Wonderful to have you back. I'm so glad that you're well again. Welcome back. I hope life is so much better from here on out! Kudos on advocating for yourself. As a fellow fat girl, I totally relate. People dismiss things on that alone.

I am SO relieved for you Midge. I’m so glad you’re feeling better and I’m so sorry your doctor (& other er docs) didn’t take you seriously and that you had to suffer for that long. I’m seriously so proud of you for standing up and advocating for yourself!!!

I had my gallbladder removed while 25 weeks pregnant 10 years ago. Thankfully once I told my OBGYN my symptoms she immediately said it sounded like gallstones. I went to a specialist right away and a month later had the surgery. The gallbladder attacks while I only had 1 horrible one, it was the worst pain of my life. I’m so glad you got your surgery!

You're incredibly strong, and I'm glad you're back and better. I can have a hard time speaking up, so this is a great lesson in trusting yourself and advocating when you know something's wrong. I'm not informed, but what your GP did sounds like malpractice, yet it's all too common. Nonetheless, excited to see your ideas with this newfound health and happiness. A wonderful Halloween gift.

In my late teens, I started experiencing pain. My doctor checked a couple of things, then eventually did an ultrasound on my gallbladder. He then sent me home with a note to my mother, telling her I ought to be checked for hypochondria! I was devastated. The pain changed and got a lot worse. I started having attacks that had me taking max home pain relief, while sitting cross legged on the shower floor, with just the hot water flowing on my back. Sobbing. After months of almost daily attacks, I had an attack that didn’t ease after the 6ish hours it normally would. It lasted 2 days. I could not stop vomiting from pain. But I had previously been refusing to go to the emergency room, for fear of being told nothing was wrong. This attack was enough for me to risk it. After a bunch of stuff happened, I was given Pethidine and was too exhausted to stay awake. Yet the lovely doctor I had in the ER, snuck into my hospital room to whisper, “it’s ok hun. We worked out what is really wrong. We are going to make you better.” I happily cried myself back to sleep. I initially had gallstones. But by the time my original doctor checked it, the stones had left my gallbladder. The stones moved and got stuck in multiple bile ducts, and more importantly, I had stones go into my pancreas. My “attacks” were pancreatitis attacks. Things as simple as drinking a glass of water, would make my stomach bulge enough to bump the pancreas, setting off another attack. I was repeatedly told later, that I was lucky to have survived the amount of attacks I had. It took months of nil by mouth and multiple operations, but I was eventually fixed. Yay. I am so sorry your issues took so long to diagnose too. You are going to start feeling so much better now.

Yes! Someone validating your symptoms and knowing you aren’t crazy is amazing. I cried when it happened to me. I had crazy feelings from my gall bladder and the pain “wasn’t where it was supposed to be” ✅ got that removed. Had strange scary heart palpitations that is a benign thing- but it was when the ER person HEARD the skipping when I cried! I was like YES THAT!

The things the gallbladder can do to you is nightmare inducing! I went through absolute hell for over two years, at the end was down to 102 lbs (my normal is around 170 ish) The first attack I had I seriously thought was a heart attack, too! Went to the ER and just told my potassium was low and sent me home! The attacks that would last for hours on end (towards the end would last for 8+ hrs), fear of food, and fear of leaving the house my life was literally nothing for those two years! Finally convinced my doctor to get an ultrasound done and found over two dozen gallstones. Got it taken out about two weeks later, which was back in 2017, and have been good since then. Took me another year or two to get comfortable with food again and now back to 177lbs.

That's what I went through in February. I lost 30 pounds in a month because they didn't check my gallbladder. Then, they said they stones can pass on their own. I went to the er 4 times and they were so nonchalant about me being sick and in pain. Finally, the 4th time, the er doc was like "We're preparing you a room for emergency surgery". If I had not gone back, my surgery could have been months away. I literally could only eat once a day and it was toast. I'm glad you did something about yours too! Glad you're back!
