    The legendary ball striker, Moe Norman set his club at address back from the ball as well.

    Moved away from conventional golf instruction 3 weeeks ago and went to stack and tilt and my game has moved to a new level. I have wasted 20 years of my golf life watching KZread instructions and it did absolutely nothing for my golf game. It will fry your brain and have you going round in circles for years. No wonder your not getting any better have you heard the term paralysis by analysis. To much information is killing you game. Stack and tilt is the way to go simple and easy to learn. I have improved more in 3 weeks with stack and tilt than i have done in last 20. years.

    Moe Norman actually addressed it with the clubhead about 6 inches from the ball

    This drill is mainly to help your take-away stay on point, so your not come'n inside or too much outside.

    Sarcasm is fun but doesn't help much with the golf swing.

    The big realisation for me is that the backswing (point A) is a mirror image of the immediate post impact downswing position of the arms. Your last video also emphasised this.

    Russell, how about with driver? Steve Johnston did a drill with 12 inches back and 3 inches in....to achieve consistent powerful strike....is this same principle? Keep club face looking at ball? Is the head always over the ball? Would you recommend in actual competition play or just as a practice?

    Wow, Russel, this makes sense. All other videos seem to discourage this because it seems like swaying, but it's not is it? It's moving into your right side to turn.

    This is so helpful.. Unfortunately there’s a lot of misinformation out there that hurts your average golfer. I was just doing the whole start at the middle of your stance technique (after coming off a break) and I was just thinning, topping and chucking with very few good strikes. After trying this at the range today I feel like I have room to unload and keep my head from moving around a bunch. Was hitting the ball about a club further than I remember too

    Short backswing means a change in stiffness of the shaft. The slower golf swing (older people) will have to make adjustments in either the shaft, grip further down the shaft, or baseball grip, etc. Me thinks quite a process.

    I noticed w/ the follow thru swing that it is very hard to keep your arms straight unless you have your hip moving toward target w/ a nice tilt cause your head stays back and tilts as well in this follow thru. If you feel like your having trouble keeping your arms straight parallel to ground in the follow thru, your not in the right positioning to do so. Thx for showing up this correct move Russ. 👍

    Bryson Dechambeau has an incredible INSIDE move into the ball. Tees it HIGH and lets it FLY. Also, he has a great Jack Nicklaus inspired "HOVER" over the ball before starting the swing.

    Russell, do you have a feeling of the lead wrist "not breaking" through impact?

  • @maxsjostrom67
    @maxsjostrom678 күн бұрын

    Thank you! So fundamental stuff and so utterly easy to forget. I guess the major problem is that if you want to cast something hard, you'd lean on your backfoot and then come back to front foot. Sometimes with draiver one thinks that ok let's smash it by moving backwards and all the compression is lost not to mention the outside in move.

    Excellent lesson Russell. I was particularly pleased to hear that it's not necessary to turn the full 90 degrees with the shoulders. When your in your seventies and as stiff as a board this is pretty difficult at the best of times!

  • @Ipdex

    I've always played with a little fade & off 5, which can easily turn into a big fade at times, and always had difficulty consistently squaring the face. My best takeaway move is a feel where I keep my wrists 'stiff' ie don't move them until they naturally start to cock just past 1st parallel. From this video I can now see that doing that move keeps the cup in my left wrist created at address throughout the swing hence the varying open face at impact. Tks Russell, really good video this one. I'm going to explore your 1:1 tuition to see if it suits what I'm after. Tks again 🙂

    Very nice, especially in transition at the top. I noticed you don't push very hard with your lead leg at the moment of the strike...is this to get more control or do you find power in any other way? (I am NOT saying you do anything wrong, your swing is 10x better than mine, i'm just curious)
