I should have been riding along that route last week with a few of my cycling buddies on a planned three day Newcastle trip. However, I had to pull out at the last minute because of a stomach bug.
Yes I totally understand. Katie and I both had that awful Norovirus (vomiting bug) recently so we could not get out... I hoe you are all well now though and there will always be another day to ride just take care of your health first
Hi John, another interesting video, which track would I take to get to the tyne pedestrian tunnel from Stanley once I hit Washington
Thank you 😁 Katie and I have talked about going through the tyne pedestrian tunnel but we haven't done it yet so i am sorry but I am not sure of the route. Its something I need to look into. If you find out please let me know was we want to try it out
Very empress ❤
Thank you 😁👍
After an hour and ruining my thumbs, the chain bend was the solution. I had to forcefully bend the chain to make it go in. Worst product ever
You are right it's a poorly designed system and terrible to try and get to work 😕
I can sympathise as I’ve been unwell for a week now with a stomach bug of some sort. Managed a short walk today and hopefully get back out on the bike soon 👍
Yeah its jot very nice being ill but its even worse when it stops you getting out on the bike. The only positive is when you do get back out it feels even more sweet 😁 Don't rush it though give your body time to recover and you will be out in no time at all. I wish you a speedy recovery 👍
@@JohnonaBike cheers, John. You, too 👍
Well done for getting out. I rode today for the first time in 2 months due to injury and illness.
Thanks and well done to you 👍 it's awful when you cannot get out because of illness or your body won't let you 🤔 We can all sometimes take good health for granted
Glad that I found your channel, John. Liked and subscribed 😊. I am 64 years old and have been struggling with my wrists lately when riding my mountain bike on gravel trails and on the road. I am going to give these a try. Best wishes from Vancouver, Canada.🇨🇦
Hello and welcome and thank you very much for subscribing 🙂 I do hope it helps your wrists like it did with me. I was having all sorts of issues with mine until I changed them. I can go much longer (and further) now with no problems. Let me know how it goes 👍
Nice scenic video as usual, I hope you and Katie are better now and best wishes to you both😊
Thanks Tom. Yes this was filmed a little while back so we are good now 👍
Hope you're both feeling better John, it looks like you're back in action though! 👍
Thank you 🙂 Yes I am well now but it was an awful virus - nasty 🤔😲
Привет я тоде снимаю
😁👍
did it yesterday....walked the full thing to bay
Well done that is a good walk 🙂👍
I brought the original Tyre Glider some 18 months ago and I just couldn’t get on with it. Now I put it down to the fact that I was running both inner tubes as well as a tyre insert (Tannus Armour) in my wheel setup and the glider simply couldn’t handle it. It would be interesting to see if this new modified version could do a better job.
Well when I first tried the original tyre glider you will see in my original video it took me a little while to get the hang of it. But the new one seemed much better to me. Its only had the gap increased apparently but it seemed to make a huge difference for me
Perfect timing! A couple of guys who I ride with have the Coospo BC107 computer. I was going to buy the BC107 to use alongside/as a backup to my Garmin 1030, after I experienced a temporary glitch with the Garmin on a recent 3 day bike trip (fixed now). The BC107 is £40 so, using your discount code, I can get the more expensive CS300 for £36 😀 Just placed my order. Thank you 👍
That is great I am happy you got the CS300 at a good price. It is a good bit of kit and certainly worth the money. Keep an eye out for the new computer coming soon 😉
Enjoyed watching thank you. We are going there with our grandson . He is only six and rides is bike very well.
Thank you and you and your Grandson Will enjoy Wallington hall. Check out the gardens across the road
Great video as usual. It looks a nice scenic, relaxing ride and safe for families too. I’m sorry to hear that you have both been unwell and hope you continue to feel better, well done John and Katie😊
Thank you Tony and thank you for your concern. Yes we are well now and that route is a great route for anyone. Such a lovely part of the world
How is the cycle performing now after 2-3 years..any major issues?
You read my mind as I was just saying to Katie I need to do a follow up video on the folding bikes. I will do that video soon so keep an eye out but for a little spoiler the bikes have been brilliant 😉
@@JohnonaBike thanks will wait for your video
Love a bit of National Trust cycling. Lanhydrook nr Bodmin has some family friendly trails😊👍
There are some great rides for sure and easy enough for anyone to try them
Coombe is a popular place name. Means a Steep narrow valley or a hollow in a hill. Yeah you could do a few laps of it forwards and backwards to make a day of it.
That is really interesting thank you for that. I am always interested on how places get their names. Yes you could ride around it a few times or do the route the other way. We were taken back by how quiet it was there. Not sure if it was just lucky but it was so silent...
it is works in out street ??
