Hi all! I'm Lidiette but my CW nickname is "Lidi". My preferred HAM mode is CW (aka morse code).
I am keeping video “notes” for my own personal HAM experience so I can go back and see how I can improve my portable station and how much I have improved my CW. I started learning CW in June 2023.
Five months into learning CW I decided to activate POTA as a way to overcome my fear of receiving random callsigns. I still get nervous but I am learning how to relax. There will be good CW days and bad CW days. If you need to take a few days off from CW because you feel overwhelmed please do so but don't come back the next day and don't feel defeated.
We have to battle ourselves to overcome the fear of getting on the air! The CW community is very supportive and they will help you in the process of your CW journey but it is YOU who has to do it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Great activation, Lidi! Nice DX. You mentioned the spacing before the 'k'. Personally, I think sending a 'k' causes more confusion than it's worth. Many would disagree. BK works well for 'break' or 'over' during an exchange or qso. When calling cq, my callign is the last thing sent. Cq <contest | activity> N4AAJ. Part of the beauty of our hobby is that there is no one 'right way' to do it :) Definitely agree with you though, if youre gonna use the 'k', throw some extra space in there... 'k'! 73 de N4AAJ
Nice waterfront area 🌊. Sorry about your umbrella. It matches all your gear, including your shirt. You got N2PPI 🥳! I'm jealous! You also have nice little friendly iguanas 🦎. One day we'll do a P2P.
TNX!! Hope P2P QSO happens soon. 😎
Nice work Liddi, I’m going to try and Hunt you in the future on my first built 20 meters Full Wave antenna I just put together today. Hopefully I will get confident enough, I will take it out in the field and start activations myself. Thanks for making the video, helps me with my CW learning journey N3EIE
I cannot wait to make QSO. Congrats on your ant build. 🎉
RIP ⛱️ 😂 Code leaves my brain too! Glad I’m not the only one. 😊 Great video, Lidi! (No shade 😋)
Haha yes RIP 🪦 ⛱️
OK! Thats it I am moving to Florida!
It sure is a beautiful park! Sorry about your umbrella 😢 But it looks like you got Belgium?
Yes! It was a contact from Belgium. 🇧🇪 I was happy to get him in the log again! I checked my log at home and I had made QSO with him twice earlier this year. 😃
I'm learning CW and your videos are great practice for understanding the flow of a slow conversation
Thanks for watching. I greatly appreciate it. :)
It was so pleasant to watch your video. I used to get on the novice bands and send at 5 wpm. I think you are sending at 10 wpm, which is faster than you may think.
Thanks for watching! Hope to continue getting more proficient. :)
How did you make the unun? Did you buy the parts in a kit?
Hi! I did not build it but someone that I consider my Elmer did. His words "it is a simple 49:1 line transformer using an FT82-43 torrid from Torrid King. Wrapped with #22 wire. The case was 3D printed from a file on Cults 3D. There are hundreds of plans online. You can use any enclosure you like." Thanks for watching. KQ3Q
Great job! I am pretty new at CW also and you remind me of me. lol. I’m sure we will get better as we continue getting better. “Just get on the air” like you said in another video you made. Keep it up and POTA on. - W4TPD
Thanks!!! Reason why I am making these videos with the hope that others like me get brave enough get on the air doing CW and activate a park. Thanks for watching! :)
All videos are fantastic! You’re on the air and that’s all that matters . I like seeing everything you have produced - keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Dugbo! I enjoy your videos and your adventures! I wish I could do SOTA too.
Yes, I activated on the 4th. Boy, it was almost a month since I did it last. Good to see you again!
Nice Savi!! I was glad to activate as well but the heat is unbearable.
What an Awesome message! " Just come and activate" !! Good for for you Lidi! Any video is a good video Lidi!
Thanks Ed ❤
Great job. You don't need to edit when you make a mistake when you speak. No one cares about that - we come here to see you make contacts, not judge your speech! You're just great!
Aaawe! Thanks 😊
That was just amazing!!! I especially liked the creepy bobbing guy in the last clip 😂 I’m also very glad to hear that I’m not the only person that fumbles over words. Awesome as always, Lidi!!! 73 AA4SB
Hahah! Since I forgot to bring my speaker then I just tried to make a silly video. 🙈🤣
@@KQ3Q it was great! I love it!!! 73 AA4SB
Hope you had a great 4th Lidi! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
Thanks Patrick! You too 😊
Nice job, Lidi. I have never activated from inside the car. I cannot figure out the arrangement as I am so used to spreading out. It's always good to see you on the air. Bien hecho!
