I just picked up a medium heavy 7'0 combo for cheap at Alli's. I got it for drop shoting. The only thing I am weary of is that it's a 2 piece, but I guerrilla glued them together into one piece. I am only running 10 lbs test fluorocarbon on it; so hopefully it holds up for at least a year. I do have more significantly a whole more expensive combos I use with heavier line and Aluminum framed reels.

Lmao 😂 My guess is that you're not cleaning them properly. If you fillet them without gutting them, be careful not to puncture the stomach, & if you do gut them, be careful not to puncture the guts & vitals because that's where most of the bacteria is. As long as you do that stuff right & cook it for long enough at a high enough temperature you should be fine 👍
