Hourless Life

Hourless Life

Family of 3 overlanding the world 🌎

*We've been traveling full-time (owning no home or property) since February 21, 2014.
*Our goal is to drive around the world, visiting all 6 habitable continents.
*We expect the journey to take 10-15 years.
*Our family mission statement is: Love. Explore. Study. Share. (LESS)

Our family mission is to:
* Love the people we meet all around the globe.
* Explore this vast and beautiful world we all have to share.
* Study the culture, history, and daily life of the areas we visit.
* Share what we've experienced with others.

Our hope is to inspire, empower, and encourage others with similar passions that this lifestyle is indeed possible.

Join us on our journey and get to know us. We release a new video every other Sunday (sometimes every Sunday if we get ambitious).

We've met many of you in person and hope to meet many more of you on our adventure around the world.

    Would it be insane to drive from Minnesota to Cancun in a Tesla? There are enough quality chargers that are mainly Tesla Superchargers so I believe that it's along paid (quality) roads. There are a few slow chargers that I'd have to use once I get to the Yucatán Península so that last stretch will take a couple of days. Normally I'd just sleep on a bed in the back in Camp Mode but for safety I'd likely stick to hotels in Mexico. Most people say this would be extremely dangerous but I'd really enjoy it if I could do it safely.

  • @HourlessLife
    @HourlessLife7 күн бұрын

    Honestly Joseph, I think it would be EPIC! I don't know who these "most people" are that say it is so crazy dangerous, maybe ask them for their first hand experience. There are some who have had bad actors impact them, but then there are tons of others (the vast majority) who haven't had anything negative happen. You know, kind of like the USA. Did you know that there were more car jackings in the CITY of Chicago than there were the entire STATE of Veracruz? Yep. Fact check it. Our counsel is do your due diligence, follow the "rules" that I've shared in this video, and don't listen to the fearmongers, instead ask folks who have recently been where you want to go. There is a great group on Facebook called "On the Road in Mexico" check it out and remember to only ask those who have RECENTLY been. As in not even us at this point. Things change and you want the latest info when you are heading into an area. All the best, and carpe diem. ~ Eric

    It seems that all your time with family and friends has been the best while in the US this time - and you've made the best of it since you may not be back again for awhile. All these will be moments to cherish for Caspian and he grows up. I have not camped in the Mt. Madonna redwood area - looks like a place i need to explore. The amusement park in Gilroy looked very fun also.

    Great question. Not at all. The only thing we notice is a bit of added height which in Latin America can make a difference as to where we're able to park. But no issues so far, and we hit highway speeds for most of northern Chile through the Atacama Desert. We're all the way down to Argentina now, still with no issues and the panels are kicking off serious energy. Been super happy with them. ~ Eric

    Tip #1 for driving through Mexico - don’t drive through Mexico

  • @HourlessLife
    @HourlessLifeАй бұрын

    I can't say I agree with this at all, and it is this type of discourse that attempts to dissuade people from living a life of adventure and cower in a life of fear. We've spent an EXTENSIVE time driving through Mexico, and we've had great experiences throughout the country. Sure there are true tales of bad things happening, but that happens all over the world. Did you know there are more carjackings in the city of Chicago than there are in the entire state of Veracruz Mexico? It's true. Look it up. But people go into cities like Chicago all the time without thinking twice. I think the uncertainty of another country combined with fearmongering gives Mexico a very bad reputation that is overwhelmingly undeserved. ~ Eric

I'm so glad you are having a great time while here in the US and sharing it all with us. It was nice to get a glimpse of what Overland Expo was like (wow 30,000 people). This just lets us know how many people really WANT this alternative life style. I need to visit MOAB again and try Onion Creek (as far as our RV would go). I got my Global Entry (surprised you had not done this before) and TSA back in 2012 (I believe, could have been earlier because I travel to see my brother in Hawaii a lot) for a trip to Italy. It is SO MUCH faster, especially when we return from Europe (since Covid I've only traveled to Hawaii). I'm looking forward to your family reunions. Stay safe and have great travels. Somehow, spending around $55 for a scrubba bag isn’t very cost effective. Most of us don’t get free samples from the manufacturer. My camping isn’t glamping & don’t want, nor can I afford tents & kitchen items costing $400-$800 & dry bags for over $55 each. My camp clothing is for camping & easy to wash & most dry in a few hours or overnight.

  • @HourlessLife
    @HourlessLifeАй бұрын

    Hey this is Eric, and I'd have to disagree with you, circumstances dependent. As full-timers (and for those who don't full-time but travel overland for long periods of time) investing in a Scrubba Bag is actually a great investment compared to the cost of doing a coin-op laundry over an extended period of time. We'd be easily at less than a nickel a wash with our Scrubba. Brittany tells me even less. At the end of the day it is personal preference and what works for you. We use it nearly daily on our journey and it has held up and been a great piece of kit for us. Remember, that we don't have a home to go back to with a washer. All the best. ~ Eric

  • @HourlessLife
    @HourlessLifeАй бұрын

    Being that we use it every day under the harshest conditions, I will tell you that I swear by the work Goose Gear does. It is far more than a sheet of plywood. There are exacting measurements per platform that make the most of the usable space for the particular vehicle, and their proprietary lining which isn't just standard linex. We have been really hard on our stuff living in DAUNTLESS full-time now (with a kid) all the way down in Argentina and the Goose Gear has held up like new. Having said that, it is pricey and I've seen a lot of people do a budget version of it DIY. Having said that, I'm personally glad we went with it and have zero regrets. ~ Eric

    We haven't renewed anything (registration, etc) on DAUNTLESS as those regulations only apply in the USA. Having said that, if we ever ship DAUNTLESS back to the states there will likely be a fine (which I believe has a cap of like $100 in the State of Texas) for being late in getting our registration done.
