    Having separate FOH and monitor feeds from a splitter is so essential and wonderful! I hate when band members get that confused and distracted look on their face when I start sweeping EQs, or start singing/playing different when I adjust gain. Problem solved. I give everyone an iPad on a mic stand mount, show them the basics after I dial in the gain and basic mix for them, and walk away. :)

    I've flown on a few tours in the past and we've always downsized our rig to rely on rented gear/backline and take only what we could check in without having to pay excess baggage (if possible). I've always been curious about the logistics of flying with all that gear. I'd love to hear how it usually works or how it was on this tour.

    It’s very tiring when you have back to back shows and you have to fly every day. On this tour we had lots of days off in between shows to travel and rest. But I’ve done yours before where you fly every morning and do a show when you land.

    @@RattlinBonesClub Yeah the latter seems to be what I've noticed with a lot of acts, which honestly sounds like a logistical nightmare waiting to happen since all of those cities are only accessible by flights, as you've mentioned. Respect!

    All travel costs and accommodation is covered by the tour from the moment I leave my house 🫡 Usually this is the job of the tour manager to arrange along with the bands management team. To make sure all the artist and crew can get to the shows and have somewhere to stay.

    Great job, love those videos 😍 I have question: what's your experience in mixing with a dB limitation as it is often the case at festivals? Do you have any tricks for maintaining a fat and punchy sound while staying below the dB limit? Thanks :)

  • @RattlinBonesClub
    @RattlinBonesClub12 күн бұрын

    Try to keep your peaks smooth, I usually try and use a few compressors at different stages of the mix, all doing a little bit. Comp over the LR doing a couple of db of reduction to keep it even. Push the big sections and choruses but then pull down bits like the verses to give you a few db movement on your average

    Have you ever worked on a gig or on tour and the singer is to lazy to sing so they just lip sing what work would you need to do to make the song match the singers mouth movements if that makes sense

  • @jamesstevenson9340
    @jamesstevenson934017 күн бұрын

    That would be all up to the artists their IEM's would just play the playback more than likely and they just mine to what they hear

  • @RattlinBonesClub
    @RattlinBonesClub16 күн бұрын

    I've not really had to do that before, I don't think there is any real way to hide if someone is lip-syncing. Maybe you could side-chain the track channel to a gate that only opens when the singer actually makes noise down the main mic channel? and then keep the real vocal out of the mix, but then this would require the singer to still be singing loud on the stage.

  • @RattlinBonesClub
    @RattlinBonesClub16 күн бұрын

    Or yeah this, make sure the singer has plenty of the track vocals in their IEM mix and make sure they learn every word that is on there haha
