Great... no diesel. I had a dvd with old video footage featuring this loco hauling a rake of Pullmans and the back up diesel was painted in the same livery as the coaches, so it wasn't "in your face" obvious. Love the choccie and creams❤. Nice shots here❤. Thanks for posting.

Yes.... I agree, I think it's a bit of a let down when there is a diesel on the back. I am not too sure if these are there as a precaution if the steam loco was to fail or if they are there for added traction? Someone out there may be able to shed some light here?

It is a shame but it's usually to push the steam loco out of the way IF it were to fail so it doesn't disrupt usual mainline trains, but can also "assist" if the steam locomotive is struggling for whatever reason

Good to see the 'Creator' and family members! Superb night time shots on your videos. Difficult to get right I imagine. The firey reflection from the the firebox is well captured. I don't know if you have come across these uploaders but they are amongst some of my favourites: Speed to the West, glorious panoramic and magical countryside viewing with trains in locational context. www.youtube.com/@SpeedToTheWest DJB trains: Nothing special, but plenty of lingering shots of of steam locos at stations, especially Temple Meads and Gloucester well executed. www.youtube.com/@DJBTrains

Another well captured film of an interesting design. I like the lingering view of the broadside which is not often seen. Only eleven of these locomotives were built by the Midland Railway for operation on the notoriously graded and awkward Somerset and Dorset Railway between Bath and Bournemouth, a job which they successfully fulfilled between 1914 and 1964. It's saying something that two of these locos have been preserved. The saving and restoration of our industrial railway heritage is nothing short of a miracle. Thanks for posting.

The low angles and perspectives capture the true essence of the appeal and charisma of steam, I can sense the presence and the smell of a coal fire and hot oil on steel and you edit out those rather tedious lengthy sections when locos are about to move off but don't and then open the cylinder drain cocks and everything is lost in a cloud of swirling steam. My model railway is an attempt to recreate the final phase of steam in the BR era as I recall it and almost all the filming is at track/ground level.
