Welcome to We're the Robertsl! We're Kevin and Kristi Roberts and what our channel is all about is drones and finding out what they can and can't do. Currently we fly the DJI Mini 2 drone and we in fact have 2 of them (Jack and Rose). We've recently added the DJI Mini 4 Pro to the mix and we've named him Dwight.
We like to come up with a concept or a test, go out and put the drone (Jack and/or Rose and/or Dwight) to the test, then talk about the results. We get most of our video ideas from subscribers and viewers which is probably our favorite way to come up with ideas. We love to include our audience in our videos and we absolutely need as much advice and help as we can get seeing how we are in no way professionals in this field. On that very same controller all uptaded to the current update ,I still don't know how to even see the compass lol, is it something that I wait for to unlock anyone know? God bless and thank you if anyone can help me with that or not 🙂
lol that’s a great question, buddy. In the lower left corner of the fly app is where the compass will be. If you see the map, click on the lower right or maybe upper right corner of the map. I can’t remember off hand which one it is. Anyway, click on one of those corners and the compass should pop up in place of the map.

lol yea as soon as we figured out the 1.13.8 update wasn’t showing up on my rc2 for some unknown reason, I checked the next day and the 1.13.9 was all ready to go. lol. That’s how it usually works for me. Haha.

how can you install an older version of dji fly? i recently went on and flew my mavic mini for the first time in years and the new dji fly app basicly removed sport mode and everything... other features i used to have now i had to pay for...? If i can go back like yours i could actuallly have fun again
Dang that really sucks. It sounds like they’re trying to phase the Original Mavic Mini out like apple does with the iPhones doesn’t it? I do know you can only roll back fly app versions on androids but I don’t know exactly how. GavinHR is a great resource channel for this type of question though. He has a list of the roll back versions listed on most of his video descriptions and he may even have a video with how to roll back versions in the title that you could find pretty easy. I’ll check his channel real quick and try to get back with you with a link.

My app update for the fly app is 1.13.9 for the mini 2 RC-N1C in the UK
lol yea as soon as Nobby and I figured out the 1.13.8 update wasn’t available for my rc2 (unknown reasons) then next day I rechecked and the 1.13.9 showed up. I got that update all squared away and once I get out to fly I’m gonna test it out. Let’s hope it didn’t make the drone a brick. Haha

Sweet! Nobby and I quickly determined the 1.13.8 update wasn’t showing up for the mini 4 and rc2 controller and then magically the next day I checked and the 1.13.9 was there. lol. I successfully installed the updates so I’m hoping to get some flying time in on Wednesday to test things out. Thanks for the heads up, buddy!
there is a new app now 1.13.9 because there was a bug that stopped the waypoints.. its now fixed in 1.13.9....... yes just a few days and 3 updates ha ah

Suddenly the next day, the 1.13.9 was there. lol. I guess they didn’t want me to have waypoint problems? Hahaha I agree though for sure. Way too many updates lately. Once I get a chance to fly, I’ll test this new update out on the 4 pro. Wish us luck. lol

lol all I can say is I needed that bug spray bad. I’m glad they weren’t those biting noseeums so at least there’s that, right? Kristi needed a break by the way. Hahaha. Oh, I talked to nobby and we figured out I was actually looking for the update the right way, but it just wasn’t popping up. The next day I checked again and the 1.13.9 popped up. lol. Weird stuff.

lol When I was talking to Nobby on the phone we quickly realized I was doing everything right for once (shocker!) but the 1.13.8 update just wasn’t showing up for me. Apparently there were several from the US with the same problem. I noticed the 1.13.9 came out though and had no problems updating to that one on the mini 4 pro. I’m hoping to test it out Wednesday when I’m off so we’ll see how it plays out. We use iPhones for our Mini 2 drones so the 1.13.9 isn’t out yet for those. Boooo! I’m sure it’ll be out soon though.

