Welcome to my channel! This is a channel where I share my experience of working in asset management, professional development, and a bunch of other things. I hope you have a nice time here.
This is an embarassment to the CFA program, this is supposed to be about numbers and Data, and there is zero numbers or data presented in ESG scores. As a Financial manager our only goal is to maximize our clients profit, for people to do this b.s. and undercut their own clients is a joke.

Hi Marie, nice breakdown of the certificate. I'm planning to enroll soon. Would it be right to say that the main difficulty is the amount of information to retain? So if you have a good memory it should be relatively easy to pass? As for the curriculum, could you specify how many books & pages there are to cover? Thanks

Hi Marie - that is very valuable advice. I especially love the part where you talk about not memorizing every detail. I am a firm believer in efficient learning, so my strategy right now is to get into practice problems and mock exams right away and learn by mistakes, on the topics I didn't quite understand to go back and deep dive in the books instead of going page by page detail by detail and not getting into a mode where I connect knowledge among the topics etc. I have to admit though that I started quite early and bought a "80/20 Pareto book" for Level 1 in order to hammer the most important topics into my subconscious. All the best for your Asset Management Career, which is also my goal to work as a Team Lead in Asset Management for UBS/JP Morgan/Blackrock or Bank of America after my Consulting Path that I am enjoying very much right now.

Maria, I think that you approached the CFA exam with prep.providers, and did not read the entire CFA curriculum. That's why you have such thoughts that "experience is more important than this THEORETICAL knowledge."))) Even in the curriculum, which I don't think you've read, it says that the CFA curriculum is written with a strong emphasis on topics related to the real world, and in fact it's true, every topic is applicable. How can you say that experience is more relevant?)))) how experience can make a difference if you don't have a deep knowledge of the subject? CFA can add little value only for prep.providers student, who skip all the richness of this curriculum.

Ahh.....ya know there are things that are applicable but a person with good finance internships without cfa would be preferred over a cfa as nowadays cfa passouts are increasing. I am not doing the cfa but still using the books as reference the difference is in using that knowledge on excel, or any other software tool and in a efficient and quick way is needed which a candidate who has passed the exam in multiple attempts but has written about the number of attempts taken on his resume and only read the schewser books.

By end 5 financial internships and a finance blog/newsletter of his own and he had portfolio of Financial Projects of many industries he got hired as a research analyst right out of graduation from a really non target school. Experience > Only cfa but practical experience with cfa is top notch combination.

You want to do CFA to get a job at some mutual fund company. if you have solid knowledge of finance and Investments then you can earn money anywhere in the world and you do not need to get a job. Start investing some of your money and you will learn much better than working at some high profile asset management firm. If you grow your asset even at the rate of 18% then how much assets you will have after 30 years. But still I think that you should find a job or do business because investments is a very boring profession and the less you do the better it is for your portfolio. 😀

Hey! I would advise to dedicate 1-2 hours per day during the work week and 3-4 during the weekend. Also might be good to use your commute time for preparation (read material so that you could practice it in a more quiet environment). Some days you would spend more time, some days less time, but aim at finishing each book in a month time. I work for a Dutch asset manager:) Good luck!
