Wow! What a find! Great footage. I believe that is the same car Don used to win the 1984 U.S Nationals. When I attended my first race in 1986, Keith Craig had an alcohol funny car with the same paint scheme as the dragster had in this video.

How am I just now seeing this? Amazing little piece of history. I raced at many little strips like this. Brings back a lot of great memories. Competition was tough. But we all helped each other. Everything was friendly and laid back. And yes, it was dangerous. We used what safety gear we could afford. Never worried about guardrails, (or lack of), poles, or trees. If you were a fan you could get as close as you wanted. We never realized how cool it was. Never thought it would be so different now.

Great to see early IDBA Drags good stuff with Carpenter, Vance, SBK Mike Keyte, Bo O'Brochta and many more brings back found memories it's hard to believe it was 35yrs ago !!! and most of us are in our mid 50s to 60s now !! And we've lost so many > Dave Schultz, Marty Blades, John Myers, Elmer Trett, John Sands, Randy Mason, Bo O'Brochta, Jim Schumacher,Russ Collins. Sad that so many didn't know how great Motorcycle Drag Racing was,the money was poor and the miles were long but that perfect run felt so good !!!! You just couldn't beat that rush !! And of course we also lost the founder of the IDBA Tony Lee ! God Speed
