I think E6000 has changed. I used it for my bails on glass with texture and let it cure 24 hours they all snap right off with minimal force. I guess I’ll try that gorilla glue because oily super glue did even worse! I’ve never heard of glass bails, that’s fantastic no matching problems with metal findings !

And the glass bail allows for you to use transparent glass for pendants and not see that ugly metal bail. 😉

Jamaison, who, but you would think of such a test? and it was brilliant! I too used to be a devotee for nearly a decade of E6000 but I started finding some of my earrings falling apart after several years. I started using Tabitha's Araldite 2 part epoxy and it works great, but for quicker and easier application I use your recommended Gorilla Glue and it is awesome! I have had NO failures. I even tested it on the handle of a pie cutter. The plastic handle slid onto the metal "stake" of the cutter and let me tell you, that thing is never going to budge, lol! Thank you so much for being so curious and entertaining. Seriously, I had faith in the Gorilla from the start, lol! 🦍😅

I have used the Gorilla Glue (based on your recommendation) on some things but have been afraid to try it on some of the things I usually use two-part epoxy on. This has convinced me to use the Gorilla Glue on everything! Thank you so much for sharing!

I had been using E6000 for years. I started having failures about 2 yrs ago so I switched to drilling but that process is time consuming, pinch bails can be difficult to find and costly if you want them to last and not tarnish. I ve been using Gorilla Glue for my garden stakes but not my pendants, so I guess maybe it’s time to use it for everything. I’m also going to buy some of your bails and try using them. Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of information. They are fun to watch and so informative.

I use the E6000 but after letting it dry 24hrs... I then put in the oven at 275 degrees for 30 minutes then shut off the oven to let it cool down. I have not had a problem with bails coming off. I like the Gorilla glue because I can eliminate the oven part. Thanks Jamaison! Your awesome! :-)

I am now motivated to replicate this test in a way that would make my fellow engineers proud! Fixture mounted, no hand holding of the UUT or data collection device! In my way to buy some Gorilla glue and probably throw away what little E6000 I have left. How old was that tube of Gorilla Glue you used …. Looks like it’s been in use for a while?

Great test but I was so worried you were going to end up with that black glass breaking, and slicing your hand! Maybe wrap it in foam and place in a vice? Although it might be hard to put enough pressure on and not break the glass. Very cool experiment though!

YES! Please test two part epoxy that needs to be cured and sit for I think 24 hours. I apply it after roughing both the acrylic tubing and my glass then clamp to both when I hang very large pieces (2+layers) on the wall and have never had a failure.

No more E6000; I switched to Gorilla glue when you mentioned it in another video. Do you know if it holds up outdoors for things like garden stakes? His Glassworks said not to use Hxtal outdoors (due to expansion/contraction) so I've been using silicone glue but am now wondering about the Gorilla glue

  • @JamaisonSchuler

This gorilla glue is essentially silicone? I’ve had an art panel I glued to a metal frame hanging on our Texas fence (in the full sun and harsh freezes) for two years now and it seems fine!
