THANK YOU TRY DONALD FAGEN, THE GOODBYE LOOK, AND WALK BETEEN THE RAINDROPS.
THANK YOU, TRY BOZ SCAGGS, LOOK WHAT YOUVE DONE TO ME, CONCERT 2003
Iam 77 years old, and this is what true music is, Tommy Edwards was just fantstic with one of the greatest voices ever,Such a Class Actand thank you so much for playing this great song.
He was a little whine-ee...but then he got him some hein-ee. And he had a good time in the city.
I was 19 when this came out and bought it at the record co I worked at. They played a few on fM radio then but I bought it. And when the mind wobbled as a young mans often does Lover Boy gave you some not so nice ideas in the city. And we all knew guys like that. I think there was a book, "How to pick up chicks and score w/girls" or something like that. In a way that is what the song is about. Ahem, "He used to have a problem but he got it fixed..." Yeah. Captured a piece in time.
Your daughter is so blessed to have you for a FATHER & She's absolutely Beautiful!❤
Hi, appreciate your channel, were you fortunate enough to see him in concert?
@@andrewthomas9777 Yes, I was! Twice in 75, twice in 76, and once in 77 for one of his final shows with the band. 75 was the best!
So I'm not the only one❤
When I first heard this song in 73' I got so excited ,had to buy the album. Such classy song
It sounds nothing like steely dan.. Give me a steely Dan song that sounds like this
Listen to commercial breakup by Thomas dolby
Sounds more like Thomas Dolby than steely dwn
Its more disco than new wave
It sounds like early Kate bush..
MARSHALL HAIN - Dancing in the City.. 1978
Julie Marshal wrote "dancing in the city" a one hit wonder in the uk.. Dancing in the city. Areas that we run to. .. Have fun tonight.. It was on top of the pops
Do you remember that song "dancing in the city" . the guy who was in that was in eye to eye
Great remake
You should listen to her sing it live on the Rolando Watt show. It will blow you away
The LEGENDARY Iconic Mighty Mighty Ojays ❤❤❤
TSOP FOREVER ❤❤❤
Hope this isn't taken as an @$$hole comment, but you may want to consider starting the music many minutes earlier. Your insights are great, but I fear you have lost viewers long before they hear a note. Maybe add comments part way in then go forward or go back to make a point...Don't mean to be a jerkweed with this. Your comments are informative...and they should reach more than 1.7k people (IMHO)
By the way, her name is Anne-Yetta not Agg-Netta
I can't believe you hadn't heard these tracks before, or that you so badly underestimated ABBA as recording artists....They were geniuses, as were their super-talented session musicians...Together they produced masterpieces. You need to listen through headphones to hear everything going on in the track - you will miss a lot otherwise....
Thom was classically trained.
I just wrote that he was classically trained, and then you mentioned it. LOL
Thumbs UP.
👍👍👍👍
Thumbs UP.
Thumbs UP for this one...those strings in this record. I am a strings man. LOL Music Arrangers who write out those strings and horn arrangements, in songs that go off to become BIG hits. NEVER get their recognition.
I had this on a 45 and cassette. When the Night Fly came out, yes, there was an inkling in my mind that there was some collaboration, but back then we didn't have the internet to research.
Wow! Lucky you for getting to be in that concert. Yes. Tiran brought the goods here. One of my fav bassists in all of rock.
............"He's gptta have a good time in the city....'When you hear that come in, it makes you feel like like you are a special person because you know this song
To be dismissive of the rest of the group is highly unfair. Russell Thompkins Jr was a rare talent, as you've stated, but he definitely couldn't do it by himself.
Never made the connection before, but I can hear the Steely Dan influence. I wondered why I liked this song so much back in the day.
I have that same poster of CTA. Yes it came from the double album!
My favorite song of theirs
Gordon, thank you for your excellent reaction video of “Light of Day”. I only wish I’d come across yours earlier when you first shared it. Sorry for being late to the party but I’ve heard and seen other reaction videos of this which were also good but I really appreciate the detail you shared here. Hey you even got Graham Goble to join in which is fantastic! I so admire Graeham as being a driving force behind the vocal arrangements of so many of their great recordings. Just like Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees, Graeham always could be counted on to top of the high end stack of the vocal harmonies. With Beeb and Glen it was so magical. Ever since Sleeper Catcher came out it remains my favorite albums of all times and Light of Day my favorite song as well. In fact, several years ago I had stumbled on Beeb Birtles email address somehow so I wrote him about the following story. Back in my college days I worked as a disc jockey to earn money for school and always ended my late night sessions with Light of Day after the long nights of crazy driving beats of disco rhythms of that day. It was such a welcome reprieve and a perfect end to the night. Very well received by all I might add. As you mentioned LRB had the knack of throwing in some very positive lyrics in some of their material. If you haven’t done a reaction to a couple of songs off of The Last Romance album that Beeb and Graham put out sometime after Sleeper Catcher I’d highly recommend considering He Gives Us All His Love , and Into My Life. Also you can hear Graham’s lead vocals on the song Whales off that album. It was a great album that didn’t get the recognition it deserved. I would love to hear from Graeham or Beeb as to who did most of the string, keyboards and flutes on Light of Day. So much to listen to on that song I never tire of it and always picks me up whenever I hear it. And I can’t help but chime in with some of the harmonies every time I play it. Thanks Gordon for sharing this amazing music and thanks to Beeb, Graeham and Glen for the gifts they shared to the world of timeless music!
So glad you are a big Linda appreciator. She is the best! I had all her records too. Thanks.
J adore aussi cette chanson ❤❤❤😊
I also share a lot of the the same thoughts and feelings about Traces. Im a couple years younger than you are. But I feel such melancholy when i hear this song, and always have. Now at 64 years old, it saddens me to think of all the years in between, all that was lost, my father, mother, sister, aunts, uncles, etc., all gone.
Love this song!
Great track. I wish they had used a good ol' Fender Rhodes on the track instead of that Yamaha synth key thing.
Hair metal and rap destroyed pop and rock music. Today's pop music is awful. Indie rock and some of 2000s R&B was the last gasp.
"in the night you hide from the madman you're longing to be" A lyric twist doesn't get any better than that!
I used to think it was "tall skinny girls" instead of "your skinny girl."
West of Hollywood is an underappreciated song on Two Against Nature (2000). So complicated, yet delicious. Masterful.
The Royal Scam is the most Steely Steely Dan album!
Deep tracks: Steely Dan, Chicago, Stevie Wonder. The Doobie Bros Livin' on the Fault Line is ALL deep tracks! So overlooked!
She said he left her and broke her heart.
Anyone who has ever been in a narcissistic relationship will recognize the numerous indicators in her story.
I have not finished this video yet, you’re about to start the song and guess what! The story was an absolute surprise, GLUED to it actually! I have stories about our BELOVED SUPERTRAMP but nothing remotely as AWESOME! Thank you and now time to subscribe, like and listen! Thank you!
