    😂🤣 I absolutely love these videos, so much fun, oor wee Monkey will be starring on my channel more often now, running two channels is a pain in the baws 🤭, Nikki knows absolutely nothing about editing videos, and when she's out on the bike it's with me so might as well feature her, she will be keeping her channel name tho. I'm off to the Lightweight Adventure festival a week on Friday with the CRF, needing a proper weekend away. hopefully have a meet up at some point, take care you mad pair of nutters 👍

    If you're using it for fun and the weekends, I'd go for the Monkey. If you want something a bit more serious, but much more of a complete bike, go for the Triumph. I’ve owned a 1290SA since 2019 and still enjoy riding it however I’ve just added a 2024 900 Rally Pro to my garage. Now I’m busy cutting weight from the KTM since the Triumph has made me conscious of how bloated I allowed the 1290 to become. Gone is the steel bash plate, the top box, the unused pillion pegs and pannier mountings, the comprehensive toolkit and cleaning materials and I’m on a diet too. The Triumph is lovely but there is nothing quite like that KTM engine.

  • @SamVBikes
    @SamVBikes7 күн бұрын

    Haha! Yeah I know the feeling! Ended up doing the same with my 1290. Although I've added weight in other areas like crash bars! That's quite a garage you have there!

    @@SamVBikes There is the electric pushbike too. I built that during Covid and it’s a hoot although not exactly compliant with His Majesties’ specifications. I’ve shed about 12Kg from the KTM just by removing stuff that I thought was cool but served no purpose.

  • @SamVBikes
    @SamVBikes7 күн бұрын

    @chrisbeale9022 haha! See many of those in London going faster than 90% of the traffic 😂. 12kg is a very decent lump to knock off. It's such a satisfying feeling isn't it

  • @chrisbeale9022
    @chrisbeale90227 күн бұрын

    @@SamVBikes It is. I wonder how many other riders are bolting stuff from the accessory brochures and KZread influencers onto their bikes without considering the impact on handling. I rather stupidly carried a 4Kg piece of electronics up to Oulton Park in my top box along with a tank bag with tools (I'm the chap responsible for those pesky drive-by noise meters). The KTM handled like a pig and I ended up having to fuel to half a tank to make it reasonably safe.

  • @SamVBikes
    @SamVBikes7 күн бұрын

    @chrisbeale9022 corr I bet that wasn't fun being so high up on the bike!! I try to replace like for like at very least. If I add something, find something of similar weight to take off. Add crash bars, take off pillion pegs etc

    Couldn’t agree more about the tech pack demo bitching. If I’d had the chance to test the quick shifter when I bought my 890 I never would have paid for it. Just don’t like quick shifting. Plus, every brand is charging extra for all these option. At least ktm lets new owners for free to see if they like it first

  • @SamVBikes
    @SamVBikes8 күн бұрын

    Loved the PanAm but I'd still pick my KTM keys at the end of the day. Loads of very good tech and ideas! Obviously HDs first current style adventure bike, it was riddled with problems originally which is why you don't see them over here that much. The KTMs engine definitely has more 'punch' to it. Not necessarily power but the way the power kicks in. You can tell the years of development too. Just the little tweaks which make the bike better overall. For HDs first up to date adventure bike, bloody good effort!

I'm very attached to my classics but the R3 is in such a stark contrast and is honestly the only modern bike I would own as I find pretty much every other modern bike inherently boring. It's an extreme and ridiculous bike the R3 and insanely powerful and right there is exactly the reason you'd want one and I love it.
