In 1948 I was born and brought up there until 18 then joined the army. Haven't been back there much and not in the last 21 years. Hard to believe just how much it has changed and modernised. Love it. Was a great place for kids with all the open spaces.

0:24 The ancient Romans knew the Danube River, which largely formed the northern border of their empire, under the Latin name Danubius. According to legend, a Roman duke sent his soldiers to search for the source of the river. Those at the foot of the Black Forest came across a strong mineral spring (in the places where the city of Donaueschingen is located today), which, although it flows into the river here, is not its source. According to the legend, the soldiers did not want to make their way through the black forests to the real source and designated this place as the source of the Danube. This concept was adopted and the river still carries its name from the city of Donaueschingen, where the spring is built as its symbolic source. In fact, the Danube is formed by the confluence of the Breg and Brigach streams, which also meet near this German city.

Ha Ha Ha, You've opened a real can or worms here...I've lived in Brisbane 3 time over the years and I can definitely say that Brisbane is not the best city. My reasons are numerous, too numerous to pen here. All cities have their down sides, including the one where I live. Even the 'most' liveable city in Australia, Melb., has its down sides!!! Let me stress, the issues with Brisbane are not necessarily to do with the people but the geography, town planning and execution of planning and logistics throughout the city, although some people in various corporate roles should be held accountable for some of the cities problems. Just saying... I would suggest you do NOT buy property in Brisbane immediately, but wait 6-12 months as you may wish to re-settle elsewhere once you have lived in Brisbane for some time. Once you do you will find out the many, many problems with living there.