I was trying out a new key I need to get use to it. Your video gave me some good feedback, however.
Thanks Jimmy! I'm still getting used to hold a paddle with one hand and squeeze with the other.
Awesome job lidi
Thanks Drew! :)
I still haven’t bought a key but your videos are always closer to giving me the push. Well done on your activation.
Get a very affordable key! No need to spend over a hundred dollars for your first key. 🙂
N9FZ is Cainan. He used to be KQ4DAP. I always forget it’s him until after the contact is done 😮. No one cares if you make a mistake. So far, no one I know has been arrested and thrown in prison for that.
Haha true 😁
This heat and humidity is ridiculous. Nice job!! 73!
I know! I cannot wait for cooler weather to return. 73
You encourage me. I'm almost there. LICW is a lot of fun. Ty
Your welcome! Keep it up. 🙂
Great video, Lidi!!! Love the follow mode of the front camera. With regard to contacts…the struggle is real and I am well aware of that myself 😉 YL’s RULE!!!! 😀 73 AA4SB
yes!!!! YL rule! hahah.. Hope not to disappoint LOL
@@KQ3Q NEVER!!! 🦹♀️⚡️🧨regla de las muchachas!
Nice job! Now subbed…
Thanks so much!!!! :)
Hello
Hi there! :)
Another successful activation in spite of the heat, humidity, and mosquitoes! Looks like holding the paddles while sending is working well for you! Sure looks like you are used to it to me! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
It appears so. 😬
Great Job Lidi! Hope to hear you on the air soon!
It was me! WB5MET great to work you and I love your channel. Keep up the good work!
Yes!!!!!!!!! My code copying was so off but I was so happy to get you!
Jimmy rocks 😎
Nice job, Lidi! Thanks for sharing your adventures. That's one thing I definitely appreciate about POTA, you can activate from a vehicle. Outside is first choice. But it's nice to have the option when you need it! 73 es cul
Love the video Lidi, thank you for sharing you are an inspiration. 73 KO4UWU
Great video! Keep up the POTA CW activations. 73 Greg in Vancouver
Thanks 😊
I admire your courage, it’s a breath of fresh air. Before you keep the habit, you need keying using your wrist on a straight key. Should be your whole forearm while your hand lightly grips the knob. More control and less risk of a repetitive strain injury.
Thanks so much!!!!!! :)
KX3?
gotta be loaded 💰hi hi It seems like a nice one too
VENUS SW-3B for POTA and the Heathkit HW-9 for the home set-up
I’ll check it out. TNX
Favorite lately has been the ft-891 for POTA and my ft-818nd for SOTA :)
Since I built the QMX 20-10m kit , it is my favorite
I wish I had built this one instead of the QCX mini.
Great job Lidi!!! Activating in chaos is an added stressor for sure but still the fun is worth it 🙂 - Becky - N4BKY
Way to go! Your sending doesn't have to be perfect. Good heavens - I know MINE rarely is. You just have to be able to complete the contact. That's all that counts. It sounds like that's exactly what you did.
I thought about calling Q, but chickened out. I hunted instead. Good job, Lidi, next time I should follow your lead!
KB4QQJ is always lurking around 😆. He likes balut.
He has been an important elmer in my CW journey. :)
Nice job Lidi - Slight correction, Randy was running 1B (battery).
yes! I realized after...actually Randy texted me with the correction. Reason why I added "not perfect sending and copying from me" =( =( =(
Mistakes like Dah di di di Dah dit are okay. The other station knows what you mean. You went on and that is fine. I'm sure it's not a mistake anyway and really just an artifact of your non-optimal setup. N9XR
Thanks!!! I hope it will run smoother next time. There is always something happening but at the end it is a learning experience. Thanks for watching :)
Excellent! You CAN DO THIS!!
Practice is everything. With the kids, you did superbly though. Good on you!!!
Thanks
Great job Lidi and thank you for sharing. Good Luck to you also.
Thanks!
thanks Lidi!
Good job!
Thanks!
Good luck Lidi! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
