Hi Marie - that is very valuable advice. I especially love the part where you talk about not memorizing every detail. I am a firm believer in efficient learning, so my strategy right now is to get into practice problems and mock exams right away and learn by mistakes, on the topics I didn't quite understand to go back and deep dive in the books instead of going page by page detail by detail and not getting into a mode where I connect knowledge among the topics etc. I have to admit though that I started quite early and bought a "80/20 Pareto book" for Level 1 in order to hammer the most important topics into my subconscious. All the best for your Asset Management Career, which is also my goal to work as a Team Lead in Asset Management for UBS/JP Morgan/Blackrock or Bank of America after my Consulting Path that I am enjoying very much right now.

In your portfolio Management practice : Do you use Statistic and Probability formulas as "plug in" black box - part of check list or do you use them by knowing inside out the logic in construction of the formulas?

We wouldn't use a formula/program/piece of code unless we really understand what's going on inside of it.

Hi! I would advise you to start reading the exam materials as soon as possible. If possible, try to get prep materials from Kaplan Schweser and aim at finishing each book in one month. You can also check Wiley's 11th Hour Review, I found it quite helpful. If you come from a non-financial background, you might need more time than I outlined in the video. Good luck!

Most of people whom I know and who are in quant-related roles use Python (99% of the time), R and a few use Matlab

Which skills in Portfolio Management are not replaceable form AI automation?

I'm far from being a quant but in my view it's a lot harder to implement AI for the management of alternative investments (e.g., real estate, private equity) vs equities and fixed income. And active ownership can't be replaced (yet) - talking to companies, engaging with them and making them change for the better

Are you also a CFA holder? Did you migrate to Europe in search for a job or studies? Just curious since I want to kick start my career in PE fund or VC

I'm doing Level III in Feb'23 so I don't have the charter yet. I first came to Europe to do my masters with the goal to stay here if I find good job opportunities after finishing my studies. But European countries are not the same, some have more active PE/VC markets and some are more convenient for expats.

I am not a big fan of video lectures as it's usually takes a lot longer to get through the material vs you working with the book. Study one book.a month and do as many exercises as possible. Use the last two weeks to refresh everything in your memory. Hope it helps!
