I should have been riding along that route last week with a few of my cycling buddies on a planned three day Newcastle trip. However, I had to pull out at the last minute because of a stomach bug.

I brought the original Tyre Glider some 18 months ago and I just couldn’t get on with it. Now I put it down to the fact that I was running both inner tubes as well as a tyre insert (Tannus Armour) in my wheel setup and the glider simply couldn’t handle it. It would be interesting to see if this new modified version could do a better job.

  • @JohnonaBike

I have old On-one fleegle on MTB and SQlabs 302 on ebike. Personally I find road handlebar hood position more comfortable, but M style bars are certainly a vast improvement over straight MTB bars, and I have toured 1000s of kms on mtb without issues. Another thing that I find helps wrist comfort is cutting the bars as short as possible, the further out your hands are from body the more extreme the wrist angle

  • @JohnonaBike

Good video, your new setup is I think how pedal bikes used to be back in the 40,s and 50,s for comfort and distance riding. Hardtails and full sus bikes have wide bars with a small backsweep for the attack position on downhill or technical trails where your up out of the saddle arms bent out wide to absorb hits and steer . Now I,m older I get shoulder muscle aches after 2 hours of riding with my head forward and leaning on the bars to much maybe. So far I have simple turned the stems upside down to raise the bars, think I will try your setup cheers. 😀

great ride out... once on the brandon line (near scripton lane / brandon section) 4 gravel bikers were cycling towards me (2x2 formation) and they weren't going to move or slow down for anyone, and the track isn't that wide along there either..! and down on the liner towards bishop auckland a guy threw a ball towards me for his dog to chase, and he would have soon shouted at me if the dog got accidently hit! I'm off to the lakes tomorrow (monday) for a week with a couple of mates - walking and drinking, hope the weather stays dry...rented a house near windemere.. :)

Yes I have had that to when other cyclists don't want to move behind each other as they are talking. Just yesterday when I was out two did exactly that but to be fair it was on a bit of a bend and he did apologise. But a few days back a school party of about 30 junior school kids were out with their teachers on the lines and it was a very long straight section and I saw them looking at me coming towards them so thought they would move over by the time I was close. But no I had to come to a near stop in front and ask them which side they were going to walk on 🤔 what's that about.... . Have good time away the lakes are a lovely place.
