustleigh (Coming soon). Rob.

Yes, although it can get very busy with tourists in the summer. The name is thought to derive from 'Withy-combe' which means Willow Valley.

Thank you for being a regular viewer of our videos Debbie. Upper Slaughter takes its name from the Old English 'Slohtre', meaning a muddy place. As of 2021, the village had a population of 181 inhabitants!

Hi Sue. We started filming at around 8am (which is late for us). It was a Wednesday rather than a weekend too. People started arriving as we were leaving at 9.30am - but even then it was pretty quiet. Thank you for watching the video and it really helps us with KZread when you leave a comment 😊 Rob.

Arrive early for a car parking space! There are quite a few reports of visitors being charged a parking penalty after paying to park. Keep your ticket for a number of weeks.

Thanks Sam. We really enjoyed making this film of Hope Cove. It was a nice quiet relaxing day as we filmed early morning in the middle of the week.
Some of my ancestors come from this village. Their gravestone is opposite the church entrance doorway. They lived in the house above the harbour with the small tower, you can see it in the first few seconds of the video.

This is Cockington in Devon my Uncle used to take people down to Torquay beach with his horse and trap.

Thanks Debbie. Porthleven faces the prevailing south west winds and has become one of the UK’s most famous destinations for storm watching. One winter the waves measured 40ft! That is why it has a double harbour.
@thewayfarerswalk wow! I would love to sit on a bench and watch the tide come in, and see all the boats start floating.
I last went to Porthleven in 2018 and can still remember it well!