It works well in the street. We have cycled all over on them and they are great
Great too watch, I'm also struggling with my wrists so going to look for some new bars, I'm so pleased I came across this and thanks for taking the time to share
Thank you very much for the kind comments and I am happy it helped. I have been using them a while now and what a great difference it has mad to my rides. Best thing I ever did 🙂👍
How is the kit now?
Its actually still going very well. Used it on many rides now and it's been washed many times and still as good as new 😊
What an absolute joke of a link, if I knew it was this stupidly impossible I wouldn’t of brought shimano
Yes you are right its horrible to use which is why I did the video to TRY and help but its crazy difficult. I usually use KMC with their powerlink which works brilliant
To me these do look like these classic shaped bicycle handlebars. I think that our ancestors knew how to build proper bikes.
Yes I agree 🙂 these bars do look like the classic bars and maybe that is the reason they work so well 🤔😁
I have old On-one fleegle on MTB and SQlabs 302 on ebike. Personally I find road handlebar hood position more comfortable, but M style bars are certainly a vast improvement over straight MTB bars, and I have toured 1000s of kms on mtb without issues. Another thing that I find helps wrist comfort is cutting the bars as short as possible, the further out your hands are from body the more extreme the wrist angle
Yeah we are all different and different bars work better for different people but those ones I had on my MTB were awful. I find my riding much more comfortable now I changed them
Out on the road bike today in Liverpool, wish it was spring again just to have that nice weather again 🌧️
Yeah the weather at the moment is a bit naff. Hopefully it will improve soon
Great video as usual John, it looks a nice scenic route and you put in a really good effort in, well done and good luck John
Thanks Tom for the kind comments as always. Much appreciated 😊👍
Do you have 700x28 tyres john? Im looking at road bikes as an alternative to my mountain bike
I have 700x25 but I do want to change them to 28 or even 30 at some point as it will make it more comfortable on our rubbish roads
Thanks. I bought the permanent mount for my road bike but will be using this tip on my X-Country bike.
Your welcome 😁 yes it's an expensive bit of kit to loose
Also having wrist pain and numbness. Ive got some riser bars and adjustable stem to play with. Hopefully one or the combination of both will solve the problem. Getting old sucks. Thanks for this informative video!
Your welcome and I hope it works for you as it has done for me. I have been using my setup for years now and its brilliant sp much more comfortable 😁👍
Nice one! 👊
Thank you 👍
When you get to be our age it’s all about comfort. Not being hunched over all the time makes a big difference. I’m thinking about shortening my cranks from 165 mm to 155 mm. Bad knees. I think that might help too.
Yes that is so true 🤣 but of course us cyclists never really get old 😁👍
First time watching a video of yours. Very good review! Thorough and covers all the bases very well. I have the F1 model and l really enjoy them too. May have to try these though. The added app is a very nice touch. Nice biking footage too. 🙂
Thank you very much for the kind words it's very much appreciated 😁 I do try and do reviews that I would want to see myself.
How long did it take them to ship to you? I've been waiting for about a month now, and the email said the package is coming from main land China
I only waited 9 days for mine to arrive and they told me it came from Lithuania so not sure why yours is coming from China. Have you contacted them? I did find they were pretty slow at replying to emails but they told me they were updating their email system
@@JohnonaBike I finally got a reply from them. All they said is that they'll investigate why the order is taking longer than usual and that they send from Lithuania and China depending on what size and design you order
Ah right that makes sense I suppose. Well I certainly hope you get your order soon. It is good gear though so you should be happy with your order
Load of rubbish using 3 tyre levers was faster.
Whatever works best for you and there is nothing wrong with tyre levers. But when I tried the tyre glider it was very fast and easy to use
Have my second coospo computer and they are great for in ride stats, simple but effective for their price point 👍🏻
I do like the single button save function which is not on my model
They are really good value and do the job well. I have tried a few now and they have always been good 👍
You are super lucky in the uk with the amount of trails that come out of disused rail tracks. We have only a few where we live in 🇨🇦 and they are a true joy to explore on a gravel bike.
Yes we are lucky that they re-used the old lines as walking and cycling routes. It's a big network now and well used. I would be lost in the winter months as I only use the mountain bike then on those tracks
The bike actually looks cooler after the changes haha
Yep totally agree and way better to ride 🙂
I use it too a great tool!!!
It's a great little gadget 😁👍
hahah It ain't that hard, actually.. It clicked nicely. I was prepared for such a struggle, after all I removed my old chain with a vice, screw and a bushing :D Thanks for the explanation!
