    The original spyder system in my Astro looked as good as it gets after 28 years and 231,000 miles old. I don't see how the new design is an improvement. All solenoids and electric connections are insulated from the plenum chamber. The injector heads easily cleaned and clipped back in. You still have to remove the lower manifold to clear the carbon mess clogging the discharge areas whether or not you're replacing the injector unit or not. IDK just saying after all the smack I've heard about the much maligned " spider injection".

  • @indridcold8433
    @indridcold84334 ай бұрын

    I bought my tj back in late 1996. Originally, there was an AX-15 installed in her. There was a transmission failure in early 2001 where 4th gear stopped engaging completely and fifth sounded horrible. Diamler-Chrysle exchanged th transmission for a NV3550. Now, the synchronisers no longer work. New Venture Gear is gone forever, leaving only fond memories. This means repair for my transmission would have to be down using Chinese aftermarket parts that will nto quite fit, or are subpar. I tire of double clutching, rev matching, and slow shifts. It is like driving a lorry. The only option I find is a transmission change. I have thought of the Terminator, or just a standard AX-15. I truthfully found the NV3550 to have been an excellent transmission. But, with no production parts, it is time to get a different transmission. I drained the old grease and put automatic transmission fluid in it because I did not want to put the expensive special grease in it for an already damaged transmission. It has been running with automatic transmission fluid for years now.

    I ordered the ac delco tps from Amazon and I’m still shifting weird thru first it’s only sometimes though. The part looks cheap super cheap actually and has a white sticker no actual part number should I return it and buy one at the dealership

  • @hb5914
    @hb59145 ай бұрын

    Yes, you should probably return it and purchase one from a GM dealer if you want a bonafide AC Delco/Genuine GM part because of the potential of counterfeit parts in the supply chain (chinesium). I stongly suggest that whatever you consider purchasing from Amazon to read EVERY review, starting from the lowest/worst experience to the best experience, because used/altered/counterfeit parts have and still are being sold on Amazon.

    The C5 budget big brake videos keep getting added to my suggested, so ill keep commenting on them. What's wrong with the stock brakes? Yes adding a bit of rotor/pad size creates more surface area, and yes having more pistons across the pad helps give an even clamp, but ultimately the grip of the tires and material of the pads are most important. I have the stock calipers on my C5Z with 2-piece wilwood rotors (very light, only about 10 lbs per rotor), Hawk HPS pads, SS lines, and the car brakes amazingly. When I had Nitto nt05 200 treadwears on the car if I braked too hard the abs would kick in, meaning the brakes were better than the grip of very grippy tires. Now I have NT01 100 treadwears on the car and it's perfect. I like to keep the weight my control arms carry as light as possible to improve suspension reaction time, and going with bigger heavier brakes is the opposite of that.

    Top creeper makes you feel like you have heart problems with the chest pain after about 20 minutes. I'm older so maybe that's a factor but seen young men come off of that thing smiling like a monkey that was confused with a grimace. I have a lift so when I need a top creeper I just take the front wheels off and lower it to the rotors. I can reach everything from there.

    Fantastic video tutorial. One thing to add, pay close attention to plugging up the wireing harness to the new injector. Those pins are tender and easy to get misaligned and bent causing one or some of the injectors to not operate. That happened to me.. and those pins are very tender and easy to break off. There by ruining a new unit. Btw I was surprised at how much I had to bend the new injector tubes to get then positioned correctly. I feared it was wrong... but the turned out to operate successfully. Mine is a 4.3L

    It was to my understanding the nv3550 was a stronger transmission than the ax15. I'm a bit confused about this swap

  • @ryderdopp8145
    @ryderdopp81458 ай бұрын

    The problem is that there is essentially no parts available for the NV3550. Transmission shops won’t touch them because there’s no good options for replacing normal wear items. The AX15 however has ton of aftermarket support, because a lot more were built. So it’s not really a case of “upgrading” transmissions but a side shift to keep the Jeep on the road.
