    maybe need to have some torque feedback where if one reel has a problem the other won't pull. so you can fix a jamb on the fly before it falls apart.

    That would be ideal, unfortunately it’s likely the most expensive solution, time/money wise

    Hey man, cool contraption, but you need to find a solution that helps distribute your weight better. Lots of risk of shoulder or bicep damage.

    Routing the most tension into a full-body harness seems to solve all the issues! Then make the rope higher strength and the motor a little beefier, and you're on your way to becoming a real-world superhero

    Thanks for the concern! If you watch any of my videos showing the actual rappelling process, you’ll see the device works just fine. What you see here has nothing to do with weight distribution. My weight is distributed through a friction module on my wrist. This is not uncommon for gymnasts like me. It is actually mounted on a high bar grip which is already built expressly for this purpose. There is no need for a full-body harness for this

    @theAmazing oh ok ur a gymnast. That changes it a bit. I was sort of imagining a semi fit engineer who might not realize what could happen to the shoulder especially when turning. I was in the army for years and the number of people with shoulder damage and bicep tears from airborne jumps is truely astounding. I've seen guys with full tears and their bicep in full retraction. Granted that's the additional weight of a combat load, but still I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

    I wonder if the spool is getting stretched out as the rope is wedged in between the previous windings

    Maybe a more dense rope? Looks like its just compressing into itself.

  • @theAmazing
    @theAmazing21 сағат бұрын

    Yeah I originally had a more dense rope, needed more and ordered the same, and they sent me this :/ that’s the trouble with eBay I guess

    PLEASE TALK ABOUT WALL CRAWLING??? is it possible to climb or to cling to walls like spider man? Using the gecko nanotube stuff or electrostatic adhesion or with microspine gloves/shoes..? Some type of suction device or gadget? What is the superior type of technology for wall crawling like spider-man? What would your approach or solution to this be??

  • @theAmazing
    @theAmazing21 сағат бұрын

    My approach varies from surface to surface. Watch this video to see the dry adhesive I developed: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGt3ktODkdfRo84.html . It's likely that this type will only really work on glass or polished/reflective surfaces. Brick will probably require several small yet macroscopic hooks (this was built in the wall climbing episode of Prototype This) that share tension. Suction is obviously already done but it requires electrical power and also only works on non porous surfaces.

    Question, why the painters tape over the print bed? Doesn’t that just ruin adhesion?

  • @theAmazing

    The adhesion between the TPU filament and the bed is TOO strong :)

    @@theAmazing Have you considered using garolite as your print bed? Makers muse has a great video about it, I use it for all of my prints and it self releases the prints after they cool down

    So i know this probably wont be answered and this video came out 2 years ago but i want to make web fluid for my webshooters and dont know much about chemistry. I know you use r134a but i dont feel ok using that because of how dangerous it is. Is it just something thatd be used to propel the fluid or is there a chemical reaction involved there that I cant recreate with anything else? And if theres alternatives what are some good ones to consider? My dad said I should try C02 but idk if thatd actually work or if itd cause problems or be dangerous

  • @theAmazing

    Yessir, the friction is enough to mechanically suspend me in midair without descending. I can control the descent with a mechanical lever I can operate with my other hand!
