Great clear teaching man, much appreciated.i I’ll definitely put this knowledge to use. I knew of the circle of fifth, and taken theory years ago in college, but I’m not a keyboard player so I struggled with applying the theory to protools midi production and sequencing. Wow.

This could be really helpful for some people especially if they aren’t taking their project too seriously. But this is not effective if u intend to keep the exact tempo from the original song unfortunately. Once u make that adjustment with elastic audio u alter the source track. It’s still a pretty clever way to make ends meet though..

I took your class at Media Arts Collaborative Charter School back in 7th grade. That was 6 years ago. I remember telling you that I hated everything about music. I genuinely hated it. Now music is the only thing that keeps me going and it's you I have to thank for that. Without music, life would be boring and tasteless, so thank you Mr. Minnerly for showing me that

really dont like it, music theory is something serious man! G major isnt a chord in F key (second minor usually) if you want to explain what 5th circle is you have to talk about 7th dominants, and keys with alterations....starting with 5-1, then 2-5-1....1-5-2major-5 is not a common progression, you can put every chord you want in a song but the point is harmony has rules, it must be teached not in a completely freedom fashion. for example when you write notes of F major you have F A C 1/3/5...then you do C major C E G...but you notice that one note is in common with two chords...a good rule is to keep note in common when changing chords and also don't move voices to much.....you did C E G....another better way you could do was F A C and then E G C....so F goes down to E only an halftone....and A goes down to G only a semitone.....in your way F must be jump to upper E (7th interval versus 1 halftone) and A must jump to G.... best way is using different melodic positions so firat chord is FAC (melodic 5th position), second will be EGC (8th melodic position) then G major....move E to D and C to B keeping G in common and get DGB (3rd melodic position) this positions can be named 'inversions' but they arent....if you have a bassline doing fundamentals under your string pad these are not inversions but melodic positions. if there is only a three voices string pad so they are inversion because the lowest note of your second chord (C) became E using my voicing so this chord become C/e.