You were lucky if it was that easy 👍 just look at the comments on this video people have a nightmare with it 🤔 but not quite a vice job though 😳😁
This helped heaps, your a mad dog 🫡
Your very welcome 😁👍
Great video,,will try that part of track when I'm there in August...the bit from rhb to ravenscar is very rough by the way ...
Thank you for the kind comment 🙂 Its a great ride and thank you for the heads up on the rough section from Whitby we were going to do that at some point to but maybe I'll give it a miss as although the folding bikes are brilliant they are not really meant for rough terrain 😁
@@JohnonaBike the cinder track from Whitby to rhb is really good and about 6 miles each way ...
Ahh right so its good to Robins hoofs bay but rough after that ?
Good video, your new setup is I think how pedal bikes used to be back in the 40,s and 50,s for comfort and distance riding. Hardtails and full sus bikes have wide bars with a small backsweep for the attack position on downhill or technical trails where your up out of the saddle arms bent out wide to absorb hits and steer . Now I,m older I get shoulder muscle aches after 2 hours of riding with my head forward and leaning on the bars to much maybe. So far I have simple turned the stems upside down to raise the bars, think I will try your setup cheers. 😀
Thank you 🙂 I like your way of thinking 🤔😁 maybe create the most comfortable bike in the world I like the sound of that. But joking aside you are right bikes have been developed for certain riding disciplines which is all good but maybe at the cost of comfort which is also VERY important. Great idea on turning the stem upside down that little extra will make a huge difference 👍
Think this is the ride I bumped into you at consett and shouted hello John on a bike 😂 nice to meet you it’s a good 50 mile loop the consett ride
This was filmed a short while back as I am behind with my videos 🙂 But did you see me yesterday as I was out and I did go to Consett ? You should have come over and said hello its always good to have a chat.
great ride out... once on the brandon line (near scripton lane / brandon section) 4 gravel bikers were cycling towards me (2x2 formation) and they weren't going to move or slow down for anyone, and the track isn't that wide along there either..! and down on the liner towards bishop auckland a guy threw a ball towards me for his dog to chase, and he would have soon shouted at me if the dog got accidently hit! I'm off to the lakes tomorrow (monday) for a week with a couple of mates - walking and drinking, hope the weather stays dry...rented a house near windemere.. :)
Yes I have had that to when other cyclists don't want to move behind each other as they are talking. Just yesterday when I was out two did exactly that but to be fair it was on a bit of a bend and he did apologise. But a few days back a school party of about 30 junior school kids were out with their teachers on the lines and it was a very long straight section and I saw them looking at me coming towards them so thought they would move over by the time I was close. But no I had to come to a near stop in front and ask them which side they were going to walk on 🤔 what's that about.... . Have good time away the lakes are a lovely place. We are heading up there soon to to family who live there
@@JohnonaBike yes, love the lakes... know my german mate 30 years in september as it turns out..! last few years i rented a house in the lakes, was caldbeck 2 years ago, and grasmere last year...nice just to get away from everything :)
Yes I agree Katie and I love to rent a cottage usually down south somewhere as the weather is normally better.... Hopefully we will have the good fortune again this year of great weather like other years. This week the weather is set to get a LOT better so hope you have a good one 😁👍
Wow 50 miles I only could do 3 miles 27 minutes and I was shattered😂
It's just what you get used to. My wife Katie could only do a mile now she is doing 30 👍
Nice video John and well done on a great effort😊
Thank you Tom 😊👍
Was looking at your video on the jersey from AliExpress. Nice jersey, Looks good and the jersey can last so long.
I have had this jersey a while now and love it. Fits well and I even had some girls comment who were walking past on how nice it is 😎
@@JohnonaBike I am going to buy one soon. :)
Yeah do they are great value and I have worn and washed mine many times and its still in great shape
The design and color is damn nice. The colorful one fit u well.
They are a good jersey and I love the colour and how easy it is to see on the roads
What kind of bike you riding john cheers
I am riding a Carrera Fury from Halfords. Excellent bike at a great price for the spec
Thanks just tried that ride today couldn't get up the bank but my bike is a hybrid thanks
There is no shame in waling up hills. You are still out there having fun and getting fitter and the hills will just get easier over time - well done 😁👍
@JohnonaBike cheers just started last September birthday today 69
That's brilliant 🙂 well done 👍 it will only get easier the more you ride. Well apart from your bum that will always be sore 🤣
Really enjoyed your video. Just taking up cycling again after many years. Just for your info. Gallows Close is located on the north western edge of Scarborough town centre and is so named as it was the site of a gallows through the Middle Ages and Early modern period.
Thank you 😊 and thank you for the info about Gallows Close that's really interesting. I love history like that and how places get their names. We have a village close to where I live called Pity Me but no idea where it's name came from 🤔😁
