History and aviation. If these two words mean something to you, then you are in the right place. Here, you will find amazing stories about famous airplanes, historical events, or exceptional people that have changed the world of aviation or turned out to be unfairly forgotten. The stories that I tell may sound so incredible that you might think they are taken from Hollywood scripts, but they all truly happened.
Most of the described events are quite old and more suited to paper books, but my goal is to transfer them carefully into videos so everyone can enjoy them.
I want to save these stories from oblivion by putting them in Paper Skies.

What happened to the word 'the'? Why was it replaced by the word 'theeeee'?
À country's president who says Russia is the greatest on earth is like Trump saying he's a genius. Some people might believe it but that doesn't make it true.
It's a wonder that the USSR EVER produced anything good, given how corrupt and incompetent they were.
The chance for a genuine leftist society died a death in exile in Mexico with Trotsky. Stalin, former comrade of so many of the people he systematicaly had liquidated; defined the Soviet Union both during and after his lifetime; which amounted to nothing but totalitarianism with "socialist" window dressing. Stalin was an apolitical paranoid sociopath such people dont care what situations present themselves; specifically those that allow them to get more power. In his case it was a genuine leftist uprising in Russia that he attached himself to and we all know the rest. He was able to, via his systematic liquidations / purges; eventually, with fear at every level of society, create nothing short of a personality cult. He is almost the classic case of such paranoid sociopathic examples. That and the fact that most of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century still lived in serfdom, basically ***waaaaaaaay*** behind the rest of Europe in standards of living and genuine socialist policy successes like the creation of the NHS and a quality Puublic School system in the ***British Empire.*** Socialist policies can work if done, not quite incrementally, faster than that certainly; buut can absolutlely be implimented in more countries than you may think, and some may surprise like the British Empire, the thing about a couuntry like Britain though is that we have policies based on reason and sense in the form of common law, both English and Scottish, we have a history of helping each other out and just basic human decency, caring about the quality of schools in some far away part of the country the need brought up to the high standards set, even though your children wont be affected at all is all about caring about a common set of core values that have been laid down over a long time. Point is Russia had no such gradual building of standards and values, etc. Because the vast majjority of ordinary Russians at the start of the 20th C. were living in conditions, that the rest of Europe had dragged itself more or less at the same time hundreds of years previous. It was bad and to go from that to genuine attempts **in the beginning** to make socialism work, which remember, it isnt like there are tons of example, especially ones without other countries undermining these efforts from the start. The day that Lenin died then, as people started dissappearing, Trotsky felt that he ultimately had to go into exile. The reason Stalin wasnt content to leave Trotsky alone in his exile is that Trotsky was, espcially as Stalin continued his purges, Trotsky, more and more became almost symbolic, because people knew that the thing that with Trotsky went into exile in Mexico and had a relastionship with Frida Kahlo, was the last chance of a genuine socialist country. The crazy thing is all Stalin cared about was more power for him. And to finalyy return to my first and main point. That Stalin defined the Soviet Union during and its state and course after his lifetime. Through sheer, obsessive power lust. which, remember suuch people are ***a-political***, meaning he couldnt csare less about the details of how things worked, he made the Soviet Union a tempting proposition for all who follwed him, and they all, bought his bullshit, that running a country is easy if you dont give a shit abouut the people. Somewhat iromnically just like the Czars before him, Stalin made running the Soviet Union an easy and ***absolutely a-political*** job that all of his successors bought hook line and sinker... It's a 🤌🏼🤌🏼complicated subject🤌🏼🤌🏼 that I dont think simply being Russian absolves you of the requisit care and appreciation. all due respect, don't get me wrong. 🙌🏼 ❤
incompetant drunk orcs. thats all this is
lol, nice clap back.
Do you ever list the sources for the video clips you use that look like a movie or tv show?
Late to the party but wanted to add that your voice is excellent and your accent is endearing. Love the channel.
