Got one to recommend, but it's Average Food (at best), Bad Service. Cheng Ji Chao Xia Mian Hao Jian at Seah Imm. Try asking for 1. exta chopsticks OR 2. Extra lime OR 3. Extra chilli. Good luck :)

Nice guy, but ridiculous to import all the fish by plane from the other side of the world. And importing Japanese water to cook rice. is beyond ridiculous and pretentious. It is time for some sanity in the michelin scence.

Mutual respect is also very important. If you are rude to the stall owners or cause inconvenience to them, I'm not surprised if they responded in a "no so nice" way. Be nice and hopeful they will be nice to you too! (or at least they will not show youtheir bad attitude lol😅😆)

When all things considered. It is just a social economics to this. Adding in SG's dynamics of culture of " this " and expectations. Its just another social norms of what makes SG , SG ? if you think u better u try be a hawker then we see how you can smile all day from 4 am till 11 pm. In b4 those comments come in. Cutlery and utensils are a resource that are finite for a hawker. Bring own chopsticks holder if there is a tendency to drop them. once they run out they gotta start washing the entire tub. then its soapy hands then they have to sanitize. before taking up the ladle to stir that cauldron of soup. All this while you watch a rhythm of service being disrupted? and then you just stand there look ? Do any one know how that feels like? maybe only FnB people. sometimes ... just chill when you feel so pek chek even if the food is cooked by the big G man himself won't help.

What Gary has experienced is what i call the ugly singaporeanism. The stresses in the city of money constantly no enough has possibly "nurtured" several types of Ugly singaporeanism. Unhappy people have their unhappiness manifested in their behavior. Some causes of unhappiness : 1. OVERPRICED housing : they can only swallow it with huge difficulty by saying "Boh Bian😢". 2. COE : "Bo Bian😢" 3. And when they try to show their disapproval of policies, they are told by some to Leave SG! So, they everything say bo bian lor, lan lan lor. This pent up frustrations manifested in ugly behaviors

I think some people go to a hawker stall and think that they're in a restaurant. Restaurants are about hospitality - they have waiting staff, a nice environment and are there not only to provide good meals, but also a comfortable atmosphere. Hawker stalls are all about craftsmanship. Most specialize in dishes, pump high volumes in high quality for a good price, as stated here. There's no time, money or energy left to cater to individual wishes. And that's not why you go to a hawker stall either. It's not disrespectful in this case if the staff is brief and professional - but it is a tad rude if you take up too much time and dip into their already small profits by asking for extras. At least I imagine that to be the mentality behind this. I love hawker stalls so much.
