My favourite underrated spell is reverse gravity, combine that with a sphere shaped prismatic wall directly above your targets and you'll have all of them falling through every wall then taking damage from each one

4:00 I've been thinking of playing a character who only speaks sign language. I would of course have to talk to the DM to make sure there is a character in the party who speaks sign language. Or even exchange my languages for being allowed to teach sign languages to other PCs. But I am not unfomfortable with RPing, the reason I would is to force me not to be the face of the party which I often default to otherwise.

Nothing makes you feel better as a grave cleric than preventing a tpk by bonus action "spare the dying" one downed ally and casting "cure wounds" on another

Gotta give you props for giving the Grave Domain cleric all the love!! Circle Of Mortality, Path To The Grave and Sentinel At Death's Door are ALL killer abilities!! Eyes Of The Grave(essentially the paladin's Divine Sense) kinda meh!! I'm playing a Hill Dwarf Grave Domain cleric in an upcoming campaign, and I'm so stoked to play it!!!!!

Hey Rhys, one thing about the Trickery domain you glaringly omitted is that the Invoke Duplicity not only creates FOUR duplicates at 17th level, but it also requires your concentration(as if you're concentrating on a spell)!! Therefore, if you take damage and fail the concentration check OR you try to cast another concentration spell, you lose the duplicate!!!!! Not exactly the best use of action economy, if you ask me!!

Hey Rhys, I would have no problem playing a Gloom Stalker ranger even as a variant human, because I could live with just two levels of no Darkvision!! Also, did you do a video about the new optional ranger features in Tasha's Cauldron Of Everything yet? There are also new Beastmaster companion options there too!!

Im playing a half orc lore bard. With her race she gets intimation As a proficiency Just for being a half ork. I gave her the Is entertainer background. Because she was raised in a circus. But it also gives her a proficiency in performance and acrobatics. Then I choose three proficiencies. I gave her a persuasion, Deception, and stealth. I allocated most of my points to charisma and dex. And let the racial stats bolster my strength and constitution. I put expertise into performance and persuasion At third level. Chose college of lore at fourth level. Got to choose another three skills to be proficient in. Which for that I chose slide of hand survival in perception. With this build. I'm proficient in half of the skills on the character sheet. All the charima skills all the dexterity skills and a few i thought to be useful at level 3. And I get the flavor of being a half ork bard. It feels busted but my dm allowed it.

I'm a Twilight Domain Cleric in one compaign and I was chosen to be the Cleric in a new campaign and was interested in what other domains to choose from. I read all of them and liked Life, Grave, Arcana, and Peace. I was leaning more towards Arcana for the extra cantrips, but maybe Grave is the way to go? I don't know!

Idea - use two-weapon fighting. With the lower attack chance because you can't use Reckless Attack, having an additional attack increases your accuracy and the number of creatures you can hit. Ancestral Protectors applies to every enemy you hit in a round, so it increases damage at the same time as damage mitigation. Combo that with the Mark optional rule and the Sentinel feat, and you can shut off up to 3 creatures every round

More rules equals slower and slower game, period. More rules equals people get tired waiting for their turn while some other 6th level player takes 20 minutes for his turn. The problem with 5e isn't too little rules, it is too many. 3000 pages of core rules and expansion rules. End of story.

It's neither necessary nor useless. It can be useful, but it's not required for play. Alignment is both flexible and capable of nuance. But neither does it completely define the character. Using alignment proper can help enhance your character should you so desire it. But it is not needed for good roleplay.

in a friends campeign i geve the class a try..i was a warforged artificer (battle smith) . my steel defender took the form of a clockwork beast big enough for me to ride. my only real issue with the class is it limits the amount of magic items you can have in existence...because my goal was to be a taveling merchant and sell these magic items and supply my party with gold...as well as establish trade connections as a means of relaying information and gaining status.

