    Can we ask an NGO where we have provided volunteer services to be our recommender? Or Is it necessary to ask for a recommendation from our professional workplace?

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission4 күн бұрын

    Your primary recommender should ideally be your current professional supervisor. Alternatively, your recommender can be a previous supervisor from your current or past workplace if, for example, you have not been working very long with your current supervisor. If the MBA program asks for two recommenders though, then you could ask your supervisor from your volunteer work to write a recommendation, especially if this is an activity where you have invested significant time and made an impact.

    Very true. Tuck has a unique, close-knit community that fosters collaboration. If you study at Tuck, you will probably spend lots of time with classmates...because you're in the woods and there is not much nearby :) Interacting with classmates and getting to know people from diverse backgrounds was part of the overall MBA experience at Tuck. I was fortunate to have met some truly wonderful people at Tuck and through the school's network of alumni.

    Nice content. Is the applicant responsible if the recommender had grammatical errors and poor wording? And does promotions matter if youre doing a career change?

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission16 күн бұрын

    The applicant will definitely not be penalized if his or her recommender does not write well. For example, many recommenders are not native English speakers. The content in a recommendation letter is what is important. Your recommender must convey that you stand out among your peers, and illustrate that you possess the qualities that each MBA program looks for. Grammatical errors and poor word choice will not distract from that content.

    What is considered a low GRE quant score? Would one point below a school's average a problem? Also, is there a place where we can see a list of enrollment deposits for each school?

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission26 күн бұрын

    Generally speaking, under a 160V/160Q on the GRE is considered "low." We don't currently have a listing of enrollment deposits for each school but can add it to our list to create that kind of resource!

    Having graduated from Tuck back in the First Ice Age…. I can honestly say the speaker in this video absolutely, positively, nails it. The school is wonderful in many ways - academic resources, faculty, location, etc - but your Tuck classmates are equally amazing - thoughtful, diverse experiences which they bring, encouraging and supportive. Fifty years later, some of my best friends and closest colleagues were Tuck classmates. Good luck with your admission. If the person he describes in this video resonates with you, applying there is the RIGHT decision.

  • @mbaMission

    You will simply have to submit proof of your English proficiency in order to apply. Keep in mind though, that you will still need to demonstrate at least a basic knowledge of a third language to graduate. I suggest reviewing the INSEAD website's "Language Requirements" under its "Admission Policies" if you would like more detail.

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMissionАй бұрын

    This seems like a good opportunity, so it is certainly worth considering. However, keep in mind that many employers who hire MBAs are also interested in their transferable skills from their work experience prior to their MBA. Employers may also prefer applicants from top MBA programs, so if this program happens to be less prestigious, it may be worth working for a few years and then applying to an MBA program that is a better fit for you, in terms of helping you achieve your career goals. Additionally, keep in mind that it is very difficult to be admitted into an MBA program down the road, if you already have completed a prior MBA.

  • @mbaMission

    All three campuses within the INSEAD Global EMBA will add great value to your career and provide you with a lifelong network. Keep in mind the slight logistical differences across these three, such as start date and length of program. However, all things equal, if your goal is to focus on the pharma Asian market, then we suggest the Singapore campus because of its greater ties within Asia with regard to recruiting opportunities and network.

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission2 ай бұрын

    Business school is a long way off, but it is impressive that you are already thinking about ways to boost your profile when it is time to apply. Your grades in university are very important to MBA admissions committees, so during your upcoming time in college, focus on earning high grades from the very beginning. MBA programs also want to see applicants who have engaged in extracurriculars during college. I suggest joining clubs and becoming a leader in a few of them, in order to show that you have made an impact. And after college, continue to participate in extracurricular activities, perhaps ones related to what you did during college. Upon college graduation, MBA programs like to see 4-5 years of full-time work experience before an applicant applies. Therefore, while you will not be applying to business school for a while, performing well in and outside the classroom during university will go a long way in boosting your chances of MBA admission.

    What if I have a 4.0 GPA in chemical engineering (quant heavy undergrad), but a relatively low GMAT of 670?

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission2 ай бұрын

    The MBA application is truly holistic, and these programs want to make sure students have the academic ability to succeed in a rigorous classroom setting. A 4.0 GPA in a quantitative field is impressive and will help your application; it will also help to compensate for a lower than average GMAT score of 670. However, to compete against applicants of top schools, I suggest retaking the GMAT to try to improve your score; you have nothing to lose. You could also consider switching to another exam, such as the GRE. If not, you can still showcase your quantitative abilities in other ways, such as demonstrating them through your professional roles, or even taking a supplemental course in a quantitative field. Keep in mind that demonstrating your quant ability is still only one component of your application. Especially if you have a below average GMAT score, you must show excellence in other aspects of your application, including your essays, resume, and recommendation letters.

    do you think MBA is worth it if you already have a CPA?

  • @mbaMission
    @mbaMission3 ай бұрын

    A CPA is a position, which is basically a specific type of accountant who has taken the CPA exam and has met other requirements. If your goal is to solely focus on an accounting career then a CPA designation is sufficient, and an MBA is not necessary. However, if your goals differ than pure accounting, then an MBA will open up many more types of opportunities and will provide you with a more general management background that will enable you to target other careers. The MBA will also give you the leadership capabilities to manage and lead others, regardless of your industry.
