Glad to learn of the master class. In all my years of membership in the Church scripture study has been emphasized but very little has been said about how to do it effectively.
Thanks for you insight. I had a thought for Alma 42:29 having 2 types of trouble of the mind. The first trouble would be a trouble that leads to justification or in other words a desire to justify our sins which does not bring us into harmony with God's will. The second trouble is a trouble that leads to repentance with causes us to change and bring our lives into harmony with God's will.
I cannot adequately express the depth and breadth of my gratitude or the love and Spirit I feel listening and learning, stretching and expanding while participating with these instructional videos!!! I cannot express the smallest psrt that I feel. I'm overwhelmed with joy, peace, repentance. So grateful to know that God really does live and that He is my Heavenly Father and I am His daughter. I create a momentum by listening/stydying Scripture Cental and Unshaken lessons, I make notes (promptings of the Spirit) And when I read them on paper the momentum is there. They are my pearls, I collect them, so that nothing is lost.
I watched all the scripture study videos already, took notes, and loved it. For anyone who wants to learn, it's great! Also, I love it when you use poetry, and when you quote song lyrics. To recognize how grateful I am for your lessons, I'll say, I know that I've been changed for the better, and that I've been changed for good.

I find it interesting that Alma shared his own waywardness with Helaman and Shiblon, but not with Corianton. For Corianton who was trying to perhaps "satisfy an emptiness in a wrong way" it would seem loving to create an atmosphere of understanding by Alma sharing his own humanity. When as a parent I have left my parenting stewardship for my own selfish needs and then correct my children for having abandoned their responsibilities towards God, I have been a hypocrite. I hope Alma put his arms around Corianton, fully embracing his son and his son's actions, demonstrating the love of God that Alma has been a recipient of, and perhaps through an act of love, a more convincing "discussion" than words.

"Now this is what I have against thee; thou didst go on unto boasting in thy strength and thy wisdom." It's amazing how often pride is connected with sexual immorality in the scriptures. The Lord has warned us in a most obvious way to beware of the pride movement.
I think one reason why Faith is more powerful than Perfect Knowledge is that it really tests and stretches us in ways that Perfect Knowledge cannot. If we have to have Faith in something, it means that we really WANT to believe that thing. It requires a choice on our part. It also requires us to "work" or struggle.
Two things Come to my mind with “cross yourself”. Number one cross yourself, represents the Savior, applying the savior and relying on him. When you deny yourself of all ungodliness you are therefore relying on godliness. The second thought is in regards to the vertical versus the horizontal. Vertical means we are relying on God and the savior. Horizontal is that we are relying on each other to avoid temptation.
Come on, we all know the book of Mormon is fiction.
If they truly repent in spirit prison and accept Christ as their Savior and have paid the price of not accepting Christ in their mortal life, can they move to paradise or do they become missionaries to teach others there or does it take the whole time to fully repent?
I had the chance to listen to Bro Halverson in a breakout session at a YSA conference this last weekend. He is so fun to listen to in-person and is such a fantastic teacher! (I'm a little jealous of the BYU students that get to take a class from him, haha). I'm trying to be more committed to consistent daily scripture study (and have really appreciated these videos in my study). Also, that free masterclass sounds wonderful and I'm excited to work my way through it :)
We started “the talk” when our kid was in 6th grade, as soon as she had questions. We tried to normalize her coming to us with those questions. Life has plenty of other difficult conversations without adding awkwardness to something we all experience at some point.