It's a bit of a bigger leap but here's my suggestion: use alternate rest rules. If people aren't getting 100% HP and all abilities/spell reset every single day, then everything starts to matter more. Losing a minor amount of HP to a skirmish with some pathetic Goblins actually MATTERS if you can't recover that HP easily.

Sticky fingers - I'd always assumed that certain types of items in fantasy worlds would be being made only on commission, and thus would not usually available to be stolen from shops. Eg, for high-quality armor, the armorer would be working to someone's specific measurements and getting it delivered to its buyer when it's done, and I'd assumed it would much the same deal for items like magic armors or clothing, magic weapons, or basically anything that would 1) be tailored to a specific person's body or magic or 2) be rare enough that only a few potential buyers even exist. More common/less tailored items like some extra rope or possibly even some low-level potions might be available for characters that are dead-set on stealing though. Naturally, the more money a shop brings in with its merchandise, the better security it tends to have.

TRUE STRIKE + SNEAK ATTACK = ROGUE SNIPER 🥷🏹💥 True Strike is actually a really good cantrip to have on any Rogue character, It automatically allows Sneak Attack damage because it grants Advantage on the next attack. Let's say you have a Rogue with a Short Bow (1d6 Piercing) DEX modifier +2 and the True Strike from either a level in Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizards or the Magic Initiate Feat. A level 1-2 Rogue wont have a huge difference against an opponent with moderate to low AC since 2 regular attacks over 2 rounds would have a slightly better damage output of 1d6+2/1d6+2 (6-16 over 2 rounds) compared to a True Strike + Sneak Attack combo over the same 2 rounds that would have a damage output of 0/2d6+2 (4-14 over 2 rounds), but if the opponent has a high AC the True Strike + Sneak attack combo is a better deal to hit with 4-14 damage every other round than to miss every round or every other round only doing 1d6+2 damage with a single hit over 2 rounds. Once the character has 3+ levels in Rogue They are doing 4d6+2 (6-26 damage) every other turn with a higher chance of landing a successful hit using True Strike the round before they make their ranged attack. WITCH BOLT⚡⚡ The only way to make this spell useful and worthwhile without unbalancing things would be to increase the range to 150 feet. Give it the same range as a fireball and allow the subsequent rounds to just require the target to be within line of sight and within 150 feet to auto-zap them. FIND TRAPS🔍 With a 120 foot range, any traps a DM placed as a challenge within a dungeon would be completely pointless and easily by passed if all traps in a hall of chamber were just instantly revealed. Drop the range to 30 feet and make the duration Concentration up to 1 minute. While the spell is in effect the location of any trigger to mechanical traps within 30 feet of your line of vision is revealed. FIND THE PATH🧭 There's nothing wrong with this spell. It's purpose is to get you to the specified location as quickly as possible to minimize travel time. The longer you travel the higher the chance of getting lost or going through another random encounter fight. Supplies of food and water might may be low, getting to a known settlement before food and water run out would be a good thing. Some important event is coming up, an eclipse over an ancient temple will release a zombie horde if the party doesn't get to the town square with the magic ruby that need to be placed in the left eye of the founder's statue. There are plenty of reasons for a party to want to minimize travel time as much as possible. MORDENKAINEN'S SWORD Yeah... this one is tough to defend. 🤔I got nothing.

I think this assessment has a few flaws, assumption being among them. The biggest of them is that the average dps of the paladin is based on the ability to burn 2 lvl 3 slots per turn and even though the avreage of all 18 spell slots spent smiting is about 8d8 per turn in combat it only lasts for 7 turns, after which the paladin is losing 40 ADPT from smite. At ghe same time you only alot for the ranger to use hunters mark but nothing else for damage, and im pretty sure zephyr strike would add more to ADPT. Rangers Fighters and Paladins also get access to fighing styles and either land more hits on average or do more damage. The dueling style for example pushes the paladin and the fighter dps up while wielding a longsword, so fighter dpt i creases by 8 and paladin by 4.

Considering the fact that DND is a game based on the struggle between Good and Evil, you need a mechanic in game to tell what is Good and what is Evil.
