If you included an example of stripper that had methylene chloride, around 90% of the paint would have come off within 2 minutes and left bare metal.

Do you clean the metal before using the grinder to remove mill scale

Absolutely what I was looking for. I’m a complete beginner when it comes to car repairs etc. I’m a car person but not a mechanic. This video was completely what I was looking for since I had no idea where the lift points were for the miata. However I don’t think the jack stands should be on the frame at the very ends, not on the ribbed part of the body.

There’s not even anything wrong with my Miata, I just love rewatching this video because of how relaxing and in depth it is.

Hi, Is the reflection making some discomfort to your neighbor in front of you? Mine is closer to my hose rather your but I wouldn’t cause any discomfort over my own comfort. What can you share about?

Great vid. I've got 2 big trapezoid windows in my great room. When the sun is out it's like being in Krammer's apartment with the chicken roasters sign.

Thanks for the helpful video! 1st oil change successful but whoever designed the oil filter to go where it did in the Miata is a jerk with tiny hands

Oh, yeah millscale is a problem. Wire brush does not take it off, and those flap discs barely take it off. To clean all the millscale off of a project as big as the one in the video. You could easily burn up 10 flap discs at about 8$ a disc, maybe even more. I am going to try using a DA sander, but if that doesn't work then I will do the vinegar thing. Sandpaper for a DA is a lot cheaper than flap discs for a grinder. thanks for sharing, how you do it.

You should have had the thermometer gun right next to the tape, at that distance your gun might have a 1 foot reading circle.

I realize this video is older, but I've been working in metal fab for about that long and I think you might find the velcro head and scotch brite pads more economical. I use both 4" and 8" at my work. Just make sure you have putty knife or paint scraper handy for changing them to get between the hook and loop surfaces. Also, for structural surfaces, 16 grit pro will definitely eat all the mill scale but not for very long. We're looking into the new diamond dusted wire wheels at the moment because the Lazer removal demo we had was disappointing. Great for rust but not so great for mill scale.

I purchased a coil with the built in resistor for my 1970 240Z. You said that you don't recomment bypassing the external resistor. Would you recommend getting a coil that does require the external resistor rather than getting a coil with a built in resistor? Thanks and great video!!

Even if it's just a 4 degree decrease with the reflective insulation, the aggregate heat gain probably makes it worthwhile.

The car looks like it's rock solid and look how high it is! I was crawling under the car with just enough room and scared it will fall on me and stuff. I'm gonna try these tips. Thanks!
