    I just started to use scraps in a dam mold. I love both projects you made with the orange and white glass and the red iridescent glass. BEAUTIFUL! Do you always use Bullseye 90 COE or can 96 COE be used?

  • @JamaisonSchuler
    @JamaisonSchuler14 сағат бұрын

    96 glass could certainly be used, but if I’m not mistaken, I think the target anneal hold temperature is different so you might need to adjust your schedules accordingly.

    An odd question but how did you practice this. I would want to offer this but don’t want to mess up with anyone’s special ashes if that makes sense.

    Buy bone meal in the garden section. Or just try some soil! Fusing soil into glass (same process as cremains or ashes) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZ2Zw5qThdu6qbA.html

    This detail is in the video notes on KZread. If you are watching in the app on your phone, you probably just click the headline under the video. If on your computer, I think it’s usually in a gray box with “show more” under the video headline or try to click the headline itself. Thanks!!!

    I like the addition of the small frit balls. I have made some with luminescent in a single layer and had problems with the edges keeping together.

    Opaline is my favorite glass by far. The second glass I taught I had to ‘fix’ three of these that the previous instructor never finished. Then I spent a month making balls to make on for myself. I did one in clear and one in opaline and a couple of small ones with a mixture of both, my boss sold them all when she emptied the kiln. Not what I wanted. But now I want to make another

    I tried this yesterday and I ended up with a bunch of bubbles both around the rim and in the interior of the glass. After looking at the tutorial again, the only thing I did different was I forgot to put clear frit in the cracks of the top piece. GGGGGRRRRRR!!!!!! Going to buy more glass and try it again.

  • @JamaisonSchuler
    @JamaisonSchuler8 күн бұрын

    Good luck! Everything I understand about this and those bubbles is about having enough volume of glass. But these Patty Gray molds can be tricky!

    Why didn’t you start with a clear base?

  • @JamaisonSchuler
    @JamaisonSchuler8 күн бұрын

    Because I did not want the clear to interrupt the lacy pattern. It’s more of an art piece than functional. Clear glass would still pick up texture and I didn’t want that seen in the gaps

  • @robertcoyle1532
    @robertcoyle15328 күн бұрын

    Why didn't you use clear glass under the beads to make the dish more sturdy? If you cut the bottom circle an slightly smaller, it wouldn't show at the edges and still give support. The piece was beautiful but some of those small edge beads made me nervous.

  • @JamaisonSchuler
    @JamaisonSchuler8 күн бұрын

    Artist choice. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I considered it, but I did not want clear glass (which would pick up kiln shelf or paper texture) to distract from the lacy appearance of the piece.
