Lovely layout , nice to see it again, I live near here, have some great pics somewhere, It looks larger than the real towe, or how I remember it anyways.

Thanks for the kind comments. The layout has a bit of artistic licence, having features of the real Oakamoor quarry as was and some total false bits to make it work in the small space. The hopper was made slightly taller than the real thing as when I originally made it, I never planed to make Oakamoor. It was built around a fairy liquid bottle to hold the sand.

What did you use the scan for? Are you planning on sharing/selling it?
@AndySollis Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments. Sadly, we didn’t get to do anything with it. It was done by the crash investigation team of a police force who were looking at if it was possible to take their scan and print it as a model. It’s sadly highlighted a few facts… the scanner doesn’t work inside the car u less you stand the scanner next to it, and at the time, the files the scanner used were totally different to the printing program file extensions, so it went no further.

@@AndySollis what a great story but what a shame, a few interesting bits of information in there! If you still have the filed i’d be happy to see if I could convert them? I work with scan data, mesh files and engineering software daily.

We are currently replacing track along here, lifting what’s left as it’s beyond use for anything other than storage. The sand left from the working days has remained in between the wooden sleepers and rotted them as it’s a great sand for glass, but also great at retaining water. Hopefully once we get to Leek you will see some progress south towards Oakamoor and also back to Cauldon Lowe

Pre Beeching act, yes. Singled in the 1970’s when it was freight only to the sand siding. However, this section has now been lifted as the track and sleepers were worn out and for how much use it got, it’s made more financial sense to lift it and weigh in the scrap value. Sad loss but there we go.

@halo3lad09 Well no, but that's because this video is 2 years old. The incident that you refer to involved a pair of Russian Tupolev Tu160 and they were intercepted first by a pair of RAF Tornado F.3s from RAF Leuchars no doubt with the Typhoons hot on their heels, and the same thing could have been happening in this video,
