    While the XDP Coolant Filtration System does not require the draining of all the coolant for installation, it is best to install this kit as part of a coolant flush. Doing a flush at the same time as installing the XD143 can help to get debris and sediment out of the coolant passages and make installation less messy.

    Just installed the XDP coolant filter kit in my 2006 F250 6.0l. The kit is not as good as the Sinister Diesel kit I put on another 2006 6.0l. Several problems: 1. one of the 3/8 pipe threads in the main body looked like a kid with a dull tap did the tapping. I had to retap the hole some to get the valve to thread in without cutting metal off the valve threads. 2. The pre-made hose that goes from the filter housing to the T for the hose between the degas bottle and the radiator is too long between the filter housing and the T. The hose from the radiator to the degas bottle is made to cut to fit, nothing that you can do about the length between the T and the filter. The hose is going to need a clamp to hold it down. 3. The machine finish for the filter to seal on is a little rough, most all filter housings have a smooth finish for the seal to contact, not on this one. 4. The Teflon tape they give you if it got any thinner it would be nonexistent. 5. The fitting that screws into the large pipe to connect to the water return sticks into the fitting too far and is actually a restriction in the pipe. When you are putting in the return remove the CAC metal pipe at the top only and it will move out of the way. It only takes a few minutes and is worth the effort. The hose from the filter to the return line is again too long. It can be routed between the pipes of the AC drier. I put some header wrap around mine to cut down on the heat transfer to the AC. You could use a cut and split piece of 3/4" radiator hose to do the same thing. I thought that the extra piece of radiator hose they gave me was a waste of time. If you look at the existing hose there is a straight section around where it goes past the oil filler pipe. Cut the hose about in the middle of the straight section the T will only add about 1" to the overall length of the existing hose. Make sure that you cut the hose so that the hose from the filter just misses the oil filler tube in front a little to the right of center of the straight section. Replace the metal CAC when you are done and torque the clamp to 11 ftlbs or 108 inch lbs. It is important to torque the clamp otherwise you can have a loose pipe or you can crush the CAC pipe especially the plastic ends.

    @@2-meanls3s56 NO if you are installing it in the recommended place and you do not want to make a slight mess you need to drain out about a gallon (I used a gallon as the level of the coolant needs to be below the top of the radiator 3-5 inches). Whatever is in the heater radiator can leak out of the hose that you remove and anything in the line will leak out. You should check the degas bottle to make sure it is empty as it is the high point in the system and will drain out of any opening you create below that. again about a gallon or so. If you drain the whole system it is a waste of time as well as the added risk of getting whatever in the coolant that you do drain out. If your coolant was good to begin with the filter doesn't need the additional load and the filter is only a bypass filter which means it doesn't filter all of the coolant all of the time so any trash you pour back in gets stuck where ever it goes to first. Filter any coolant that you pour back into the degas bottle your oil cooler will thank you over and over especially if you have a stock oil cooler.

    @@XDPDiesel No questions. Sometimes I learn slow and sometimes I learn hard or expensive. What I learned this time is that to a certain extent my time is more valuable than working with a cheaper product. The only real problem I might have at this point is if the filter leaks or not. Filters are designed to seat on a smooth surface, tooling marks are not a smooth surface. I cranked the filter down to the recommended 1 turn past touch. If it leaks or if I am bored someday I will take it off and mill it down to the correct finish for filters. This is not rocket science in the future I may just make my own. Cast housings are cheap.

    My diesel shop has told me they have really like these engines and have put many in their customers Ford, Chevy and Dodge trucks with great success. I am getting one of these engines installed in my 2003 F250. BBB shows them with an A+ rating, but no reviews. Several popular diesel companies sell them on their websites. Guess I will be a test guy for a review when I get mine in and back. I am upgrading many parts for a good solid pulling truck. My truck build is for a solid camper puller (about 8k in weight). New Dieselsite Adrenalin HPOP, Oil Cooler, Water pump, updated pump cover, all OEM sensors, OEM thermostat, OEM glow plugs and harnesses, and a long list of smaller parts. (stock tuning).

    Just installed this kit and I didn't realize it till I was done that the supplied tube that goes under the hotside pipe was like 5+ inches long and not 3-1/4 like in the video and now my heater tube is almost touching the downpipe. I'll have to go back out and lose more coolant removing it and making it shorter.

    Every XDP Coolant Filtration System XD143 comes with hoses that do not have crimped fitting that are designed to be cut to length. We provide a little extra hose as no truck or installation is identical, so this allows the installer to use the amount of hose that works best for their installation.

    @@XDPDiesel Roger that, maybe you can just include that info in the install video. The video says install your 3-1/4in pipe, not measure and cut your provided pipe to size. It’s all good, I’ll just remove it and cut to size. Thank you for the response.

    Just saying it's not better than factory I bought one and it made my transmission shift harder oem shifts like a dream compared to this

  • @XDPDiesel
    @XDPDiesel3 ай бұрын

    The XDP 5R110 Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid XD306 is designed to help extend transmission life, and the side effect of this feature is quicker, firmer shifts. Ford designed their firmness with comfort in mind at the expense of transmission life. The longer the shift length is from one gear to the next, the longer the clutches are slipping out of one gear into the other. So the quicker the transmission shifts from one gear into the next, the less overall clutch slippage

    So in the dcr pump the bottom of the pump where the motor turns it is separate from the pump heads the cp4 pump is not so the cp4!would Gernade and all the metal from the lower end of the pump would send the metal to the pump heads and pump metal filled fuel trough you lines, fuel rails, and injectors it would also go trough the return and kill your fuel cooler. The dcr pump even if it explodes with is less likely the metal will stay contained in the bottom of the pump and not sent into the rest of the fuel system
