    Yes, the V-Strom valve checks are an expensive proposition, but a my mechanic - a life-long Suzuki qualified person with over 30 years under his belt - told me that he has done scores of them and has never seen one that needed a thing. He did two engines for me, an SV650 and a DL650, and both were right on spec as he assured me they would be. I have therefore decided to stretch the next interval a good bit …but that’s just me.

    Had a new Trident 660… problems from day one, the ignition wouldn’t recognize the key and it would me leave stranded for hours 50 miles away from home…. I would have to turn the key off and on like 1000 times before it would grant me with contact lights…. Road assistance 0, I would spend hours on the phone with them answering stupid questions 100x while turning my key on and off in order to try to get back home. The bike was 3x in dealership for a couple of days, third time they finally changed antenna on the ignition assembly. Traded in the bike immediately after they “repaired “ it on the third attempt. The bike looked cute, plenty of power, great riding experience BUT TRIUMPH Never ever again!!! PS Great video man!

    I wouldn't recommend starting on anything smaller than a 600cc or getting a 1000cc at all if you're just gonna be street riding a 1000 will overheat in traffic they are generally more expensive to maintain and a 600 is going to do all of the squid shit you wanna do anyway so I'd say just stick with a 600 I started on a R3 and had it for about 3 months before I picked up an R6 then about a year later got a gsxr1000 had it for around 6 months then sold it and my R3 and I'm completely happy with my R6 for me that's all I need

  • @RiderXp
    @RiderXp5 күн бұрын

    Haha! No. I rode the CB1000R a couple of times and I couldn't convince myself to include it in this comparison. It's too powerful to be compared fairly with these bikes and too underpowered to be compared with flagship naked bikes which are getting crazier by the way. It is good, fun, Sunday morning bike though.

    @@RiderXp 👍🏽 After 15 years of no bike bought a fresh 2018 900RS in 2020 from a late 70s old man, his family wanted him to get rid of his bikes after a minor electric scooter crash, he drew the line at getting rid of his BMW S1000R. He didn’t say but the 900RS had signs of being flashed, rubber ecu casing had the razor blade cuts on the side retainers for easy R&I) no snatchey throttle, not as fast as my sake rockets of yore but fast, very street-able and smooth, roared like an old KZ 1000 at high revs. Sold it last summer 🥲

  • @RiderXp

    @@coastalhillbilly3419 Of all these bikes, the Z900RS is indeed the more most reminiscent of UJMs and I can see that in a lot of comments. I did get to ride it eventually. The one I rode was also flashed and tuned and hence no snatchy throttle. The brakes weren't good though but that was probably because of lack of upkeep. I'm glad you at least enjoyed... time for a new one maybe... I did like the Triumphs too by the way. If they weren't expensive, I would have considered the Thruxton.

    Love your channel, BTW. Here in Australia, the Trident is only available in the knee capped LAMS version of 60HP. The RRP prices makes it as one of the most expensive LAMS on the market. More than an MT07. Which is a real shame.

    Nice review. Have to point out the Tiger 900 you list specs for and the one you rode are two different bikes. The '24 you didn't ride feels more powerful, the seat is more comfortable, the vibes are mostly gone and the engine heat is far better than the earlier one you rode (can tell easily by the dash and different style mirrors). My personal opinion after testing each for my ergos and riding style, I think the Tracer 9 GT+ just edges out the '24 Tiger 900 GT Pro with the XR being a far far distant 3rd.

    I liked the use of Zack Courts' "giggle score" in the comparison, which in your estimation the V-Strom won handily. I always referred to the V-Strom 650 engine as not overly powerful, and yet very "satisfying". The V-Strom also scores near perfect on my own "smile per $" rating. As a matter of fact, I have owned about 40 bikes in 52 years of riding, and I like the 645cc Suzuki 90 degree twin so well that I currently own a V-Strom 650 AND an SV650. 😎

    @@RiderXp Thanks for the great comparison. I will certainly be checking out the channel and watching for more content. 👍 For a rider of my extensive experience and rather advanced age, who still loves to ride but is starting to require less "heft", and has already owned and/or ridden everything under the sun and has nothing left to prove, and therefore cares nothing at all about excessive power or image, the DL650ABS Adventure hits all the buttons really, really well. It is a capable tourer and country road explorer. It is all-day comfortable. It has a reasonable seat height. It is rather lightweight, and therefore easy to roll in and out of the garage, and to flick around when under way. It requires very little maintenance. It gets excellent fuel economy. It looks nice - at least to these old eyes. It is proven to last a really long time. The motor and its unique power delivery is SWEET, and SMOOTH, and SATISFYING. And perhaps best of all, it has a very retirement-friendly price tag, especially on the used market. What's not to love?

    @ralphcantrell3214 Agreed 100%. I don’t have as many years of experience but thanks to the channel, have been able to at least test ride lots of bikes. The best thing that happened to me was going to the track. It helped me scratch the speed itch in a safe environment and when I started riding street again, the need for speed was replaced with need for enjoying the scenery and soaking up the sun. So now to me street riding is just about enjoying the scenery and camaraderie and track is when I feel like scratching the speed and cornering itch. Very happy to connect with riders from all walks of life, experience levels and style of bikes. Starting this channel is the best thing I did for my sanity.