No one's paying attention to remote ID
Last I heard you don’t need RID on a mini drone under 250grams. With all the restrictions nowadays, why would you put something on your drone that's not required by law??
lol there’s more people paying attention to remote id than you’d think. I know a lot of people are ignoring it for sure, too though. I figure I’d rather comply and not take the chance if I can afford to do it. Anyway, the reason I have a RID module on the Mini 2 is because it’s required for any drones that are required to be registered with the FAA. I know it’s below the 250 gram mark, but I have them registered due to being part 107 certified and I fly them for KZread which is monetized. It’s considered commercial use now so in order to be in compliance, I have to have remote ID on all my registered drones. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting, guys. God bless.

Hey dude. Don't feel bad - I am also very tremulous about doing RC2 / M4P updates. Seems like there are several traps we can fall into around that that end up in bricked machines if we are not careful. Would be very grateful if you could relay exactly what Sir Nobby tells you, and then maybe we won't brick ours like Shaun the Drone did to his last night ! :) Cheers buddy...AeroJ .

I called Nobby when I got back and surprisingly we determined I was looking for the update the right way, BUT the update just wasn’t there. I guess there were several people on his channel saying the same thing so I wasn’t alone. I did get the 1.13.9 update for the Mini 4 pro so I’m hoping to go test it out on Wednesday when I’m off. I guess I need to go watch Shaun’s video on that. He had so many come out in a couple days I must’ve missed one.
When flying my drone I encountered insects, drone props chopped them up and splattered on the drone. Birds always make me nervous. Have you been seeing all the KZread posts on the DJI banned?
lol that’s hilarious. All of our drones have big guts all over them. Actually Jack has a mark on his forehead just above the gimbal. That’s how I mainly tell the mini 2 drones apart. Haha. Oh, and yea birds can be total jerks. They’re like an old buddy I had in high school. Always ready for a fight and they’ll even fight girls (Rose). lol. Anyway, yea I’ve seen a bunch of videos about the ban and it seems like everyone is in the same mode of making predictions. My feeling is it’s gonna pass but it’ll take a long time to be finalized so I’m just gonna enjoy the drones while we can and cross that bridge when we get to it. The good news is the DJI drones we currently have or purchase before the ban are supposed to be ok to continue flying. I’m not sure how these drones we already have would be any less a risk to national security than ones they sell after the ban. I’d think of the threat was as serious as they allege, they’d want all DJI drones banned whether we already purchased them or not. It’s all a conspiracy theory. lol.

I’m hoping it doesn’t fully pass but it’ll take some time to see exactly how it works out. For now I’m not really concerning myself with it but if it is to go through, I’ll do what Buckmanbuck says. At least our current DJI drones should be ok to continue flying. I’m not sure about the maintenance and repair process though. Maybe just fly them till they break. lol

That’s awesome. Honestly if you’re happy with how your mini 2 is working, I’d say stick with what you’re on. It did work perfect for us but there’s always a chance a bug could work its way in. Lol

Heck yea, this thing is really cool. I think it’s really the perfect size to take on a camping or back packing trip. Anything bigger may really begin to get heavy over time. My understanding is they sell these units to fit the region so if you ordered one it would have your proper plug. Don’t quote my on that as I haven’t inquired yet but I will send an email now and ask. Hopefully I can get an absolute answer for you soon. The company seems really legit, too. @@Drone.visionhey again. I got a response from Ruko and they said they only provide the standard AC plug and you’d need to use a conversion plug. But it works with that. lol

Heck yea, man! This will be a huge help when we go camping next time. Always nice to have real power like this, eh? I take you as a tent camper, eh? We prefer the glamping approach. Hahaha. How cool would it be to go on a camping/drone trip? That’s on my bucket list. Especially out where you are. That would be amazing. This power station is light enough to carry in a pack, too. It wouldn’t weigh you down at all.
@@WeretheRoberts actually, we started out tent camping when the kids were in elementary school. Then, after they left home, we got a used Coleman tent trailer, which we enjoyed for several years, until Cheryl got arthritis in her hips and couldn’t do it anymore. I do mostly day hikes now, but backpacked a few times.
Camping is definitely a lot of fun and makes for great memories with the kids for sure. Arthritis is a jerk!

