people go to this show and basically demand the film live on stage...as good and perfect and flawless as they remember it....yet there you are..no edits..no cuts..8 times a week..twice on matinee days...month after month...that must have been totally draining....respect!

That was fucking flawless... holy hell these guys are spectacular! Never thought I would see dancers match the film version of this, and in my opinion, the music in this version blows the films score out of the water. The saxes kicking in at 3:26 and the strings at 3:48 gave me chills it sounded so good!
@marxps4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Don't forget, the film version was made up of several edits, so they never had to do it all the way through. Plus they dubbed the taps and singing and didn't have to worry about that either...it took many days sometimes more to shoot each number. We did each number straight thru without cuts, had to actually execute all the taps and singing (when out of breath), and did ALL the numbers for every show. 8 times a week...twice a day on Wednesdays & Saturdays! Brutal!

@@marxps It was shot in a day and a half, not a week. Singing was pre-recorded, taps are dubbed (by the performers themselves) afterward, both for the same reason- logistics of production and sound quality. Recording live on a set for movie musicals is such a bad idea, I can't believe people bought into that gimmick after the awful Les Mis film.

Fantastic job. No way to compare it with Kelly and O'Connor as who knows how many takes they did to get the perfect one on the film and their tap work was amplified AND they weren't singing at the same time. Not that Kelly and O'Connor weren't superior performers in any case; you just can't make any comparisons by the two presentations of this number.
