Welcome to Gerry's Diy where I do a little of everything from Diy, Flying Paragliders, Making Paramotor trikes and of course making great Working Waste Oil Burners. There are lots of Plumbing videos here too! Cheers Gerry

Using Coke cans as structural support struts is super sketchy, this guy needs a Darwin award.
It's an ingenious method, but I think it's a much better method if you do it with excess pressure at the brake fluid reservoir. Vacuum is not the best method because air can get in past the thread of the bleeder screw. Overpressure, on the other hand, pushes the brake fluid out there as well (in a negligible amount). Maybe that's why it was bubbling constantly for you too and not because of the fitting of the pipes.
It's faster if you use bigger hose and head and shoulders big bottle pump
So if you going replace the brake fluid like you should every si and so many miles you do a couple of pumps to get the flow started and then just turn the tube so it points down instead of up and let gravity do its thing for the rest of the job? And be careful telling people to use just any grease when working with brakes bad stuff can happen! You got a million views so lots of people might f... up and misunderstand things and hurt themselves.
Bruh I saw this and instantly laughed
For most shops, this oil burner is large. It is also not hot enough and could use tertiary combustion for completed hydrocarbon conversions.
So hopefully this comment can also help a little on top of this awesome video. Probably best to get a pedal from a scrap car with the black plastic clip. When putting back together. Put white pushrod clip on first. This isn't easy . I used circlip pliers to separate ends whilst pushing on very hard. Have good pedal ready and put into place and push onto white clip that is now on the pushrod. Make sure pedal is roughly in place before pushing onto white clip. It should click into place. Now put bolt in but the time put bolt in from left IE console side as access from near steering column is restricted. Push bolt through once pedal is lined up. Don't put nut on yet or just loosely. Take zip tied spring. You could also have this off the scrap car. I zip tied either side to compress equally. Don't need a vice. You can press on something with a small gap with zip ties in place and tighten as you compress. Make sure spring rear black part is correct in position. Fully depress pedal and position white end of spring on black prong on rear of pedal. Release pedal gently making sure it is fully engaged. So up bolt to somewhat done up. Cut cable ties Use snips , wire cutters or similar Fully do up bolts. Spanner on steering rack side and ratchet on center column side. Then put on black clip on rear of pedal which the clutch switch actuator Hope this helps
the only video I've found showing this operation. Thanks for posting
Oregon here!
Hello Gerry ,it's ally The video is great Jayden loved it
Jerry! Why not 10 mm oil line?
I this is the only video on this problem. Mine has just broke in the same way. Interestingly in the Haynes manual it says to make a spring retaining tool which they even picture but not the dimensions. You'd need a metal fabrication place to make it but I feel the zip tie technique makes more sense. I took one from a scrap one today and even though I didn't have to be too careful it was quite difficult to remove so not looking forward to fitting it 😂. Thank you for this video
Can this be done on a completely empty brake system as I just changed all the lines
Hi Gerry! I'm friends with Ally and Jayden. I heard they met you. You seem like such a nice guy!! 🥰
Hi Sarah. Here's a link to the Slieve Bui paragliding video on Rumble ( like KZread) . Jaden is at the end of the video just after I landed. You can select the quality of the vieeo up to 4 K rumble.com/v56tbui-paragliding-slieve-bui-ireland-july-2024.html Thanks for commenting 👍 Cheers Gerry
just to be clear, this type of burner cannot be used with waste oil? If not is there any types that can?
I need links for all hoses
If only i could make it work for a pellet stove
My jaw dropped at just how genius this is!
Damn,,, why did I have to wait 30mins for my friend to come help me bleed that shit lol
Hi Gerry , what did you use to make the valve on the oil drum?
Hi Gerry, being a chemist with masteral degree, its my resposibilty to inform you and your viewers thst your process produce white to grey smoke called ACROLEIN. This is a very dangerour cancer causing chemical that might endanger you and your viewrs family. Kindly google this chemical and pls retract info like this from the general public. Be also responsuble before you encourage others to do your reco. Pls dont be offended as I know you havehelpful objectives.
Whats the smoke like comming out of the stack
Hi gerry I have a couple questions for you on waste oil burners wondering if you can help?
I watched this video for the 1st time about 3 years ago. I had never done any kind of work on my car but decided to replace my rear rotors, calipers and pads myself by watching KZread videos. This was one of those videos! This little "life hack" has stuck with me as I've apparently become an amateur mechanic since that brake job. 😂 I just came across this video again and wanted to say thank u! Definitely genius!
Make sure reservoir cap is of
amazing clever
Sin ventilador !!! El mejor modelo de aceite!!!
Where can I get one
Hi Gerry, those three years have passed very quickly, and now the same problem as before, no burner activity, just the circulation pump. The problem was the two thermostats on the top of the boiler that set the normal operating temperature (60-70C) of the water and the "limit" setting (90C) to prevent boiling. Cats have jumped on the cable to the thermostats and disconnected the thermostat! The Riello burner is still going perfectly after 20+ years of service. I reviewed all your videos to get up to speed before working on it - thanks!
I use a syringe with a clear tube attached to where the needle would go. Like this, you keep the fluid in the syringe, no need to hold a bottle to catch the fluid. 😉
hi would this method work if I change my caliper I'm only changing the rear caliper that's two of them I just want to know do I bleed the whole car or just the one I'm changing please can someone help me that be great
I used the same set up with hydrolock a few years back .
Super dobro 😊
I love how every person on here talking about how putting bad stuff in air, but yet they drive cars that doing same, buy products made with oil.
👋
I've been working on cars 30 years I could hug him I appreciate it boss thank you from Houston Texas
Oil?
The thinner hose will still work alone if you take a small nick at the 12 and 6 oh clock sides on the end with a penknife and leave it sat in boiling water for 30 seconds or so, will soften it up enough to fit over the brake bleed nipple, might be of use to someone here. Great idea btw jerry i never thought of this i will try it on my next caliper change. Great content
You are the king of oil stoves. Watched all of your video
hello, are you able to shed any light on this machine, we just brought it and seem to have a very loose belt which i believe should be taught, i believe it is for the hight of cutting blade, under compressed air i believe, hopefully you can help and i can send or show video off issue if you can thanks
The bit nobody ever shows, is…….somehow there is some kind of small fitting that connects to the gate valve outlet, that is inside the T piece. I’m guessing this centres the flow an£ avoids the oil just dripping on the inside walls of the sight T. Is this just bonded into the bottom of the gate valve outlet?
4 years ago, your videos helped me sort out my ancient oil burner (and now runs quieter and more efficient) and now you've been invaluable for my tired old Honda Mower. I have now replaced this damned timing belt about 4 times over 3 years, but with spurious ones. Am going to buy a genuine belt this time and hope it lasts at least a couple of years. I know 2 of the previous breakages were due to sticks etc on the lawn, but why it failed yesterday I have no idea.
Just get someone to push the bleeding brake pedal for you. Less change of bubbles going upstream. Silliness putting peoples lives at risk to avoid asking for help. Sad really…
Come back Jerry!
Thanks Gerry, a very clear and informative video!