18:18 to 18:24 LOL
Now we know why Russia loses all the time, they aren’t high speed, forgetting passwords, keys, which planes are taking off first on the run way, lol sh*t show going on over there!!
meritocracy >
Something I think is really funny is the fact that repeatedly throughout history the russians have VERY successfully convinced the western powers they have new advanced forces they do not in fact have. An unfortunate downside of this is that... well... then the west upgrades it's forces to counter the perceived threat for real, and the russians are left scrambling to catch up, usually copying from whatever the west just did. But they can't seem weak, so they trick the west into thinking they have something new... and the cycle repeats.
americas a10 hippo with a bowel issue : "you poor folks, WE BUILT THE PLANE AROUND THE GUN. but for trying your best. FOR THIS we honour you. airman to airman in the ole way of nobility of the sky"
warsaw pact country: no alcohol before training missions or alarm duty. Other than that was a vodkafest. Especially for fallen comrades that went down in flight accidents, which in the 90's was common, in particular for mig21. It really was a cultish brotherhood, with good and bad.
you cannot live sober in ussr/russia. Its just impossible.
at this point i dont know what gets the russians up in the air. The pilots are smart and know the truth about this war, so im guessing they go up half hartedly or really knowing they are the baddies. However, there s a malignant curse on the bad guys: they will all fall down, save a very few.
“The ends justice the means” people are capable of great evil as long as they see a light at the end, even if its a falsehood.
17:10 Where’s that episode from? I’m pissing my pants over how funny this is! 😂😂😂
It not just a Soviet thing we have it here in America to it’s called greed.
Thanks for this. What a story!
Such a wild story. Thanks for retelling it in detail.
Well documented, awesome footage & soundtrack to go with it. Niceee
The operation, as many others I would say, went sauce
Reminds me about how Iran lost her president and foreign minister in just trip.
I know one russian word like it should be , Blyat.
2 turning. 2 burning. 2 smoking. 2 choking. And 2 unaccounted for.
Please I must know what video movie or documentary is the footage at 2:54 from?
Back in the 80s nearly the entire Pacific Fleet Command was killed in a crash that happened on takeoff. The crash was not recognized publicly until years after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The U.N honoring the reli fascists
So, let me get this straight. Left to its own devices, the sticks in an Su-24 will be in a...relaxed position. But when the aircraft is turned on, the sticks become...erect. It's a plane with a stiffy. Two of them, in fact. Casts a new light on its NATO codename of "Fencer".
🎶 ushgadook 🎶
All for 2 giant rolls of toilet paper 😂
The russians did NOT copy the F-111! It was those lying cheating westerners who copied the Su-24 several years before the Su-24 was even invented somehow!
Can you do a video of the likeness between Mig-15 and F-86 Sabre?
The photo of the General Dynamics F-111 just gave me a flashback to a little toy I had that had articulating wings that fold back!
ruzzians demonstrating blunt ignorance? I'm as shocked as you are.
so, SU-24 is marriage of Mirage and F111.
Really cool video. Thank you.
16 top navy commanders lost in a single crash? That's an...admira[l]-ble...kill count.
Outstanding documentary.
Unfortunatelly russian unofficial motto was in full effect: And then things got worse
Honestly the first failing of the Svoiets in all this is letting so many important leadership take the same flight. The reason why is plain: if anything happens, be it intentional or not, you lose far too much institutional knowledge. They should have booked half a dozen planes for this with staggered delays, and some trains for good measure.
I believe a direct translation should be the term good idea Fairy.
I'm a Canadian who met a красивая девушка (that's 'krasivaya devushka', or 'pretty girl' for you boring Anglos) in the '90s so half of my family is Russian, with varying degrees of English speaking skills. Your written and spoken English is superior to 90+% of native English speakers, even with the accent.
With this level of readiness, had a boomer defected, they would not have caught it.
Lit paths to toilets?
Two cases of Vodka
We figured out early on you couldn't mount one of those Big ass guns to a plane. The only way to make it work is to get the gun and build an airplane around it. And that's what the a-10 is..
