On the point at 23:00 That's rather easy and its because of what Culturally is seen as important now. Like most of these wonders were build with the specific goal in mind to archive a benefit. We still do build mega structures ether to show off or to gain a benefit we just don't see them as such because they appear so natural to us. Like think about Disney World for a second. He claims, and backs it up scientifically, that the pyramids where rombs, but mostly temples that the egyptians entered daily to worship. It all makes sense than. The entrances are all obvious from the coverstones on the outside. And the Porcullusoses (big stones blocking the way) are movable in all pyramids, meaning the egyptians want to get back in.