On the surface the parable of the prodigal son is problematic. It seems to say, the atonement kind of works, we get a “fatted calf”, etc. but sorry we don’t get totally forgiven, we don’t get all the Father has. In reality there is no Son who remains with the Father. All of our Father’s children, including the Savior leave the Father. The uncharitable Son who “remains” with the Father is us if we did not come to earth. Our earthly probation is what helps us to develop charity. My opinion anyway.
That person who asked about temple/chastity and if it's that important. Since the ways of the world / inds think it's a normal part of relationships if one is not married legally and lawfully according to thr Gods above laws. The Father told his Son to call Adam and Eve and all their posterity and teach them concerning everything about the Kingdom of light and the worlds of light. Messengers sent as well to proclaim and warn them against Satan. Specifically to teach them chastity. Ref book- temple and cosmos, Hugh Nibley. For women- this activity is way more risky than a man. More people need to stand up boldly and share how special and sacred this is. We are becoming a God & Godedess in the image and acts of procreation and creating. Anything that is formed, brought forth and true by THEM above- Satan will always twist and change things and present them as pleasure and all in good fun. Why does it mention in scriptures that a plague was sent / a form of STD we now know today? When people literally " screw" around with this stuff in a true ungodly manner- like pink says it best. Where there is a flame someone is bound to get burn. In a heart, emotionally, spiritually, mind, soul, conscience, covenants shred apart, taking off the name of Christ, etc. Wake up people and understand that if our generation can't seem to figure this out. How will we as a society receive further light and knowledge? The Gods and Goddesses above will refrain for a bit more beautiful secrets to come. Nations will be brought to it's knees of immortality. So glad one can receive personal revelation and worship the true and living ones above. Others will choose a lesser intelligent path and not seek wisdom. Sad and sick to see, hear and witness our Bros and sis want this lifestyle all over the world. We all could remember we were taught and gathered by loving parents above. We could pattern our lives after this teaching. Not in Satanic, lustful desires. Our focus and lust could be towards Christ regardless of marital status or whatever challenges situations one finds themselves. ❤ God is good and we know him not. There are things yet to find out about the Heavens and other Worlds. Let a mind and heart wonder towards more knowledge we have to learn about THEM! 😇

LDS PLEASE DON'T REJECT GOD OF BIBLE & FOLLOW THE FALSE GODS of Joseph Smith? ISN'T YOUR ETERNITY WORTH EXAMINING THE TRUTH? This father was the same Alma the younger, who in his youth, went about trying to destroy he church. He was struck and then taught by an angel. Could these teachings be the same teachings that were taught to him by the Angel?

