    i have a question if 2 busboys are working togther but one of them gets sent home becuse its slow if they only work a half shift while the other stays for all of it does he get 75 percent tips while the one that left early gets 25 percent tips or do they still split it in half

    At the restaurant that i work at, the buser doesn't clean the doors, the hostess is the one that does that, also when bussing we don't use trays we carry everything to rush by have, we do have bus tubs, but those are mainly for the kitchen too use, but in the post they have let me use there bus tubs when bussing.

    Tbh I’ve been a busser for 8 months and every restaurant is different I work at a beach bar and grill so everything is different but this is likely for Fancy Restaurants

  • @willf.85

    8 months? HAA I've been a busser a red robin restaurant here in Connecticut for over 181/2 years. No I don't love what I do necessarily, it's just the money that's decent that's all. But bussing is very hard and not everyone is built for it. It takes a special person to handle bussing and keep up with the volume of people. Also I buss tables on a Friday and sat night and Im by myself. But I always get it done. But good for you for making a difference. People will prob look down on you for bussing but those people don't realize there's a lot more to bussing than just cleaning off a table. Keep that in mind.

    Don't go by what the video is having you do. Every restaurant is different. Fancy restaurants have very different bussing techniques than say a burger joint like Red Robin where I currently work as a busser. I don't use trays I use a bus tub. Much easier and it builds up muscles and hand grip strength.

    I would advise anyone reading this to hold that tray with two hands I would also advise them to use a plastic tub or some cart to retrieve the dishes until you get really good practice balancing those trays and taking multiple plates in orders at a time

  • @arcatacompany
    @arcatacompany Жыл бұрын

    That's so interesting to hold the tray with three or with your fingertips instead of the flat hand you say it will slide off I would have never known that, I can just imagine how heavy those trays are with more than two dishes and a cup

    At Applebee’s an expo is usually a manager (least post covid due to short staffing). It’s a chain dine in restaurant so it’s a little different than the restaurant in this video but our servers are the ones that cut celery, cilantro, parsley, strawberries, etc which we have on our expo line. But it depends on the store bc some other Applebee’s leave those to the kitchen staff to do

    1. Put a wet towel under your cutting board before you hurt yourself. 2. Who taught you to flip the cutting board? That is, hands down, the laziest, most unsanitary shortcut I've ever seen. 3. Use a proper tool to remove the pits from olives. 4. While handling the olives, why would you use gloves for the entire process, then remove them before the very last step? 5. Stop flipping the cutting board. 6. Why do you need a training video for an expo position?