Man, I am so jealous lol. Great review, Capt. Kevin. That looks like a great power station. It has a few more features than my old power station, which I use mainly for charging my phone, drone batt's, and action camera batt's while camping and traveling. The full beard is looking good.
lol don’t be jealous, man. I mean, the beard is still a work on progress. Hahaha. I do agree this seems like a really cool power station. It has a lot of ports available and the company really seems legit. I was chatting with their rep about things to improve and mentioned it could really benefit by having dist covers over the ports and maybe even by having a few more usb ports and they agreed saying they’ll be considering the suggestions for the future models. I’d like to see a 1500 or 2000w model come out next.

I sure appreciate the verses at the end of your videos and I like this particular test. I have a request for a slightly different test of this RTH. Will Dwight still succeed if you start under the trees like you just did, but fly up above the trees and then let Dwight do a RTH? I am a brand new Mini 4 Pro owner and I've been afraid that it would take a direct path to home and fly into the top of the tree.

I wonder if I should move the verses to the front? Anyway, your test idea is definitely one we’ve thought about and have yet to attempt. I haven’t had the courage yet. Hahaha. I do plan on trying it though so I’ll put your suggestion on the list of future tests for sure. My bet is it won’t land and it’ll hover above the trees and say “area beneath unsuitable for landing” but that is if it sees the branches. It may bjt see them and land right into the tree. Now that would suck!!! lol
@@WeretheRoberts I'll tell you what else I appreciate about your verses, they are KJV. I'm asking about this particular test, because I have flown where I am surrounded by 80-100 ft tall fir trees. I fly straight up and then out from there. I've been afraid that it would take a straight path back home....right into the top of a tree. I'm learning to trust it and it has been very good so far but I watched a video where a Mini 4 Pro didn't see a branch and it crashed. No damage was done but it does make me wonder...I don't want to trust it TOO MUCH and then have it end up in the top of a 100 ft tree...which would be bad. I was an early adopter of a Brookstone Parrot AR.Drone controlled with my phone. Those were VERY prone to flyaways and shortly after mine flew away and was lodged 70 ft in a tree for 9 months. A storm finally shook it down. It never really worked after that.
I can say 100% high KP used to affect my old Phantom 4 , it regularly lost all sats when index was over 5 . my mini 4 not so much .
I can definitely understand that. I used a buddy’s phantom 4 last week to test a bit and quickly realized vehicles do interfere with that drones compass. lol. The mini drones we have have never had any issue with the compass around the vehicle so it seems like the phantom is a bit more sensitive. They’ve really come a long way, eh?

So, I'll have to try and remember what I said in this new comment. I do remember askin about that orange fan in your shed, I need one of those, can you let me know the make and model please? I talked to them about having this power station in a work shop and said it could really use some dust covers for the ports and they agreed. Oh wow that’s awesome! This company really seems legit, man. I gave them a couple suggestions like installing dust covers for the plugs and even adding some extra usb ports and they said they’ll be considering the suggestions for a future model. I do think this is the perfect size power station for taking on a camping trip because if it were any bigger, it could really get heavy in a back pack. lol. I can attest though, from 15% to 100% takes the full 6 hours to charge they listed in the manual. lol. Definitely keep us in the loop on how you like it and if you have any problems.

*I use the BLUETTI EB3A 600w power station with phone charger on top & and a small light. I also researched Anker, Jackery, and Eco-flow. What sold me on the Bluetti unit was the 100w USB C port. The others only had 60w. 100w makes a difference when you need Drone batteries recharged quickly in the field. Does the Roku have an Anti-Kevin protection? Sawzall answered that.😁*
Oh yea I’m sure the 100w makes a huge difference. This one may benefit from a bit more juice but honestly for the price they have it at, I think it’s a good option. Blueetti can be way more expensive, eh? And of course there’s an anti Kevin protection. Didn’t you see the kill switch? Hahaha

Idk what's going on, but my mini 3 is possessed. For the first time ever, it went from hovering to flying backward and crashing into a tree. I never had a single problem with my mini 2. Also, I realized that my N1 remote seems more stable than my RC. Weird things are happening.
Oh wow that sucks!!! These RC remotes seem way more spastic and sensitive than the other RCN controllers. The compass comes to mind. lol. Did you have any damage to the 3?
