    Thank you for sharing and dissecting your emotions. Being a Filipino it saddens me Philippines is somewhat involved. I just came back from Barcelona, Lourdes and Paris and my anxiety was to the roof, I tried traveling light with family of 3 only with 1check in and 1carry on just so we’re not handling so much in the train, etc. Robbers in EU dont even hide it anymore , they normally have no luggages or bags with them but they’re at a train station or airport. Im so sorry this happened to you. I wish you find peace ❤😢

    I'm so, so very sorry that you got robbed, however, without explaining how you got robbed so that we can protect ourselves from the same circumstance, this video is of very little help to us. Thirty-five minutes of the video was all about you and only 6 minutes was general tips that I'm sure everyone already knows. Again, I'm very sorry this happened to you but what happened? Saying whether your bags were stolen from the car, from the hotel or from your room does not compromise an investigation.

  • @JesuisLou
    @JesuisLou9 сағат бұрын

    The reason I can’t share does compromise the investigation due to the location and where the responsibility lays, if authorities tell me not to share i have to listen. At the end I disclose everything I do already and everything I would have done differently, I just don’t point out exactly which one applied to me during this robbery but it is there. But I made sure that there was nothing to miss on the advice. It is there, if someone follows the advice at the end then it will help.

    This is so sad, stealing is very wrong because while it may just be material things, it really messes w/ people’s sense of security & safety. Some things also have sentimental value and can’t be replaced 💔

    I'm sorry this happened to you but don't expect there is any investigation going. It's the same here in Spain, police is an absolute joke. They'll fine you for riding bike with headphones same moment you put them on but they will never help you find you phone stolen that you can track in "find my iPhone". You've mentioned in the video yourself that even if you have had airtag inside the bags no one would have helped you. The laws work AGAINST us. People getting stabbed in attempt robberies more and more... It gets just the same dangerous as in SA

    I am sorry it happens to you and hope you will get the bags back. Italian lady here who travels all over the world and mostly solo. Sadly designer things make you a target. The only time I almost got robbed, ironically, was in Milan after leaving Hermes with their orange shoppers. After that when I go luxury shopping I either take a cab or ask for anonymous shoppers. Pro tips for travelling anywhere: no luxury luggage (gets damaged and makes you a visible target anytime you carry it and in your hotel room), no visible jewelry and luxury items unless you are going to a specific place and coming back with uber/taxis. When you are out exploring just wear nice outfits that do not scream tourist or "I am rich". For Italy specifically, always close your purses and keep them with a hand/under your shoulder in city/crowded places, do not leave your luggage in cars, especially at autogrills on the motorways. Leave one person in the car, if possible. Other risky places are near the beach. Better to arrive at the next hotel, leave everything, and go exploring afterwards. Anytime I am with luggage I try to look as inconspicuous as possible and blend in. If you rent a car, try to avoid luxury models and any car that is visibly rental, that immediately identifies you as a tourist. The only place in the world where I would feel safe not taking precautions may be Japan

    We were robbed once too. I have never forgotten. Due to the fact that this happened during a special time in your life, don’t let them take anything else from you than those “material” items. I am sorry you are going through this. Stealing is wrong and so low. Rise above and move forward. People who do things like this will never have good lives. 🙏🏻🩷

    There is no need to blame yourself. Since living in Europe we've become aware of the organized crime rings that are running rampant. The thieves are so organized it's scary. Spotters at the airport, trackers on scooters to follow you to your hotel, hotel staff, tour guides, it's freaking ridiculous. Italy, France, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden - the last three surprised me, are hotspots for thief rings. And the authorities are so unaffected by this it is shameful. The moment you stepped off the plane you were a target. There is nothing wrong with having lovely things I just have learn to leave them locked up like Fort Knox even at home, literally my walk in closet is also half of our panic room with a vault door. All our precious things papers are there. It's a shame we have to live in such times but with everything going on in Europe don't underestimate your visibility.

    So sorry this happened to you, Lou 😢 I’ve heard so many stories like this , about being robbed/pick pocketted/having things stolen from cars etc. One time my cousin & friends were on a driving holiday in Italy, they parked the rental car to go down the beach. By the time they returned to the car, all the tyres had been removed/stolen. These experiences really put me off from holidaying in Italy again ☹️ it’s just sad when you can’t trust the people in the country you are visiting. Makes me so thankful that I live in Australia where we don’t have to worry about having our things stolen while on holiday within the country.

    I’m so sorry that it happened to you Lou. As long as you, Polo, and your family are safe and sound 💕 Also, make sure to pay attention to your surroundings when checking into a hotel. You never know who’s nearby, listening in and hear your hotel room number and then they will pretend that your room is theirs, get a key and go into your room when you’re not there.

    To be robbed is traumatic, só bad! As for insurance: of course you get 80% refunded! If you have a travel insurance you have to give in receipts. You dó for instance have your receipts from your bags? Also, if you have to buy replacement items (underwear, shoes etc.) these things are also re-imbursed. Things like the jewelry from your grandmother don't have an invoice, so that's emotional loss. I live in Europe, so these insurance rules count for éveryone. But Italy is really, really bad. They advise if you travel by train, to attach your suitcase with a bicycle chain onto the luggage rack, as they steal it from above you. I know, it's bàd!! You have to give it time, maybe get some therapy? Yes, it's "only" stuff, but it's yóúr stuff, so you have the right to be angry/sad. It's a criminal world, unfortunately. Take care ❤

    I agree that most of us want to see positivity on YT - but at the same time, it's important to share partly because it may help others, partly because there's an outside chance it might just help get some of your things back, and partly because talking about it, is always better than keeping it bottled in. I'm so sorry that you inherited pieces were taken and that it happened to the whole family. I can totally understand that you feel violated. Have you considered talking to a professional about this. It's definitely about being aware rather than scared. You are strong, you will get through this, sharing is a positive thing for your mental health. Sending you all the virtual hugs! ❤️

    This is honestly traumatizing. I actually live in the Philippines and i can honestly say that even in a country that is very "hospitalable" there will always be people that prioritize money first. I know the feeling of losing an heirloom or gifted by your grandparents. Because i have those too. And it really linger. But thankful you are all safe. Take this time to heal from these lose and think of the brighter side . God Bless

    I'm so sorry about this! On the other hand, I am SO relieved you, Polo, and your in-laws are safe and sound! This is what matters! Yesterday, it was one year since my teen son, my elderly dad, and I were robbed in front of our home. The guy beat us hard, my dad got 2 vertebrae broken, and I was also really hurt in my back and head. The guy was on drugs and so strong. It was really frustrating that the three of us got beaten by a single guy, which made me guilty and very angry angry. Afterward, we prayed and thanked God we were alive. But I am not fully recovered, even 1 year later... It felt like he also stole our inner piece and the safety our home represents... Sorry for sharing such a bad experience, but I just want to point out that it could have been way worse for me and my beloved ones. I wish you and your husband all the best! Love from Brazil xoxo

    So sorry Lou this happened to you. Thank you for sharing these great tips. As you say, it has nothing to do with you. I got robbed so many times in Paris as a student wearing an Eastpack bag and a nokia phone. Nothing fancy… and at least never really felt I did something wrong to deserve this at that point in my life, comparing to now having valuable luxury items. I learned the hard way in Paris in crowded places to never answer my phone ( put it onto silence mode), turn my ring upside down, keep my bag close and in front of me, separating keys from id/address documents (not both in my handbag) to not get my apartment robbed while reporting to the police station, … that’s what living in this big city taught me as a poor student.