If a Pharisee were to read Alma 37:5 he would daily take the plates down from the shelf and rub and polish each leaf to maintain the shine of reflected light. Over the years the rubbing and polishing would continue until the characters were worn completely away. No matter, they are shiny and bright in the sun. Eventually each plate would become so thin that the plates would crumble away. Oh well we didn't understand them anyway! Now think of a brand new quadruple combination fresh out of the box. Pristine cover. Crisp clean pages. Fast forward a lifetime and this book now has a worn cover with the gold embossing all but gone. On every now discolored page are under linings, notes in the margins, tear stains on many pages. The brightness that the plates retain is from that light that they shower forth upon those who study and teach from them. This is not a reflected light from the sun, but rather an eternal light from the Son. (Another perspective)
This is such a rich and deep exploration and explanation of the justice of resurrection and our responsibility in the process. I've been studying all my life and learning salvation takes repeated doses to bring all the pieces of insight and knowledge together. The restoration of that knowledge that we must've had in the preexistence comes as fast as were able to receive it.. This still is a firehose/flood of light, and I can't absorb it all yet. But this dose sinks it deeper into my understanding , and I see why it takes a lifetime of learning. I will study with you and the Holy Ghost again this lesson. Smith's Jesus is no longer God in the flesh but the biblical Jesus is: "God was manifest in the flesh" 1Tim. 3:16 KJV. In order to try to make things work for LDS, J.S. added extra verses and verbiage into John 1 that were never there in any ancient texts to try to separate the idea of a trinity into 3 Gods. There are 4,000 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament. Some go back to 350 AD and NONE support Joseph Smith's claims that the bible of today has been corrupted. Papyrus fragments exist of the New Testament dated to 175 AD and show that the new testament has NOT been "corrupted". (New Testament Docs: Are They Reliable? Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1967 pp. 15-17) The manuscript and archeological evidence for the BIBLE is the GREATEST in antiquity. I pray you know the true Jesus and not Joseph Smith's exalted man from another planet who is not eternal, not all powerful, not perfect but evolving, and was polygamous. God is much greater than the humanoid of Mormonism and NOT just ONE OF AN ENDLESS NUMBER OF EVOLVING GODS. Jesus said ALL scripture will NOT fade away but "many wolves in sheep's clothing" will come trying to add to the word. Mathew 7:15 Joseph Smith changed Jesus, the Father and taught you can become a GOD. It hurts my heart to see Mormons fall for the lie that we can become God when there is only one eternal God found in the bible. God gave us critical thinking & logical reasoning for a reason, he tells us to EXAMINE and TEST what we are being taught for TRUTH. The bible withstands the truth test. 1:11:46 That is beautiful. I also think of it in my situation - the man I love has been struggling and healing from previous toxic and harmful relationships the entire time I’ve known him. He is mostly healed, yet still holds back. The Spirit has confirmed to me multiple times that I am for him and he is for me and that he will use his agency to choose me and follow His plan (which gives me hope and promises from Him to cling to). I wanted to marry him 11 years ago when we were six months into our relationship and have had to learn extreme patience in those years (because I still want to marry him). I have cried to the Lord SO many times that my efforts to love him and be a strength to him aren’t working and doubt creeps up that he’s used his agency to not choose me and/or I’m not enough - which is a whole set of other issues I’ve had to work through with the Lord because his brokenness has exasperated my childhood brokenness, so we BOTH have ended up healing - and each time, He reminds me to be not weary in well-doing because it will be on His time. Sometimes, I feel like the Lord of the vineyard from Jacob 5 - despairing, “What more could I have done? I have nurtured this (tree) this long time.” And it always comes back to “be not weary of well-doing”. Thank goodness for the Lord and His infinite healing Atonement…not only for sin, but also for heartache and emotional suffering. ❤️

I just want to say that when someone witnesses in testimony meeting they know Jesus is the Christ the Spirit testifies to my soul it is true. Testimony can be powerful. Testimony can help other people’s testimony grow. I think faith is very important. Once the Spirit has witnessed to my soul something is true, I still need to exercise my faith in so many ways. It takes faith to trudge on in this crazy world. It takes faith to continue reading my scriptures each day, to pray each day, go to church each week. As I exercise my faith my testimony grows stronger and stronger. The Lord loves effort and as we put forth that effort and humble ourselves before God he wants to witness to us the truths of the gospel and he will! It is beautiful! I feel sad if people may feel ashamed of saying “I know Jesus is the Christ” when the Spirit was made something known to them. I want people to say “ I know Jesus is the Christ “ when they have a testimony they received from the Holy Spirit. This strengthens my testimony! This helps me in my life. I think faith and knowledge go hand in hand.
Thank you for seeing the parallels between the BOM and AA’s 12 steps. I agree with much of what you said except one thing. I think the first step of AA’s 12 step is about humility, and this aligns with gospel principles in the scriptures. We have to be humble in order to look at ourselves objectively to examine ourselves and our behavior truthfully. That examination takes place in the 4th step, and it can only be rigorous if one is humble. I just celebrated my 25th year of being clean and sober, so I have had much experience working these steps. I didn’t go through the Church’s addiction recovery program, so I don’t know how it compares.

The reason why the covenants we make in the Temple specifically include the Law of Chastity is because the Ordinances that those covenants are associated with are enabled through Priesthood power and Priesthood Power is the power of creation and the purpose of everything that is done in the Temple has to do with creation...from the Creation Story "In the beginning" to the Adam and Eve narrative, to the creation of Exalted beings, to the creation of Eternal Families. It's all about 'Creation'. And what is the Law of Chastity about? Keeping our Powers of Pro-Creation sacred.
